Agree. On my first and second month, I made 20% so I set this as my small starting target. Full time job is quite demanding so could only trade on days off. Initially, set to take 8-15% profit for each trade and stuck to it. But I missed some 2x-4x runs so I decided to hold for longer. Unfortunately, this was a bad decision. Didn’t bail out quick enough and was left bag holding. Now 30% down on my bag holds(T_T) Not as extreme as the some of the comments I see where traders 10x then lost all but still hurts.

@@anyanwujude6491 Personally, I put in 2+ months of work, 8 hours a day minimum with at least 3 months of backtesting my strategy using Market Replay. It all depends on the person. Most important is risk managment,your goal should be to not lose your money, the profits will then come by themselves.
I am probably a little guilty of number 2. I went in on both Game Stop and AMC because of UA-cam chatter. I experimented with a strategy of my own. My timing on Game Stop wasn’t great, but I still made a 15% profit. I did better with AMC and made a 43% profit so far. I didn’t risk enough in the first place for this to be life altering.
At the very beginning of my trading journey, I've told myself I woud've never started trading with real money until I double my demo account. I've done that in four months and then started for real. Still profitable! 😎

stop losses are great, but you need a larger account to use them to their full potential. Being able to jump back into a trade is big. Seeing stop losses as adjusting fee rather than losses is big.
There are also those who do not put a stop loss, but this requires a zero understanding. For people with less capital, stop loss is not all they need, a loss-to-profit ratio is needed, losses can be consecutive but the gain must be much higher
Im still using paper money. But today i tryed popular trends in fx using a bot. Every possession took failed hard! (I tryed 11 of them) shes right about planning your moves. When i want to try a new strategy i use a demo account

I did paper trading and learn from multiple courses and 1 course was legit and got the best info, it came also with a community. After 6 months of learning/practicing also practicing with real money for the “emotions etc.” Now after all that hard work every day, I am now making consistently 1-2K a day “real money” and I am 20 years old still in school, so everything is possible!
I will say that Tim Sykes chat room helped me a TON when I was a new trader in 2014. It was expensive, but the insight I gained from the veteran members (not even from Tim himself) was very valuable. I haven't paid for his service in 7-8 years, but some times it is beneficial to pay for advice. At the same time it is risky because of all the snake oil salesmen.
my biggest mistakes are penny stocks.. such pump and dumps,get in get out quick, play blue chip stocks way safer if goezs down wait will go back uppenny stocks you will holda bag for long time
Hard to day trade a small acct with the pdt rule though. Other option is to have a large enough acct to bypass the pdt rule, but trade with a size as if you only had a 5k acct. With that said, i used a small 5k cash acct taking tiny position sizes so that i could take many trades a day/week to learn during my first year.
I started with a 25k account and moved to a 140k account. I guess people's personal experience and opinions are at odds here because for me, personally, it's WAYYY easier to make money with a large account
I just started last week and made 4k from 80$ in 4 days and lost 3k in 2 days all because I didn't calculate and adapt my stop outs well enough when the dma doubled. Harsh lesson and definitely humbled. It made me even more motivated tho to learn and manage my risks efficiently.

Can you do a video on superficial loss/wash sale? If you trade the same stocks throughout the year and have say 50k in losses, but also made 60k in gains on the same stock, will the cra view you as making 60k gains instead of 10k?
Risk management! You have one job as a trader and it's to avoid losing your account! No account, no trading. You can do everything else right but mismanage equity and it's for naught. Get risk under control and maybe, maybe then an account will grow.

Currently in my second year of trading, recently started with risk: reward and it helped me out a lot. I frequently make trades between 2-3 reward, winrate is not that high but I would like to improve my winrate a little with a reward of 3+. I would like learn to know how to identify when price could go up a lot and when not!
Personally, I found that price action is the most accurate. I dont think it is possible to predict just how high the price will go. But generally(NOT always!) Ive found (in the futures market at least) that the larger the consolidation at the support/resistance,the larger the breakout will be. Consolidation is basically a pressure cooker. This has just been my personal experience,it is NOT financial advice.
I am glad to see I am not the only one that got ruined from the pandemic trading hype-trend. I ve lost 19k £ in 2 years... I think I've made most of the mistakes however this passion is now becoming my job and I'm improving with little steps. PSICOLOGY and DISCIPLINE is everything! I am now with a prop firm and learned quickly how bad can be no rushing is the key.
I have blown up multiple account where I would make consistent profits for weeks and move stop loss on one trade that ends up blowing up the whole account. It took me years to get over that habit.

You need a realistic profit target BEFORE going into a trade. Buying and then holding it keeps on going up will probably wipe you out. Just personal experience,not financial advice.

It may sound counter-intuitive but early success can be a bad thing. One successful month does not make a trading career but can doom it.

The “Stop Loss” is your best friend!!! Patience, combined with discipline pays off in the long run. 👍
If your stop loss doesnt hit and the stock goes up. Do you have to cancel the stop loss order before you put in a sell order? Using fidelity

I do swing trading personally, just shorted 3.8k on CIT stock and my trades are working for me since I strated.
I got myself caught in a pump for UEC and am negative 12k. I'm still holding in hopes of it going back up before the end of this year.

Try swing trading it's not as risky as day trading and if you are consistenly profitable you can move on to day trading
