I've watched many dogs do this exact thing. To the mail man, to the neighbors, to a sound they heard outside. Even me walking in the house. Sometimes they bark in their sleep and wake themselves up. Good dogs alerting of a potential threat.

Big dogs! Look cool and I’m sure are awesome pets. But I’m putting my money on the bear. Those things are incredibly strong, fast, agile, and tough. That thing can literally climb trees like it’s sprinting straight up. Those paws are huge and I don’t think people realize how powerful they are. Combined with those big ass claws, one good swipe and whatever that thing is hitting is done for. They say a black bear can break a full grown cows neck and back with one swipe of its paw because it’s so strong. Bears have extremely thick skulls and rib cages that make shooting them with a gun difficult. And I’m a dog lover too, but I’m not blind to reality. Even a little bear or young bear like this would be a menace in a fight. Not to mention this is a wild animal with a survivalist mindset and not a domesticated house pet.

No, the bear was uncertain what to do. It has probably never encountered that situation before, doesn’t know what is causing the noise and can’t see into the dark house from the sunlit yard. They don’t know what glass is, of course, it just knows there isn’t any smell that goes with the noise.

Excuses , Excuses ....the bear was no cub...but a juvenile. He was already probably heavier than all those pups put together and much stronger. He didn't seem to be intimated in the least and then dogs didn't really seem to want to engage. I'm thinking about a true story in Russia. A bear, looking for food came upon a Traylor in which he surprised 2 adult men , each with adult dogs. The authorities found 2 dead men with 2 dead dogs...all torn to pieces and partially devoured...and a Traylor totally destroyed. The bear had moved on apparently unhurt
3 grand for a good dog from a good breeder is not too bad. My standard poodle was 3 grand. He was my wife’s first dog. And it seems like between 100 bucks every six weeks for grooming and seems like every month she was taking him to the vet for some crap they tell you. My shepherds for the last 30 years doesn’t have a vet bill combined to match the poodle. Wife died two years ago. So I call the vet to get his yearly supply of flea and tick and the Lyme meds. They said we have to bring the dog in for an exam. I said he is exactly like he was last time he was there. No got to bring him in. I got meds elsewhere that’s how they got so much money out of my wife. Dogs been perfect and doesn’t need a monthly check up and he has this and then he needs this. Sad that a veterinarian would rather keep a healthy dog medicated to meet his financial goals. Unbelievable.

As much as i love dog, they stand no chance against a mother black bear trying to defend itself and protect her baby.
This is not hollywood. It's a mother bear that possess 4 cm long razor sharp claws and a deathfull bite.
Take a walk on the wild side if the mother or father came back it'll be 3 doggy plots in the back yard sad to say

No, the bear was uncertain what to do. It has probably never encountered that situation before, doesn’t know what is causing the noise and can’t see into the dark house from the sunlit yard. They don’t know what glass is, of course, it just knows there isn’t any smell that goes with the noise.
Only because those "mini bears" were behind that glass.... That bear would have scaled that fence in seconds had they been out there.

I dobt think that bear could see them really, probably a glare on the glass. Guy shouda turned on lights in the house so the bear cub could see the danger he was in
Excuses , Excuses ....the bear was no cub...but a juvenile. He was already probably heavier than all those pups put together and much stronger. He didn't seem to be intimated in the least and then dogs didn't really seem to want to engage.

A bear, looking for food came upon a Traylor in which he surprised 2 adult men , each with adult dogs.
The authorities found 2 dead men with 2 dead dogs...all torn to pieces and partially devoured...and a Traylor totally destroyed.
The bear had moved on apparently unhurt

3 grand for a good dog from a good breeder is not too bad. My standard poodle was 3 grand. He was my wife’s first dog. And it seems like between 100 bucks every six weeks for grooming and seems like every month she was taking him to the vet for some crap they tell you. My shepherds for the last 30 years doesn’t have a vet bill combined to match the poodle. Wife died two years ago. So I call the vet to get his yearly supply of flea and tick and the Lyme meds. They said we have to bring the dog in for an exam. I said he is exactly like he was last time he was there. No got to bring him in. I got meds elsewhere that’s how they got so much money out of my wife. Dogs been perfect and doesn’t need a monthly check up and he has this and then he needs this. Sad that a veterinarian would rather keep a healthy dog medicated to meet his financial goals. Unbelievable.
