First Time on a 1000cc Literbike | Yamaha R1

  • In all honesty, I have ridden a 1000cc bike before. However, it was within my first couple months of riding, and I was scared to actually ride it. I didn't even go on the highway or go more than 50% throttle. This time I swung my leg over, it was a completely different story lol.
    2012 Yamaha YZF-R1, with it's signature 1000cc Crossplane crankshaft, an absolute beastly inline 4 cylinder engine. Coming from an R6, the torque this thing puts out is monstrous. Literally, it's unbelievable! I don't think I'd ever run from the cops simply because there's too much at risk for me, but I COMPLETELY understand why someone might do it on this bike.
    Throttle response is unreal, it feels like a jet on wheels. Honestly, I don't think I need a bike this powerful lol. I'd like to ride the 2015+ R1 someday, maybe that bike is a little smoother. All in all, I'm glad I got to experience this bike. Really makes you realize how poor of a rider you are compared to the MotoGP guys that are dragging knees on bikes like this!

    Hey, great vid! Well handled given it was your first time in a few months . . . Quick question, what set up do you use for your videos ? Camera , Mount , Bluetooth Headset ? -- I aspire to go to the isle of man TT races next year with my brother and would love to get some onboard footage & audio like the stuff displayed in your video... any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Having multiple sources of AV is kind of a hastle... I usually just use two GoPro's, each with their own external microphone. Synchronize AV from both sources using a clap, and then mix them together in post production... Hastle, but resulting product is usually pretty nice

    literbikes are a nice balance between power, speed, and handling, and ridden sensibly they're quite safe. You're at much greater risk of crashing riding wheelies on a 600 than you are ripping the gears on a literbike.

    • @NotAMotoVlog
      @NotAMotoVlog  6 років тому +2

      touristguy87 definitely depends on how close you get to balance point. Much less room for error on an R1 at 12 o clock than an R6

    • @NotAMotoVlog
      @NotAMotoVlog  7 років тому +1

      durty1252 is there any room to stop? If not, your best bet is to usually just lean further into it, make sure you're countersteering. show me a video please?

    • @NotAMotoVlog
      @NotAMotoVlog  7 років тому +3

      Oh yea I saw that video, scary af... Honestly that rider had so much more usable lean on his tires, it just looked like he panicked and then target fixated. If he had pushed that left clip-on a little harder he could have easily tucked and carried through that corner. If possible I'd recommend you try a track day sometime, really lets you explore the limits of you and your machine. Will help you out a lot on the street if you come into situations like that one. Hope that guy is doing okay :(

      Gallardo Billiano damn bro that sucks. I've been down like 4 times or so on my R6, shit happens when you're pushing the limits I guess. Second gear is way easier to ride out, the only time I ever looped my bike was when I was first learning wheelies and in 1st gear

      Gallardo Billiano honestly I can't really say for sure. I didn't take his bike to the Twisties since I wasn't comfortable enough riding it fast yet. From what I've heard though it is a little heavy, but still manageable. If I got an R1 in the future it would probably be the new one since they are more flickable
