For Lady Gaga you missed an important detail, fusari was meant to text her calling her ‘Radio Gaga’ but ‘Radio’ got autocorrected to ‘Lady’ and thus, she decided that’s what she would call herself!
Another reason I've heard that Damon and Jamie chose "Gorillaz" is because the collective name for a group of Gorillas is "a band." So it's quite literally a band of Gorillas.
8:46 I'm fairly certain Frank took "Ocean" from Frank Sinatra's character in the original Ocean's Eleven, who was named Danny Ocean. George Clooney only reprised that role.
There is a similar story regarding R&B singer Billy Ocean (of "Caribbean Queen" fame), who thought of the original Ocean's 11 movie when choosing his stage name
Seth Rollins was called Tyler Black on the indies, so he changed his name when he came to WWE. For Rollins, Seth is a huge metal fan, and a fan of Black Flag in particular. The frontman, Henry Rollins, is where Seth got the last name As for Seth, it straight up isn’t a common name in wrestling, so Seth decided to use it from here on out
Don't know if it's true so fact-check if you're interested but I've heard that the reason Eminem changed his name from M&M is because he was in an argument with his Mother and made the acronym "Everyone's Mother Is Nice Except Mine" and it just stuck from there
In case anyone was wondering wwe wants to be able to trademark their wrestlers stage names that’s why most wrestlers don’t use their own names. And Seth Rollins name came about because he liked the name Seth and a nod to Henry Rollins.
Yeah Jamie Hewlett was the co-creator of Tank Girl. He did the illustrations. In Gorillaz, he was the visual artist. He designed the band members, with Albarn working on the music. Both came up with ideas for the characters of the members, but Hewlett was the one who drew them. Hewlett has done various things in his career, but he's predominantly known as an artist.
First of all hell yeah you watch wrestling and I was hoping you’d say Seth FREAKIN Rollins😂 I would love a video of maybe a breakdown of the importance of wrestling theme songs. Why do some work and other don’t? Idk just an idea. I think of stone colds when you hear that glass shatter and that menacing guitar or even currents like Seth Rollins.
The format of this video makes me suspicious after watching hbomberguy's video Edit: tbh after finding out it's just a random list he made, I get it now
Also... He could have just misspoken, but he says Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett were previously in Blur. Jamie Hewlett is an artist, he co-created Tank Girl, as the illustrator. As co-creators of Gorillaz, Albarn was responsible for the music, and Hewlett the visuals. He designed the band members. Both Albarn and Hewlett would come up with ideas for the characters of the members but Hewlett is the one who drew them. Yeah, it isn't egregious misinformation, it's kind of nitpicky. Again, he could've just misspoke. But I guess... It's kind of lazy content in general? It's an alphabetical list of stage names, with a bunch of them being an artist's real name or a slight variation of it.
To answer why business wise people do this. It’s so they can still own their own name. In the music industry, if you’re signed to a label and use your regular first and last name, the label owns that name. Same with wrestling. WWE for example owns the name John Cena. So anytime he’s in a movie or commercial, they get a cut. Like a 360 deal in music. So having a stage name is just another way to keep your own name.

How tf does radio become Lady?
@@ZayWilson-v8l he might have accidentally mistyped radio so that mistype would be closer to ‘lady’
I'm pretty sure autocorrect wasn't a thing at that time
@@hennerz93 Yeah, no shit. But still. HOW?!
@@photocam913 it happened through predictive texting which was definitely a thing
Another reason I've heard that Damon and Jamie chose "Gorillaz" is because the collective name for a group of Gorillas is "a band." So it's quite literally a band of Gorillas.
For what it's worth, WWE makes people choose a stage name so they can own the rights to everything they do within the company and all the merch etc.
I would love a whole series of these.
Not hating but the title literally says pt1 as to say it's a series
@@everettbadgerow8041not hating but if you watched the video he said he might continue this into a longer series if people liked it
@@sonickhable not hating but both of yall need to shut the hell up
Lol these people deciding to give a 'no hate' disclaimer for a completely non hating observation anyway is so funny 😂

yeah ur right
There is a similar story regarding R&B singer Billy Ocean (of "Caribbean Queen" fame), who thought of the original Ocean's 11 movie when choosing his stage name
George Clooney’s character in Ocean’s 11 was originally played by Frank Sinatra
Ya mean Danny Ocean lol?
Todd In The Shadows said this, but you can also rearrange the letters in “Imagine Dragons” to get “Gonad Migraines”.
W pfp
To address half the comments: Yes, that’s why he said “Frank Sinatra and George Clooney’s character” because they both played the same character lol.
Breezy Lovejoy was such a great name for Anderson .Paak, i learned about him while he was the touring drummer for Dumbfoundead

I was anticipating (probably in outro) for Alfo to to come back to the explanation but it never happened heh

6:51 you are missing the entire part where people on forums started calling him the dead mouse guy
Foo Fighters came from WW2, not WW1
Are you telling me Elton Johns name is based on Long John Baldry, the guy who played Pingas Eggman
goo goo g'joob.
Loved this vid, super entertaining!!!! Top work
I love that this starts with Seth Rollins lmao
Jamie Hewlett wasn't a part of Blur, unless you just meant Damon Albarn

the worst stage name/band name ever is: Hoobastank
That and Limp Bizkit, which roughly translates to weak cookie.
if I meet Kendrick Lamar I kinda wanna refer to him as "duck worth"
A point on Halsey - at least here in Australia (not sure about everywhere else), Frangipane is pronounced "Franjipani"
The bieber one is funny caus my parents and almost everyone from former yugoslavia calls black pepper "biber" so its like justin black pepper lmao

I typed part of the Aphex Twin bit into Google and it literally is almost copied from Wikipedia verbatim

Daft Punky Thrash!
Never knew what the D. in Richard D. James was.
Think about the fact Seth Rollins other Nickname is Tyler Black, which still isnt related to either name
Dylan Thomas was Welsh not Irish
Grimes really said, that's some toilet cleaning name
Very cool
Hendrix a cool surname
“All we hear is 👏👏 Lady-O Gaga!”
Hate to be that guy, but at 9:40, only Damon was part of Blur.
lovvee
Bruno Mars's ego is indeed out of this world lmao
I thought Bowie came from a Welsh or Irish Captain
Also a group of Gorillas is a band
Oasis has always been rude to others for no reason.
They're even rude to eachother lmao

How do you guys feel about Jeff ossy
Yo…there isn’t any sources for this video…and the Aphex Twin bit is almost copied verbatim from Wikipedia…
What's on Bob Dylan's face?

Are you just gonna make Watchmojo videos now?
You should talk about Young Thug and how he got his name from his religious roots. Truly Humble Under God🙏
Do you think Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta know about the oratrice mecanique d'analyse cardinale?
A little bit too fast-paced for my taste
My name starts from K
Give me. A stage name
