So I’m assuming the puppeteers actually did taste the cookies and they somehow had to eat them and express their real opinions about them while keeping the voices and characters going…yes I know there was a lot of editing involved to make that process seem smoother than it actually was, though it would have been hilarious to watch how that really played out. @retroflashbackdude Marty Robinson (Telly's puppeteer) wrote a blog about it, and yes, that's exactly how it went down. The puppets can't touch the actual cookies, because the oil would damage their fur, so they had to shoot the monsters eating the cookies with fake props later.

Correct the ice cream things aren’t cookies. In its simplest form a cookie is a thin flat sweet cake. While I appreciate the ingenuity... it’s not a cookie
