Very cool to again see the Ti22 @ 6:10 and also Cris Amon #77. You've got bonus footage of 1972 at 7:34 Brumos & Penske 917-10s too.. Great stuff... I was at all of these & the Trans am series as well... Thanks for sharing
I live in Moreno Valley so sad that the track is gone so many great memories!!!!! Now that crappy mall is falling apart... can anyone tell me what’s still there of the track I heard turn 9 But I can’t place it ???
they paved paradise and put up a parking lot. Joni Mitchell had no idea how correct she was, I still live a few hundred yards from Turn 9 and have never accepted it's being leveled and turned over to retail hell. The mall never did well, was built after mall's had their run and were fading, could have been a world class motorsports park, but it sit between unincorporated (then) Riverside County, and the City of Riverside - today 2023, Day Street divides the retail businesses that sit on each side of the street, and the taxes east go to Moreno Valley, west side go to Riverside. In the end, I believe we all lost. MoVal is teaming with warehouses and traffic, even March AFB shares it's runway and footprint with Amazon, it's daily freight is flown into and out of MARB, exactly what killed retail commerce in the USA, so it seems a waste of what was once good space.
Cool vid,but 2 guys talking at once🤦♂️….also, dude says”we Tied the Oil lines together & it was Hitting the Ground & All the Oil Drained out”…Really ?? You Couldn’t Rout the lines Higher Up??😖
One of the narrators is Oscar Koveleski, who was asked in an interview "What's it like to drive these cars flat out?" His answer: I don't know. When I shift it into top gear I shut my eyes. Watched him race in ASR at the 1976 Run Offs at Road Atlanta. Steady rain was falling, I watched Oscar spin the tires out of the final turn (12 or 13, don't remember the original layout.) He ended up second, with the comment that yes he had a set of rain tires, but didn't have an extra set of rims, so he ran slicks.
@@glendavis6933 Well it wasn't to annoy anyone. I've been into motorsports since the mid 60's. I've been around those cars and it was an observation. I didn't expect someone to get offended by my observation. Man you literally cannot say an honest thing anymore.
I lived 6 blocks down the street and used to walk up there with a little camera and take photos. Thanks for the great memories.
Terrific footage from 1970 Riverside. Loved the in car footage of the lap too!
Thanks for the Classic footage. Love it, so cool to be able to see it.
Era of pioneers, brave men and beautiful machines.
this is more valuable than gold

Fantastic footage, wish they had kept the track open..,
I was there.
Same here. My dad took me. I was only 6. Great memory.
Talking about wings????, and not one mention of Jim Hall and Chaparral cars of Texas
The dust/sand is really oil dry to clean up oil dropped by a car that had a failure of some kind.
Looking for Condor racing? Help!

The audio is kinda shit.
Otherwise, the video is great
Well it is from 1970 lol ;)
This isn't very Trans Am looking. Very Can Am though.
What's your point? Enjoy the memories.
