  • Yo!! What's up, dudes?!?! A few people asked for a dedicated video for the Ibanez RG760, so here it is. I'm running through Peavey Revalver 4 for the amp sim. The bridge pickup is a vintage "MJ" Full Shred from Seymour Duncan, wound by Maricella Juarez. Check it out!

Every now and then, I come across this dude’s vids on the tube. Easily the most entertaining guitar reviewer on UA-cam. As a bonus, the sound quality doesn’t suck.

Robert Baker Hey, are you getting comment notices? I haven't got an email re: comments in over a week. I get one if someone responds to a comment, but never if it's just a comment. Weird.

Robert Baker Ahh, that makes sense. Hopefully I'll figure out the fix once they get them separated. When I try to go my settings, I'm automatically taken to Google+. I thought I screwed it up, somehow, and could not figure out how to fix it.

PixxyLixxx over a month ago they anounced they where seperating google+ from yourtube so now you dont have to have a google+ account to have a yourtube channel. It's freaking messing up notifications for sure im getting them 1/2 the time in the indicator .. sometimes i have to go into the creator studio to get them/see them

Man, I remember living in Indy at the time and there were two big shops at the time I went to. One had the killer Charvels in the windows and I was just dying to get one. ThI they gave me a catalog that thought was a Charvel catalog, but could have been a Jackson and it had Steve Vai, and all the good players at the time.
Then I went to another store and they had just got in the new Ibanez guitars and I remember at the time not liking the looks of them. The same store had loads of Kramers and I lusted over those, especially the one's with the flip flop paint jobs and American versions (ESP Built) with neck thru bodies and Duncans. I'm 54 and can remember those days with great joy!

Video duration is always a hot topic, personally I like your shorter videos sub 15mins, the longer ones take me a few views to get through unless I'm in my garage and your like having the radio on. As for me making longer videos I prefer that, I find it easiest to make 40 min content vs 4 min content. Sadly youtube is geared to make video's popular if they are being watched. That sux because 90% of people have very short attention spans, and UA-cam is a sight of many distractions. I can see that people who watch through tables and phones will hang around for only a few mins average, yet people watching on a TV will watch for up to 15 mins average. Problem is 90% of my views come via blasted mobile devices, I dare say your in the same boat. Rock on Pixxy, enjoy your Fall (Autumn)

      I agree.
People go crazy over JB and it seems every guitar company keeps putting that awful sounding JB and jazz combo.
      Full shred is mid output.
Very balanced lows, mids and highs.
Sits so well in the mix.
JB just smears into the bass and drums.
It wants to take over which is not a good thing while recording.
Maybe playing live is a different story.

This model was my main guitar until recently, and I bought it in 89! Cool guitar for sure. I got mine for $600 with a case which was a monster deal at the time. Most stores in 89ish had this guitar around $799 without a case. Maybe they were priced higher where I lived, but they definitely weren’t going for $300-500 in stores from what I remember. Mine also has a Floyd rose whammy. And I do remember the brochure. It had all the guys you mentioned, Paul Gilbert and Vinnie Moore as well. Thanks for the review!

Hey Steve quick question for you, when using pedals on a regular amp, such as my 5150 50w head, how do I stop them from taking power from my amp? Should they be true bypass, should I get one of those Voodoo Lab Power supplies, or am I just doing something wrong? Also Should I plug them in through the back of the amp head using the return and send part, or just plug the cables from the amp, to the pedals and into my guitar?

I personally think the SD Full Shred is a killer pup. Its more versatile and adaptive than most high output pickups. Its absolutely perfect for rock. But you can actually pull a PAF type tone out of it with some tweaking. I can't tell you how many fellow guitarists have just drooled over the tone i could get out of it. If you own a Katana amp?? Crank the master,.....put everything at noon except the volume,.....and you throw a T.C. Electronics Dark Matter in front, and from there,....you can begin to extract a very useable and articulate PAF type tone out of it. And mind you,...that Dark Matter pedal is a serious hidden gem when used correctly. Its an amazing pedal. And very inexpensive. Its worth buying just because of how cheap it is.

    Hey Steve,
having owned lots of Ibby's, is there any Ibanez you can receommend which suites following criteria:
    - fixed bridge (string-thru is also okay)
    - mahogany body
    - fretmarkers (not the floral stuff like JEMs, nice and clear fretboard inlays)
    - H/H pickup setup
    - good sound (meaning no cheap hardware, pickups will be changed anyways)
    - usual great playability of the Wizard necks
    - well priced
    - can be aquired second hand
    - preferably RG or RGD shape (ART and S and others are not my cup of tea)
I've been all over the net find such a guitar but no success... I hope you can help me :(

I bought my first guitar in 1990 and it was a white RG760. I paid around 400$ brand new. Pretty good deal. The hardware is in fact kind of a smokish metallic color. The single coils are what they call "vertical" humbuckers, single coil sound without any hum. I still own this guitar today... with the original USA made C2 and F2 pickups and the original edge trem. It still stays in tune perfectly. A really well made guitar.

However, I’m not exactly thrilled with the pups, especially the neck. It’ll do for now, but thinking about the PV HP Special pups or a Dimarzio Bluesbucker in the neck and Duncan Full Shred in the bridge. Thoughts? Oh...and I have a Tech21 Fly Rig 5 going through a Tech21 Power Engine 60. You should definitely check that out. Great tone that is amazingly portable. \m/ :)

An RG760 with case for under $300 is a ridiculous deal. Everyone goes for the RG5xx series guitars, but the RG7xx series came with better electronics. I don't think you're finding them for even $500 now though. Guitar prices have gone nuts for good used gear. Back in the early 2000's I bought and sold so many RG's and BC Rich STiii's for under $300, now people want upwards of $1k. :(

I have a Harley Benton 655 left handed I hate the pick ups so I’ve ordered some Seymour Dunkins cause I’ve never used them and I have a good credit with the company so I just wanted to see how they sound because I don’t like ceramic magnets
