Wow, definite Into the Breach vibes, even more than I expected from the screenshots. Very very similar water tiles, housing structures making comments, etc.
Holy crap this game oozes style. Even just little details, like the Kaiju attacking making the surrounding tiles bob a little, gives a sense of weight. I am not big on strategy games, because i am terrible at them, but want to support this game so much.
Hey of you're terrible at them, try the Mario + Rabbids games, because they are absolutely brilliant strategy/tactics games, some of the very best in the whole genre (even the creator of X-Com has heaped enormous praise on them and has said that it's completely changed how he's gonna approach developing the next X-Com, saying he's going to incorporate ideas from them into X-Com), but they're still pretty damn easy. They do get difficult towards the end, the final boss of the first game for example is hard as balls. But yeah they're definitely a lot more relaxed than playing an actual X-Com game. The first game single handedly got me into the genre and I've bought tons of tactics games since then, but none have been quite as good, really. I'll probably buy this game too, Kaiju Wars, and I'll probably buy the Advance Wars remake, and so on, but the Mario + Rabbids games will probably always be my favourite. They've got an unbelievable amount of polish, they're really quite beautiful
I 100% related to your "going to block buster" comment! I used to do the same thing as well as I never ended up watching as many Godzilla movies as I should have even though I loved them
I know the plot doesn't really matter, but i'm gonna nitpick it just for fun: So, the Professor has a PhD in Kajiulogy. Despite the fact that Kajiu only emerged recently. So nobody would seriously acknowledge "Kajiulogy" as a valid research topic before that. Meaning she couldn't possibly get a PhD in that.
