Guitar....Cable....Amp - Get the Sounds you Need with No Pedals

- I had a soul gig come in, where I was the dep guitarist. All the usual tunes, land of 1000 dances, soul man, midnight hour, tears of a clown, etc...
All the classics, which if one listens to, has virtually no effects on guitar.
Here, I demonstrate the versatility of a guitar and an amp if you use the drive channel and the volume control to get a wide range of tones that mean you can engage more with the other players and not have to stomp on anything to change stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I have many effects pedals and digital this that and the other, but sometimes the only sounds you really need are in the guitar and amp alone...

Love this guy. People say I’m weird when I say I don’t use pedals, now there’s two of us ha ha!!!!
Marty Stuart and Kenny Vaughan also play without pedals. They use amps like the Princeton and Deluxe Reverb.
@@dale116dot7 EVH claims he didn’t use pedals.
I've been playing guitar for fourty years and I've been done using pedals for about a decade and a half now. Best move I made
I think you are a musical genius.
Aw cheers mate....
Resistance, frequency, bleed capacitor. I love it when you talk dirty Dan!😂
😂😂😂
I've been addicted to gear and pedals for years. Recently i found a sort of compromise when i bought a Line 6 Catalyst. It has some helix amp models and effects built in so i just set up a gainy boosted marshall type of sound with abit of tape delay and plate reverb and then it's just pickup and volume control all gig. It's so freeing and sounds as good as any pedalboard, valve amp rig i've used in the past
I love those soul songs. Great tips as always.
Cheers John!
Yes please 😎
Thank you so much❤ for your educational Content
👏👏👏👏BRAVO
so..
So we can Use and play Electric Guitar without pedal?
because of Built in effects Tone and Volume on the Guitar yes?
Worked for Angus! 🤘🎸
I just saw another video on the benefits of not using pedals. There is a lot of tweaking to get the sounds you want and each pedal having separate volumes. It takes a lot of hassle away. To just plug into the amp. I have seen monster pedal boards and that gives me a headache just looking at them.
I am a guitar into amp guy, reverb if I’m playing alone but that’s in the amp and a headstock clip on tuner.
Great advice Dan.. I think the more you play like this, the better you know your gear.. especially if you’re a 1 guitar/amp kind of player.. 👍
I agree. I have several guitar/amp combinations but each one has its pros and cons...
Hello Dan. I enjoy your videos very much. Senheiser 609 or 906 that mic. There is a big price difference in the two.
It’s the cheaper one!
Interesting vid, I share your point of view! How do you tune your guitar on stage (without a pedal), with a clip tuner, or just by ear ?
I do it by ear. I have absolute pitch, but I also tune the strings together testing many combinations as I go. The circle of fifths involves fifths being slightly closer than perfect and fourths being slightly wider than perfect...
The icons just plugged into an amp, or used a couple pedals. People these days have whole boards, to copy what a guitar into an amp did😂
You are…We are… a bit weird hahaha. But you’re a brilliant artist though!
😂😂😂
Glen Campbell never needed nothin.
