Wonderful and informative video. Thank you for doing these swatch labs….it’s great to know how a yarn handles with various stitches. You are so clever!
Thanks for taking the time to produce this video. It was very interesting and full of information. However, I wouldn’t purchase this yarn myself as I find it so so expensive.
Not all yarns work for all people. You can extrapolate a bit from this if you find a silk/linen blend that is preferable to you. Silk/linen is going to hold lace well and drape well, the structure of the yarn will determine how it cables.
I'm so glad it was useful to you. I always find the 1x1 vs 2x2 super enlightening when I do these swatches. Mostly I've learned if you want punch from cables in most yarn you have to go big!
I just discovered your videos, and this one is brilliant! I love the giant swatch, with all the different stitches and patterns to understand how that particular yarn will behave! Genius! As a fairly new knitter, I don't have the knowledge base to automatically know what various yarns and contents will do on different projects. I have many yarns without labels (gifted and handed down), and this will certainly give me a chance to use them properly now! Thank you so much....and now I'm hooked on your channel! YAY!
That was very interesting and informative. I love when you explain and show samples of yarns that we might have to purchase online and never see firsthand.
I would love the gauge chart/pattern that you used on this and how you decided on those elements to swatch. I would love to possibly use and adapt it for my needs.
Thanks Barbara! I absolutely love everything about your videos. Your playful attitude is so infectious. I learn so much from you and can't wait for the KAL! ❤
Love that you're swatching different yarns. It's provides so much more information about yarn fibers and what projects might be better for the different fibers. Great idea for a 'sampler' of how the different stitch patterns look with the specific yarn. Looking forward to the next one! Thanks!
I consider this having a "conversation" with my yarn LOL. Normally I just sort of randomly pick textures, lace, and cables but this time I decided to codify it so I can compare apples to apples across swatches.
Absolutely fascinates me the way different yarns work. Love this video for that reason. The drape on this yarn looks fantastic. Thank you for giving it a great swatch review with a range of stitches. It really helps me see more of the yarns needs. Congratulations to Denise. Take care and keep safe. xxJane
Swatching is soooo important but I hated doing it when I was younger. I have a VERY loose tension and I HAVE to swatch. I can remember a few disasters with my knitting before I swatched carefully. 1 was a lovely Aran, all in one suit for my 2yr old…. she looked like a big brown bear in it, poor child and another was the first jumper that I knitted for my new husband!!!!! Drowned him. But I learned from my mistakes and am still knitting:).
Please do offer your swatch pattern! I’d gladly pay for a pdf. I’m a longtime knitter who does appreciate the value of swatching. Over the years I’ve accumulated a large quantity of a new-to-me yarns from lace weight to DK weight, usually without knowing how I will use the new stash acquisition. I’ve begun to knit long and ever-widening swatches of each yarn using a range of needle sizes, with a row of YO eyelets to “label” each needle size. On occasion I’ve swatched to see how cables or a stitch pattern would look with a given yarn when I have a project pattern in mind. I really like your multi stitch swatch format and think it would be a great complement to my range-of-needle-size swatches as I experiment with and catalog my stash.

That first lace section makes the yarn super tempting! And the distinction between the 1x vs 2x cable was a great illustration, wow.

Thank you for this information, Barbara😊

Right now it just lives in my computer. I'd have to figure out how to offer it.

All you can do is learn!
👩🏼🦳 👍🏼 Yarn looks like it has a really smooth “ texture “ to it “
Indeed! It's so smooth!
I love that swatch is there any chance of you selling the pattern? Or/and design a rectangle shawl with those elements!
I'll put that on my list of things to think about. it's really not a pattern or anything, just a bunch of elements thrown together LOL.
Please do offer your swatch pattern! I’d gladly pay for a pdf.
