I have a universal Atoto version in my old Volvo V40 but not as OEM looking as yours. (Not much available specifically for a 2001 V40) It works perfectly, has better sound quality than the original unit and such a simple upgrade for older cars giving wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Enjoy. 👍
Installed the same into mine, great unit! The only issue I have is a sudden bump in volume when turning it up past 9/10 column setting but apart from that it looks great and does a lot
Quite a cool looking unit. I have an E46 B3 Alpina so I wanted to keep my interior looking original. I put a Bluetooth dongle thing in the boot plugged in to the CD auto change, and just use my phone.
Lewis and Leanne , Do ,es the girls like the Dads old , new car , and also Laura remember the E46 the first time around, are you going give the E46 complete repaint to bring her back for greatness
I'm surprised you are so impressed with DAB. The sampling rates are mostly between 128KBits/second and 320KBits/second and are also MPEG compressed. With CD the sampling rate is 1.4MBits/second for each channel and there is no MPEG compression.
Even the BBC transmit some DAB stations at 96 kbps, which still sounds far superior to FM. If you compare DAB to CD then obviously, its a lower bit rate. But DAB isnt a replacement for CD, it replaced FM. If you want to compare to CD, then the right test would be using media stored on an SD card plugged into the unit.

Looks great in your BMW, I placed one in my 2008 Porsche Cayenne S, and I love it. It was easy to hook up and works like a charm.
I can’t believe how OEM that looks.
It's like it came out of the factory like that! Think I might add a BMW boot logo just for good measure!
Now that's a sweet system love it.👍
Can't wait to add on the cameras and other extras!
@@WhitelandRestorations With a good camera it will go from sweet to epic, will be watching when you get there.
So where did you place your mic and how well does it work? Curious to what mic you are using also by the way.
Looks good. I opted for a Bluetooth module in place of the boot mounted CD changer, as I love the look of the OE business unit with cassette player.
That's a good idea, keeping the retro cassette. Best thing about these cars is that you can make them just how you want.
love this series.
Thank you! We're really enjoying bringing the car back to its former glory!

Can't say that we've noticed that, I will have a look and see!
@@WhitelandRestorations thanks for your reply,it might have something to do with the new speakers and tweeters I installed. My OEM speakers were gone
Top job guys.
Thank you!

That's another good way of doing it!
Can you share a link of the dongle you used please
@eupel1 here you go 😁👍 amzn.to/3Z52h0e
Make up a usb drive of royalty free music for demo. It's a lovely bit of kit this!
Now that is a genius idea! Why didn't we think of that 😂
Looks the part in dash
You wouldn't know it didn't come out of the factory like that 👌
It really does, much nicer than massive ipad stuck to the dash style of new cars.
Yes we didn't want a head unit that sticks up in the air and ruins the lines of the E46 dash!
Very nice!
Looks great doesn't it! Brings everything right up to date
Would love something like this for my Saab 93.
I'm sure you could have a universal unit if you found a double din surround?
@@WhitelandRestorations It is a 2005 so not really upgradable. It looks really good in the BMW tho - great upgrade.

Yes the car will be getting a full repaint! We're currently trying to decide on a colour!
I don't even have radios in my cars.
Some cars don't need them!
But does it sound ok?????
Better than stock
It's better than the stock unit that's for sure!
Suprised to see your listening to asian network. 😂
Love a bit of Bollywood music on the weekend 😬
I'd prefer a CD if I could, it delivers a more accurate sound of the music and isn't created by a chip like everything nowadays.
I'm pretty sure music from a CD is also delivered via a chip........and lasers!

The sampling rates of DAB don't really bother us too much. The audio sounds great to us as we're driving along 👍

Comparing radio to CD? That makes zero sense. How are you supposed to listen to your favourite radio station on CD? 🤔
wow that UI looks like shit
