Hey my existing garage door sensor wires seems like they are gone. curious as in how long these stuff lasts without being replaced again it's just an estimate and I know so many things not in our control with wires. Also If I needed to replace those, all the garage repair service stores I'm calling in are saying they won't run those wires through the wall and just keep it laying outside on wall with staples. Is that a right practice. I think it might be difficult to run/fish wire through those walls may be that's why easy work for them? Will you suggest for a quiet a handy guy to carry out this replacement by himself as DIY?
@@hasmukhpanchal7564 it is pretty difficult most times to fish the prewire up through the wall. I guess it depends how much room you have in the attic. You would have to lay down practically to retrieve the wire up by the wall. I've done it, but it's super hard for me because I'm 6'3" 220lbs. Stapling the wire outside of the wall is pretty common. If it's done neatly it doesn't look bad at all. This is definitely a diy. Save some money! 👍🏼
My house was prewired for a garage door opener and the builders left 3 wires hanging down from the ceiling. Are they dangerous to touch? Could they spark off each other and start a fire?
@@octagonocologist nope. If they are safety sensor/ wall button wire, which there would be 3 wires, you're good 👍🏼. Nothing is plugged into them. Those wires are for low voltage for like a garage door opener.

at 2:59: I have some existing holes for existing romex cables leading to light switches. For the addition of this low 18awg voltage wire, can I share an existing hole with romex, or "must" I drill a dedicated hole?
Nice .. like your video short simple and straight to the point..thanks
Thanks for watching!
Great job
Thanks Krums!! 👊🏼
Nice

Have you ever looked for a guest on your channel about marketing strategies for garage door businesses for their wider visibility in google maps?
I'll be honest, I haven't. Do you do that kind of thing.

Do you ever do the pre wiring
@@tylerostreng1652 I do sometimes if it's for a particular builder.
@@garagedoorgenius do you use the thermostat wire
@@tylerostreng1652 yep. Works perfectly and cost effective!
@@garagedoorgenius I like it too 18/2
@@tylerostreng1652 yeah, me too. That's great wire as well. I probably like that better to be honest. How about you?
In a perfect world, every garage would be like this so I wouldn't ever have to run any stupid wires 😂
Right!! 🤣😂🤘🏻
I prefer just the wall button to be pre wired and it just pops through the drywall that's how it's done where I'm at
ugh....I've fixed some many pinched wires....aggrevation!
I agree, very frustrating! 💯
Thats stupid how they're mounted to boxes, here we just pre wire the wall button and we just have it poking out of the drywall
Where ya located?
