      Hookless, higher volume tires are what likely let him stay on his bike longer.

      @jooohan totally, but I'm guessing the upcoming turns, gradient and size of the group resulted in him wanting to wait. He wasn't in pink yet and the field would have attacked if they knew he went back for a mechanical

    • @veganpotterthevegan
      @veganpotterthevegan 8 місяців тому

      @jooohan its a long race and you're not always thinking about everything. Common sense slipped his mind. You can slip with a front flat with any type of tire. Hookless doesn't really change that, I know 2 of my very worse crashes came from people falling and rolling tubulars in front of me, one being a flat and the other rolling while not being a flat. People also ride on flats into turns and don't crash so you get a false sense of security. But in the end, I think he really didn't wanna do a change and lose actual sight of the group by getting a bike before the turn

    This was just a good old-fashioned puncture. Trying to take a corner with a flat front tyre, regardless of your wheel and tyre set up, is always going to end badly, this is nothing to do with hookless.

    • @AnarchoKapital
      @AnarchoKapital 8 місяців тому

      @@WanderingSword I have watched the clip numerous times now and I just can’t see what you believe to see. He fell because he tried to turn on a flat tire. Only then did the sealant spray out, not the other way round. Looking at it from a physics perspective it makes total sense: as long as you go in a straight line there is no force that would lead to the tire coming off. When turning, sideways forces are applied.

    • @WanderingSword
      @WanderingSword 8 місяців тому

      @@AnarchoKapital guys like Hambini and PeakTorque already talked about hookless rim from a physics perspective. You can go google them. But you don't understand the physics of how these tires are held into the rim. It's all friction, there is no physical interlocking. If the pressure goes, then so goes the friction between tire and rim. And just because a wheel roll "straight" it doesn't mean it ain't wobbling. How do you think car tires come off on the fwy when they get a flat while the car is still going straight?
