I have always heard that echo string trimmers, schrub trimmers and most chainsaws are very easy and dependable starting. I have multiple of these and all mine are very dependable. The only drawback to the extendable echo pole saw is the weight. But the other bounuses make up for that. Plus the power is great
Awesome saw. Used one straight for 9 hours (minus gas and water pitstops), and my arms turned into Jell-O.
Man, I love those California hills with all the live oaks and black tail deer. Such a unique environment. Lived out that way in the 90's then came back to Texas. Thanks for the video!

I have the exact same saw and i agree 100% with everything you say. The build quality is amazing, it is just a beautiful thing..
For the first hour or so it was a bit tight and gutless as it ran in, [as you would expect] but after that brilliant..
Like you, i only use the proper premixed fuel, [Husqvarna XP power 2 is what i use] as ethanol will wreck every motor you have..
If anyone is thinking of getting a polesaw, this is the one to get, MEGA pleased with mine as i am with all my Echo saws, [i have three] You can get an extra 4 foot long extension to go on it too that then gives an OVERALL length of 16' 1" so you could probably reach up about 20 or maybe 21 feet with it..
You asked for tips on using a pole saw, so here are two..
1, Do not do an undercut first.. just cut all the way through from the top and then cut off another slice to clean up the end of the branch.. Reason?? If you undercut a bit too far and the saw gets trapped, you will be in big shit, as you will not be able to reach to cut your saw free unless you have a second pole saw!!.
2, When cutting a long branch, cut it off in short sections a bit at a time. If you cut off the whole thing in one go, as the far end hits the ground, the stump end will come down and could land on your saw and damage it..
All in all though, brilliant saw, well worth the money, and the best on the market. There are videos on here trying to make out that "they broke it on the first time out" hinting that these saws are no good, but watch the video, they broke it by dropping a branch on it, what did they think was going to happen??
Oh, and the Echo pole saw uses a proper 3/8 chain too, much better than the tiny chains that some other makes use..
As i say, i love mine, and i am VERY particular with my stuff. You would not want to use it all day, as it is very heavy, but then i am very old, so that does not help!!
If you need a pole saw, this is the one to get.. Oh, one final point, there are TWO models, one has the funny curved handle, the other has the straight one, like the one in this video. I have the straigh handled version too, and this is what i would recommend, as you want to be using a pole saw at funny angles [as you would with any saw] and how you going to do that if you can only hold it in the one position??
Here in europe at least, the curved handle version is PPT2620ES and the straight handled version that i would recommend [same one as in this video] is a PPT2620HES although the straight one seems to be rare in shitty europe for some reason..

Thanks John! I am trying to decide on which handle version to get. I've heard the straight handle has a bit more reach and can be used in multi positions like you mentioned. I think i'll go with the straight handle also.

2620 is the way to go for sure. and you are so right , you can produce a ton of brush that needs to cleaned up in a sort amount of time and the shoulder harness is junk. The only cons that I saw with the dedicated pole saw are the same that I saw with the 2620 brush cutter, I bought to clear some under brush. #1 cost, #2 It does only 1 thing. I quickly realized I needed one engine to do multiple tasks so I was able to return the 2620 brush cutter and I bought the 2630 power head PAS with the different attachments. They are all warranted the same, 2 yr commercial 4 year residential. Now I have most of the attachments, adding them as I need them, but only 1 engine to maintain and haul around and store. Thanks for the video. Nicely done.

Can you turn the Pole Saw upside down, for your pre-cut? Will the Chain still get Lubricated? This position is so you don’t get a kick back, and possibly injuring your wrist.

good question! I was really thinking i needed or wanted the curved handle but the more i use it, the more i find my self getting max reach by using it over my head which the curve handle wouldn't help.. But i bet it is 50/50 pro vs con
Does grapple or bucket work better for platform when trimmings
they are both pretty sketchy options lol but if i had to choose one it would be the grapple because i can open it wide and lean against it. i also use my pallet forks with a pallet on them but u need to secure it tight👍

I have rented from HD and had good luck with the Echo. They also provide a helmet, orange safety pants, and fuel and oil so I think it's a reasonable fee. But it is heavy and using it for one day will give you a workout if you are older. Lately, every time we have a storm there has been tree come down and this is in a suburban area. I had to return early this time and the chain came off and I could not figure out how to get it back on and they got after me but Now I know how to put it back on.
I want to get the PAS 225, how does it hold up compared to the 2620?
I love my 225 and highly recommend it but never had a 2620 so can’t compare

I just ordered one, though the Canadian price is $950.
So far I have put 25 hours on my Kubota running a chipper to clean up from what i cut with a 120V SunJoe, which is still in good condition. I decided a move up a couple of grades is in order. The power cord was becoming a pain, and now I'll be able to limb trees in puddles.
wow That is pricey but there's nothing better than getting the performance you expect out of spending so much money.Have fun with it!
