    I do love summer knit videos! Just FYI - I knit Camisole no 9 last summer, in black yarn (I wrote a small novella about it on my Rav page) and, while the design is classic perfection, the pattern was mediocre IMO. Not only that but I can categorically say, it is NOT drafted for a curvy shape at all. Effectively, the armholes are drafted at full bust depth, which is fine if you have no boobs but, with breasts of moderate to larger size it will not fit at all. Also, doesn't come with a schematic, something I prioritize for a paid for pattern, esp one with very minimal instruction. It bothers me no end when I need to spend 3 hours completely decoding a pattern so that I can then start to remath the entire thing. I mean, I've even got my self-redrafted pattern easily at hand to make more of these, as it is very wearable (once sized correctly). But I was so put off by the pattern and process that I don't think I'll make it again. At least not till I forget the experience 🙂

      Thank you so much for your input. That's the kind of information that's super important to know. Even though I have a small chest and i could probably knit it as is, I don't know that I want to spend my money for a pattern that's not well made for many sizes. I'll try to find an alternative, I'm sure there are some.

      came here to say the same thing! i’m in the middle of knitting camisole no. 9 and while the details are gorgeous, it is a very simplistic pattern with no bust shaping/etc. it will fit fine if you buy generally buy camisoles that fit straight and have no issue with them, but it is a mediocre pattern. i don’t know if this is what you’re looking for, but i’m really looking forward to oopnloops’ 6in1 top that is releasing this weekend! it’s not as polished as camisole no 9, but seems to be written with all bodies in mind. also, jessie maed designs come to mind when i think of summer tops, though i haven’t tried her patterns myself.

      Thank you so much for this comment. I have been wanting to knit this, but I have a very full bust. Reading these replies introduced me to Jessie Maed and some really curvy ladies looking good in her designs. Thank you all. If you haven't seen the calm night cami by Lily Kate Makes, I suggest you look it up. She includes some bust darts for us curvy ladies. I am knitting this now and loving the outcome.

    Thanks for some great suggestions. 😊I like the idea of taking a break from the more serious cardigans and pullovers. I e just finished a tank top in cotton/linen. I’m hoping it keeps its shape. That is the problem of non wool yarns. My next one is going to be the Slanting Slip-on by Anne Ventzel. She recommends silk yarn, but I’m planning to use Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Light. It’s so soft that I don’t think it will be a problem to wear next to skin.

    I’ve been “researching” cotton or linen or hemp or silk… blends, with or without wool/alpaca. Narrowed to a few brands (sandnes garn is one). “Oolong Tank” and “Weekend Top” by Aimee Sher are my current plans (wool+linen and Saona - wool+cotton). And then… patterns! Soooo many choices, styles… fun, but I need to get “something” on the needles before summer is over. Um, procrastinator De-Luxe speaking here.
    Can’t wait to see your choices, and I’ll re-watch last year’s vid.
    Thank you for more patterns to add to my Tee, Camisole, Tank lists. sigh. gotta cast on soooon!😊😊

    Thanks for some recommendations. I was thinking why don’t we knit summer stuff in winter and winter garments in summer? We would have our garments ready by the time the weather changes. Just a thought 💭. I understand that in the winter the warmer yarn keeps our hands and laps warm to work on but for some a winter long sleeved sweater could takes months to knit. 🤷‍♀️ thanks for a great podcast. Judy

    Hi, I'm new to your channel. I found it when looking for a tutorial recently - alternating cabled cast on, maybe?
    I love your summer top choices. They are not all things I would make for myself, but they will all be gorgeous on you. My 50+ yr old, slightly overweight body doesn't live negative ease tops, and I've never cared for boat necks on me. You have inspired me to look for some other summer tops to knit though. I'm knitting the sea glass tee right now and am loving it. I wish I had gone for a loser gauge + smaller size though. It's knitting up a bit thick which I think is going to be warmer than I was hoping for.

    I have a question off the topic. Ich knit an oversized raglan sweater with 100% merino wool (hand dyed). Obviously my gauge swatch was not right, because i knit it so that its fits. But after soaking and drying it was waaaaaay to long (body and arms) and too much oversized. I had to unravel the whole thing. I put it in balls, to reduce the kinking and waving in the yarn. So here is the question: the unraveled yarn is streched out now, if i knit this again, do i have to knit with a smaller needle size, because it wont stretch after soaking any more?

    • @cloknits
      @cloknits  4 місяці тому

      First off, is it superwash merino or untreated? Usually when something grows so much it's superwash. Then, wool has memory so when you wash this wool again it will reblock to something you want. Generally it's best practice to put the yarn back into a hank so you can wash it and make it loose the kink, this will give you a better tension for reknitting. If you don't want to go through this step though, you can just go ahead and knit what you want. The gauge of the yarn won't be different from before necessarily but it always a good idea to swatch and wash that swatch anyway to see if you like the fabric the yarn will give you. I hope this helps!

    • @turkish.knits.handmade
      @turkish.knits.handmade 4 місяці тому

      @@cloknits i think it was not superwash, but i dont find the Label any more. I have to check again. Then i will try to wash it again. I dont have those mashines to make unroll it and make it a roll later. I did it by hand

    LOL on silk being 'cooling'. Silk undergarments like long sleeve shirts and long johns are sold for winter, because they keep you nice and warm in the winter. I wore a silk knit top at 4th of July celebration, outdoors, in the shade, with a breeze, and thought I would die from heatstroke. It wasn't even that hot. Am betting the designer lives somewhere a bit cooler, therefore recommending silk and/or a merino blend. I'd love to try that camisole #9 in a nice cotton...
