What a fabulous day out filled with fun and laughter. So many beautiful and suave costumes, they were all incredible. It would have been a great surprise to the two casual walkers at the end of the video, perhaps they thought they had passed through a time warp and gone back in time. Xx❤️🌺
Thank you very much Lenore ❤️ What was funny was that there were a lot of dog walkers about and it was the dogs that looked especially startled by us! I don’t think dogs see that well so it must have been our silhouettes that they found so surprising! There were a lot of talented sewists and stylists on the costumed walk, and everyone so friendly too 🍂💗🍂xx
Wow 😃 this is EPIC, Samantha!! What an undertaking, every detail shared on these incredible costumes 💫🖤💫 Well done indeed, really really interesting and Oh so generous of the wearers/makers/creators to take the time to discuss not only thier outfits du jour, but thier daily wear too. I LOVED this 🖤 and I love enthsiasts, no matter what thier hobby, craft, lifestyle or obsession is! Thank you x 🌚 🐈⬛ 🌚
Rowan you do find the best emojis 😆 This video was a bit of an epic to make to be honest! But I was so impressed and amazed by all the thought and creativity that went into making these fabulous costumes. And those people that live their everyday lives in Victorian clothes (there was a bit of adjusting of corsets that were starting to get a bit uncomfortable by the end of the day!!) I so agree with you about enthusiasts - I also love people with passions/obsessions! Thank you for your encouragement, I might go on to tackle filming and editing a Victorian costumed Christmas, which is coming up! ❤️😘x
@ A friend on the walk pointed out her flat in King’s Cross - part of a beautiful gothic Victorian building, all tall windows and turrets! A real artist’s residence in the heart of London (ie, not cheap 😆)! xx
Thank you very much for watching and supporting - many hours would have gone into the creation of these costumes and it’s lovely that people have an audience for them 💗💗
Another wonderful video Samantha. All the various costumes were stunning. I was really into historical fashion for a while before I became interested in vintage. I really need to get back into sewing, although I can only hope to look half as good in my ensembles as the fabulous and creative people in this wonderful video, and I include you in that. I'm also really looking forward to the videos about more practical vintage. The only place I really go to is for walks with my dog, or else I'm doing stuff in the house so I really need some more practical stuff to wear. Yes so I'm really waiting for that one! Hope you are ok !
It sounds like we have the same lifestyle Jody! I’m thinking we need to bring back the wrap around house coats or overalls from the 1930s/40s and 50s in easily laundered cotton or brushed cotton, then have warm dog walking clothes that cover but don’t have hems trailing in the mud! I’m glad it’s not just me seeing the need for such garments! Thank you too for appreciating everyone’s costumes. People looked so splendid on the day it was hard to take it all in. Finding out how they’d created their costumes and the inspiration behind them made them all more individual for me. Thanks so much for all your support ❤️
@@Samanthalovestosew yes, I really need some housecoats for at home. I'm fed up of wearing old t-shirts all the time! I desperately need some more vintage inspired house clothes. Also really need warm vintage inspired dog walking clothes for that matter!
Everyone is absolutely gorgeous! I wish I could join in on this walk. It looks like the most fun (and I have a soft spot for Victorian mourning clothes myself)
It would’ve been wonderful to meet you if you could have joined us! Yes, there’s something rather fascinating and mysterious about Victorian mourning clothes. Thank you very much for watching again! ❤️
@ it would’ve been wonderful to meet you as well! I might consider seeing if I can next year haha. Thank you for posting. You always have lovely posts ✨✨
I’m so pleased you enjoyed it and thank you for the feedback, which is always really helpful. There’s an event coming soon featuring late Victorian Christmas costumes so I shall attempt some more film making! 💗
Oh I’m so pleased that you loved it! While it was a lot to put together I’m so glad I did because I enjoyed knowing more about people’s costumes and their inspiration for them too! Thank you so much for watching and encouraging 💗🌸xxxxx
Hi Laura! It was a wonderful day (though it took me another day to recover, it turns out that going out and enjoying oneself is exhausting!!) The outfits were wonderful to see. Thank you so much for watching 💗
I’m so pleased to know you enjoyed the video and seeing everyone’s creativity. Many hours went into the making of these costumes so it’s wonderful that they get an audience! Thank you!
What a beautiful video Samantha! So many fabulous people, dressed in unique and very inspiring outfits! And the event was a great opportunity for showcasing them... You did a fantastic job with the video and it shows how much work you must have put in it! ❤❤❤
Thank you very much Arietta ❤️ It’s true, I met some very talented people and saw so many amazing costumes. It’s wonderful that there are people who keep alive vintage and historical sewing skills and patterns, and the beautiful fashions of the past ❤️🥰🥰
Thank you for an interesting video Samantha and to everyone for sharing their creative outfits, some hand made, some thrifted, some collected, some reinterpreted, all inspiring and wonderful to see.
I didn’t realise till I asked people about their costumes how much variety of inspiration, sewing and styling there would be. I’m really pleased you enjoyed the video and thank you very much for watching! 💗
I can tell you put so much work and effort into creating this reel Samantha. You probably didn't like the editing part. Surely you took a notebook and pen with you on the day of the event? So glad the weather was good enough too. I think the late 30's into 40's dresses is how I see you and I just see that as how you dress rather than see it as a fashion period. I suppose I am trying to say is that it is all very natural to you. Take care.
Ah you know me so well Ian! The editing took days and there were moments of overwhelm (even thoughts of giving up 😆) but I’m so pleased I didn’t as the glorious costumes everyone created needed to be seen! Back when I was a student late 30s dresses sold in secondhand stores for less than the new dresses I couldn’t afford, and I loved them more and they fitted me better anyway. I still have them, they’re my old friends! Thank you for watching (and understanding me!) 🥰
Oh Samantha, this is as much fun to watch as attending the day itself, and bought it all back! I really enjoyed hearing details about everyone’s outfits as on the day itself time flies so fast and I miss so much. You must have poured many hours into this, following everyone up after the event and tracking us all down. Love listening to you and the way you present. Thank you so much for including me, I’m truly honoured 💋♥️🥂
Thank you for shepherding me to and fro and helping me with everyone’s names! Your deep red dress really stands out. I especially love the bit at the end of the video when you bow to that surprised looking couple! While the editing was a bit of a marathon it really added something for me too to know the details of everybody’s costumes - so much thought, imagination and skill went into their creation. Definitely a day to remember! ❤️🥰😘
