This looks more like a jacked up mini MPV than a SUV, it reminds me of the Renault Scenic RX4 from the early 2000s.

If the aircon switch box is the same as the one in the A and B class it doesn't move at all unless you really move it with force, there is zero wobble when pressing switches or even pushing it with one hand.

Mat should always do an acceleration test even with the non-sport versions. Preferably from 0 to *62 mph*

My mum has a GLA 45 AMG and it is a really sweet little car. Plenty of power to race most cars around the street and beat. Good handling and nice to drive

Excellent review Matt! Mercedes has definitely stepped up their game on the interior quality of the A class in general, but not to the extent where it encroaches on the E or C class of vehicles.
I do however wish they kept the option of having non digital gauges. That notwithstanding, I think it would make a fine car for the lady 👌
Better this one or the cla? With the cla I’m a bit concerned about the overall cabin space, especially in the front. Is this any better?

@@lunafringe10 I'm from South Africa and an almost fully Speced XC40 Inscription costs R850k which is $49K and 38K GBP.
I think it looks great, I have a 2019 A250 and one of my few complaints about it is the very low ground clearance, this GLA is obviously much better in that sense 👍
I agree. Had a hire for about 4 months and the ground clearance was really low compared to the golf I had at the time, but the drive was nice and so was the gearbox.
Same issue here. Plus I live in south africa, the road is very bad. But I'll learned to live with it. Nice car overall.
Style looks so much softer than the last generation. I wish that interior was in the previous body!

Throughout the entire review I kept thinking about how the vehicle could be better -- larger sportier wheels, 40/60 AWD, more power, much smaller or barely visible bezels on the displays (what is it with Merc's and their massive bezels!?)
Indeed, looks like a cheap tablet. This interior design is not going to age well
0:05 actually it is not essentially a A class (W177) but a lifted B class (W247) as the new GLA is internally referred to as H247. It also shares the passengers dashboard of the B class but not the A class.
I have a 2017 GLA45 and think they got it right last time. The new pricing is crazy.
The gear selector placement is good but some people really do prefer to change gears with their other hand in a more forward position.
I'm seriously hoping for a B class review Carwow. Please do that one.

The review missed out on the various suspension modes - comfort, sport etc. I don't bother with changing them (comfort is fine) but they are there.
The "sport" model in the Uk, is called "Progressive" in the rest of the wrold. ALL the new fwd Merc's are super simple to work out, they all start in "Style" design line, and "Advantage" equipment line (Depending on the country), then you upgrade from style -> Progressive -> Amg-Line for looks and design, and as for equipment, you start from with the Advantage pack, and upgrade from Advantage package -> Premium Package -> Premium + Package :)

That’s simple. X1 is the best car but Q3 is the best all rounder. GLA is not even a competitor
Although I really like the latest Mercedes SUVs, in the small SUV category I think BMW X1 and Volvo XC40 are way better.

My dad and I picked up our first ever luxury car, the 2020 x1 :') never been so happy. This is in India and the taxes here are insanee. I cant believe that GLA is only 43 grand. Itll be atleast 53 grand here in India after conversion.
@Neel Javia I spoke to Mercedes India before buying the X1, they told me the on road cost will be 53 lakh.

18:10 What does "electrically folding door mirrors" actually mean? My first guess would be that there is a switch or button in the car that makes them fold next to the car, but i can't imagine that basic function being an optional extra in a new Mercedes-Benz. Can anybody explain what this function is?

Excellent review! I'm a recent Mercedes-Benz convert having driven Ford's for years, we bought a 61 plate SLK 200 as a treat and I was instantly struck by the build and ride quality, my Mrs is disabled and needs a high up SUV, we have a CH-R at the moment but the hybrid technology worries us as it's so complicated. We like the look of the GLA and thanks to your review I think we'll go for one!! 👍🏻
We recently got a GLA after looking at all the small SUV's. It's really comfortable for long drives and is extremely agile in town. A very nice car so far.
