- Friendship ended with My Little Pony, Puss in Boots is my new best friend.
I'm kidding of course, but Puss in Boots: The Last Wish has been occupying my thoughts - and my UA-cam History, for weeks now, and I figured the only way to get my life back in order was to compile my disparate thoughts into a cohesive video. I hope you enjoy it.
New pony content coming soon. I've been experimenting with new styles of video (i.e. not compilations or memes) and the process is slow as I work out new techniques and pipelines. I appreciate your continued patience.
Puss In Boots: The Last Wish instantly became one of my favorite animated films of 2022, it was a real treat to hear Antonio and Selma reprise their roles again after 11 years!

One of my favorite details is Kitty's massive eye roll when Puss kicks over the bags of gold and hams it up for the crowd as they're escaping the pie factory on the cart.
The dark-haired Serpent Sister was trying to signal to Jack that she understood that her sister was being very stupid and to not take it out on her too.
We can love an appreciate both ponies and cats (and puppies too).
After seeing _The Bad Guys_ I wasn't sure about the future of DreamWorks, because is hard to have two good movies in a row after all this years of DreamWorks tumbling down, but _Puss In Boots The Last Wish_ is awesome. Now I'm in love with both movies (Bad Guys and Last Wish), truly excited about future releases from the studio, and waiting for that Shrek comeback.

When Puss says he laughs in face of death in the poster scene,death can be seen being angry by his claw scratch and grip being stronger in first encounter.

I went to see this in theaters before all the hype and I was so surprised that it was actually good, and the more time goes by the more I love it

I haven't watched a Shrek movie in forever, I only saw the first Puss in Boots movie a couple months ago, and it was pretty good, watched this movie today and it was phenomenal, and with that ending, I'm pumped for Shrek 5, which is something I never thought I'd say because... why is there a Shrek 5?! Hopefully they have a really solid story and maybe even keep this animation style because the brightness of the colors and brush strokes look beautiful, I'm really curious what the rest of the cast of this world would look like. It's obviously inspired by Spider-verse, but less visually overstimulating, but also unburdened from the trend of trying to make everything look real that a lot of 3D animation had been tending towards, including Dreamworks. The Bad Guys was a breath of fresh air for that studio in the visuals, and I'm excited to see the combinations that can come from blending mediums and styles of animation.
watching this in theaters was such a great experience, im really looking forward to more dreamworks movies if they are like this
People always harp about the Baker's Dozen being okay after the posies fight as an inconsistency without realising that the reason they were unwounded was the phoenix. The Ethical Bug loses a leg and a wing when Jack flicks him away. This can be seen in the scene where he resigns, he only has three legs, yet when he shows up again he has four legs and two wings, and the only thing he did previously was that he rode the phoenix.
As for the bakers eaten by the posies. They were never digested, just eaten, since flowers contain an awful lot of water this would have saved them from Jack flame throwing them. It would have given them horrible burns, and these would be easily solvable by applying the phoenix to them.
If you look close at the scene of Jack using the "flame thrower" from overhead, you can see one of the Dozen *on fire* doing a Stop, Drop, and Roll on the grass.
@@MrCookieCat That just means he was outside of a flower when Jack shot. It's also a good argument for his surviving and then later being healed up by the phoenix since wounded people are a major hindrance to everything.
I mean he DID tell them not to be near where he was flamethrowing

Yeah, this movie was amazing, my favorite animated movie in the last few years for sure. All the characters are great, their interactions are entertaining and the story is well thought out. Might be my favorite dreamworks movie overall even.

I don’t know if I agree that it’s better than Shrek 2, but it is a really well crafted film and definitely up there with Shrek 2, thank you for pointing out all these little details because I didn’t notice some of them and they really are great.
1:10 I just noticed he hops 7 times and at that point in time he had already lost 7 of his 9 lives (before the 8th shortly after of course) and I’m wondering if that was intentional or if I’m just overthinking it

"Just right" isn't a joke. It's a motif. It is often used comedically, but is also used dramatically in super serious moments where it's not intended to be funny.
Just like "On the one hand... On the other hand... On the gripping hand..." can take over your brain if you hear other people using it enough, "Too X... Too Y... Just right" is presented as a lens these four characters view the world through. The fact that they do it so much is a bit funny, but the motif isn't a joke in and of itself.
Jack's deformed teeth are commonly found with people who suck on their thumb for too long.

I found this video while checking all his old videos that were marked for kids despite having swearing, dirty humor and "Corpselike glimmer" to try and mitigate it. Gotta love UA-cam lol. That being said, The Last Wish was the best movie of 2022 imo. Absolutely gorgeous animation in 2 and 3D with a great story.

Did Puss say "salty" or "insulting"? Because I personally hear insulting. Also, the Goldi part where she is looking through the book that says "Just right". If you look back a second or two and take all the letters from the beginning of each line it says "You already have it." Meaning she already has her family. And in the scene where the doctor tells Puss he died the doctor blows out a candle and right before the Wolf shows up at the bar a candle goes out. Also, in the doctor scene where the number cards are counting each of Puss's deaths up in the corner you see a little red drawing of Death with his sickles.
Closes captions say “salty” in the iTunes version. I learned about the acrostic fact from the directors commentary after making the video. Posted about it on the movie details subreddit - I hope that’s where you learnt this because that would be hilarious

I saw a review that found it odd that Jack Horner was the last fight when Puss has already overcome Death and completed his narrative arc. Jack Horner is the villain to Goldie instead of Puss. This can be seen in how their abstract desires mirror each other. They both want the wish to gain something they desire whereas Puss wants the wish to avoid the consequences of a reckless life.
While Puss and Kitty deliver the attack on Jack they're only able to do so because Goldi getting them there. Goldi is also the one initiating the tearing of the map. She nods in the assurance that the only way they can solve this is by doing the obvious. Puss and Kitty who already got what they wished for with no magic required merely acknowledge her determination.
I think Jack Horner is the final battle because the writers needed a believable reason for the other characters not to use the wish. Sure, they all realized they already had what they came for, but it would have been silly not to use it for something else.

It also mirrors the fight with the Giant of Del Mar at the beginning (which happened before Puss encountered Death).

How come in your pain compilation, you didn’t include rainbow dash flying into the wall during what my cutie mark is telling me?!
Only used one clip per episode, and I had already done a lot of Rainbow Dash clips
I know this isn’t about the vid but for your mlp videos you just need to got to the editing settings and change it to not for kids other wise UA-cam’s filter will see mlp and put it in UA-cam kids.It’s most likely already there and kids will see it. If it wasn’t obvious enough UA-cam isn’t great at separating it’s platforms and doing good monitoring on them so it mixed this UA-cam with the kids one even though UA-cam kids isn’t really kid friendly because of it. It’s something I’ve hated about it and I thought I would say just in case you didn’t know.
I do this already. YT removed the flag automatically and rejected my appeal. I literally don’t have the ability to change it back.
