    I dig it bruh. I'd love to see a more specific one that explains some of these terms and methods in more depth for people who don't have a lot of experience with color grading.

    You crush the highlights, particularly in the last example. In Hollywood, colorists always go below 800 IRE for the highlights. Even if the scene might be overexposed, they will still bring it down to 800 or below, to make the white look like grey. That's one of the hallmarks of film, that doesn't have true white or true black. Additionally, you didn't work on texture. Digital cameras have a very "positive film" look to them. To emulate negative film, you have to also work on texture, and I don't mean adding grain when I say that. I mean microcontrast and acutance instead. In Hollywood, colorists use Baselight which has special tools about that. Resolve doesn't. You can emulate some of that with the soften and sharpen plugin on Resolve &, sharpen edges plugin, but it doesn't go to the same detail as Baselight does.
