I was going to start spring cleaning this weekend but I’m having a new kitchen fitted by my housing association next week. I have ocd and the thought of all that mess for a week is stressing me out. I enclose my cat beds in a cotton pillow case and launder weekly...and then launder the cat beds monthly. Keeps them fresh and clean. Cats seem to enjoy the cool cotton during warmer months. 😻

Hi Lynn! I rarely comment on youtube videos, mainly because I tend to have way too much to say and don't like to leave mile long comments. So I am going to try to keep this short (keyword "try"). I really just want to tell you how wonderful I think you are. So many times while watching one of your videos I will want to leave you comments because you really do make me feel like I am spending time with a friend every time I watch. Please never stop making these videos. You have no idea how much you inspire me and teach me about things I also struggle with and I love that you talk about these things. I am about to be 56 years old, I have raised 3 sons and 2 years ago I was blessed to finally become a Nana to the sweetest little man. My house has never been picture perfect EVER, and it probably never will be. This is the part where I could go on and on about struggles I have dealt with and some I still deal with, but instead I am just going to say YOU help me! Even with things I already know, you remind me when I get down on myself that it is okay and make me want to do better. And not just want to, but you give me that nudge I need some days and I KNOW that I CAN accomplish things I set out to do. While also giving me the ability to allow myself grace if it isn't perfect or if I am having a bad day that is okay too. I really just want you to know how much I appreciate you and I am so happy I found your channel a few months ago. Your family is blessed to have you, as you are to have them. I too am blessed with a loving husband and great kids, just not so much blessed in the "how to keep a clean house" department. I am forever working on that last part. I always tell myself when my time comes and I am gone will it matter if I had the cleanest picture perfect home? No. What does matter is that even in the middle of all the chaos my home was always filled with love. Okay last thing, when you said squirrel towards the end of this video I laughed out loud because that is my word, I bounce all over and get off track and I just say SQUIRREL and my family knows. I also live in FL and my back yard is full of squirrels so if anyone doesn't understand, I can just say oh a squirrel ran across the yard. 🐿😝
You are on of the most down to earth person I watch on YT! You are so right about not waiting for the perfect time to get your home the way you want it! For those who have been married or on their own for a few decades, and for those of you who may just be starting out or in less than a decade into your own home- your home is not going to have all the things instantly- it takes time and patience to get “all the stuff” your parents or grandparents have without going into debt! We have all been there or are there right now. Take your time, make small purchases at a time to get the look you want, thrifting is a perfect way for those just starting out because your tastes are going to evolve. I am 41 years into my marriage and my style and tastes have changed over those decades, though French blue and navy blue have been my foundation colors from the beginning- I have gone traditional to modern to transitional to boho plus and back but blue has been the foundation in all those changes. My big thing when purchasing furniture or dishware is to stick to timeless pieces that will go with any style or trend- reupholstering big furniture pieces is cheaper than replacing everything because and go with classic white dishware and natural linen curtains because they both will transition to any style or trend. Then there’s all the decluttering because of all the discarded trendy decor or kitchen gadgets that were a “must have” due to influencers. Make your home a reflection of YOU and your family and not what the next trend is, be at peace with where you are at in the imperfect home you are in and allow yourself grace because your home decor is not what IG or YT says it should be.

I washed my o cedar mop head, then with a fresh mop head and just scrubbed down cabinets, doors, trim, walls...and mopped floors last. Little bit of bleach, fabuloso and Dawn with hot water. Pristine!

I have to declutter when my husband is not around! He’s such a packrat but if I get rid of stuff a little at a time when he doesn’t see he doesn’t notice. He forgets about stuff anyway. He’s just like a kid!
