Brilliant build! I would like to add just one tip... Brass oxidises. especially when touched with bare hands as the oils in our hands speed up that process leaving the brass tarnished and discoloured. So, to save you the heartache of having to continually polish this, which could lead to potential damage, I suggest clear coating all of the brass once its been cleaned and ready to receive the parts. the Laquerre or Clear coat will create a very hard protective coating on the brass keeping it looking shiny for years if looked after. Then it'll only ever need a simple dust off now and then.

5:45 a significant improvement for stability and to prevent damaging the device and/or surfaces and possible injury, the legs should be joined by another length of brass soldered between the two legs.
I’d probably opt for a hanging cradle in the back with some wiggle room to tilt if I needed to. Something 3D printed in a black plastic would be a nice edition ;)
if you want to avoid displacing brass you have already soldered together you should try putting wet napkins on the joints you don't want to melt, it works surprisingly well.
best tutorial I've seen so far. You covered every possibility I was hoping for. The built in battery that you plug into with usb is THE best touch in the build. Its a perfect solution to get rid of the power cable yet its sleek and no extra finagling, just taking advantage of the built in features.
But how do I know what battery to look for for a basic LCD panel , for a build like this, the Controller board I got, says it requires 12v 3A, that is big for a "slim" LI-o battery.
He's getting more powerful. Now he's tried his hand into metallurgy! I swear, in a few years, he's gonna make a DIY Ironman suit series with a DIY fusion arc reactor episode.

@Shubhkarman Sandhu him: before we made the dyson sphere, we always need the structure, so what I'm gonna do is that I will use the 5D printer to print the structure of the dyson sphere
Matt in another 2 years time: "I made this out of my new favourite material... Titanium... Which can easily be welded in a vacuum so remember to wear your oxygen mask if you try this at home."
Titanium, Niobium and Zirconium are metals that can be easily anodized in vivid yellow, green, or blue (or a rainbow style). And this is not an acrylic paint. So, why not?
OR much easier, an enclosed welding booth purged with argon. You can easily convert a sandblast cabinet into one. Seal it up and put argon in it. It just needs more pressure than the outside of the cabinet. Argon is heavier than air so the cabinet really doesn't even need a top!!! (I cast titanium golf club heads for 15 years and built the welding cabinets AND vacuum induction machines).
Brass is a very nice material, as copper as well. The problem is that they oxidize pretty fast and get dull. If you want to keep it shiny than you should apply a transparent metal varnish. Good job, looks amazing.
U should've just used a usb c charging circuit. That cable wouldn't be sticking out, it handles all the protection for the battery and u can use powerbanks with them as well.
These micro sized controllers coupled with modern 4k touchscreen capable monitors is kind of mind blowing. You can now build your own Tesla dash board if you’re willing to spend the cash. I’ve seen iPads hacked into the dash, but choosing the resolution size etc here is actually huge for custom car work. One day I’ll have the cash to switch my engine to ev, but until then, this will keep me busy.
Matt you are amazing at making cool stuff from old things. You save a lot of money and get to make exactly what you need and want. You have an amazing body build. I love your flat stomach. Thank you for putting together great projects and videos.
First thing I thought was this needed some Art Deco styling, not quite steam punk but that’s another design aesthetic brass opens you up to that I’d go for personally
@@obsgr1 Which. Send please!! I am into that aesthetic as well. My house is ancient and mostly wooden so brass and wood fit the aesthetic pretty well, but I'm into *punk too.
7:06 Lithium batteries normally have protection circuitry packaged with the battery. If you unwrap the black plastic/tape cover, there should be a protection circuit under there.
If you buy those batteries fron a electronic distributor, no protection circuit is build in. This is "normally". :-) And btw: Those circuits are normaly bundled with the charging electronics. Without a charging electronic the batteries doesn't make any sense.
When you were putting in the pilot holes for the legs i blew on my phone screen to blow the brass shavings away. I get REALLY into your videos. Thank you so much. 😊😊😊♥️♥️♥️
slick build. honestly not hard either. love it! Going to make my own "smart nav/entertaininment" for an RV and this display will be a key part of it. Show camera feeds, navigation, system info etc running off of....well probably a Raspberry Pi but I haven't gotten that far into the design.
The best UA-cam channel ever! The only thing that's still needed for this touch-screen is a logo of your own. I think you should think of a logo and a brand name to put on your builds!
This is almost weird. So, straightforward but so amazing too. Make no mistake a usb-c monitor isn't a cheap thing. It certainly isn't this elegant too.
I've been wanting to make a fold out touchscreen for the for the kitchen to make following online recipes easier. This idea would work perfectly, it's slim and doesn't require me to build and set up a small computer dedicated to the kitchen. I can just pull my phone out, plug it in and flip the monitor down (probably hinged to the bottom of a floating shelf with stiff hinges) and be ready to go.
Another great DIY project that I'll never really do, but watch you doing it several times. Please consider working as a professional narrator. Can make millions on the side.
funny I am such and that dosnt give me any shivers... but it does remind me i hate this crap weather which is NOT range worthy and gives me shivers from the damn cold brrrrr
This and some hinges, for a top half. Combining it with the base parameters design of his watercooled ps5. Only instead, adding a thin heat sink layer with a louvered bezel to the bottom (by having the ps5 build essentially upside down,) to maintain fan+passive air and thermal control. Does add a slight thickness to the original slim concept, but with such wide area for thermal management using the whole base as essentially a passive heatsink, paired with the slotted bezel for dispersement of heat (aiming for rear exhaust channels) as well as intake of fresh air on all sides, I believe the added chamber could stay rather slim while simultaneously meeting or beating the watercooled specs without sacrificing a fan system. Allows him to stick to the external power brick, grab a laptop bag and a ps5 controller, and he’s off to the races. Potentially even adding a chance at a laptop battery-esque combo, for truly portable/wireless play. (Even if the standalone battery life would most certainly be dismal 🤣) All while negating the need of the waterlines+gigantic wall piece, which killed the first ps5 board. Absolutely not bashing, I’m in love with your work and your channel, and would just love to see the first laptop style, ps5 “move,” be amongst your accolades in the DIY creator space. I can’t thank you enough, for all the inspiration you give me in own home projects. Please keep reinventing the way tech and sleek design, combine. 🖤

It also looks quite smart!
hahahahahaha
OR much easier, an enclosed welding booth purged with argon. You can easily convert a sandblast cabinet into one. Seal it up and put argon in it. It just needs more pressure than the outside of the cabinet. Argon is heavier than air so the cabinet really doesn't even need a top!!! (I cast titanium golf club heads for 15 years and built the welding cabinets AND vacuum induction machines).

What was the purpose of ending it in "-"? You weren't cut off or anything like that

Brass is a very nice material, as copper as well. The problem is that they oxidize pretty fast and get dull. If you want to keep it shiny than you should apply a transparent metal varnish. Good job, looks amazing.
I really like how each build is unique, feasible and genuinely useful. Will attempt to make a rose gold version of this.
Who else wasn't expecting this from the title??
Too Good man
His techniques are on a whole another level..
The Best thing is despite being pretty successful and most likely capable of buying expensive equipment, he doesn't. Makes it accessible to everyone.
8:00 anyone getting Clickspring vibes here? The song, the brass, the friendly, enthusiastic voice - it all fits so well 😄
High Quality, advanced tech "steampunk"! Very impressive.
U should've just used a usb c charging circuit. That cable wouldn't be sticking out, it handles all the protection for the battery and u can use powerbanks with them as well.
Damn this built results in a better product than many mass-market monitors/screens!
Loving these “smart” looking builds
These micro sized controllers coupled with modern 4k touchscreen capable monitors is kind of mind blowing.
You can now build your own Tesla dash board if you’re willing to spend the cash. I’ve seen iPads hacked into the dash, but choosing the resolution size etc here is actually huge for custom car work.
One day I’ll have the cash to switch my engine to ev, but until then, this will keep me busy.
Come on MATT !
We all understood that this video is all for showing off your PS5 !!
I am still in the waitlist tho. 😅
There's lots of stock in Russia, but not much in my wallet
Will never make any of these projects, but love watching the creativity.
I love that DIY to him doesn't mean "looks like garbage, but still works"
Matt you are amazing at making cool stuff from old things. You save a lot of money and get to make exactly what you need and want. You have an amazing body build. I love your flat stomach. Thank you for putting together great projects and videos.
I’ve made like 4 or 5 of your things, and I’ve loved all of them
You should make videos too
With this newfound brass obsession, I wonder how long will it take for that to convert into steam punk aesthetic obsession
Yep!
My first thought was "Now do a Steampunk version!"
He's done steampunk before. So that'll be awesome to see again.
First thing I thought was this needed some Art Deco styling, not quite steam punk but that’s another design aesthetic brass opens you up to that I’d go for personally
@@markhaus
Good point!
@@obsgr1 Which. Send please!! I am into that aesthetic as well. My house is ancient and mostly wooden so brass and wood fit the aesthetic pretty well, but I'm into *punk too.
If you do this every day, I'll watch every day without getting bored
each video i watch blows me more and more away. Never stop making these amazing videos
Wait, seriously? Me too
hahahahahaha :)
The worst thing about your channel is how long I have to wait between videos! Seriously love your content and can't wait for the next one.
Cheers!
slick build. honestly not hard either.
What do you mean not this elegant?
@@ToughLuckWorld It has a simple but stylish look. I find it unique especially considered to the monitors in the market.
Need to do another video explaining where I can find the time to construct this awesome bit of kit
We are moving to Brass Age people.
So long, aluminum age.
Im sorry, before this is MDF Age.
This is amazing! Just when I was looking for some extra screen for my home work!!! Thank you very much 😁!!!
It’s a little more work, but a u-channel across the feet of the stands would add stability and remove jankiness.
Perhaps rubber feet to avoid scratching the table?
Yep rubber feet angled shape that just pushed on .
This man is the master of perfection 🫡
Makes one recall Genie in the Aladdin movie: "everywhere, brass!"

Another great DIY project that I'll never really do, but watch you doing it several times. Please consider working as a professional narrator. Can make millions on the side.
I can imagine a long soundbar with 4 speakers directly in-front of the screen rather than just two. Man that’d sound fantastic and look awesome.
Why not connecting to giant bookshelf speakers?
This video helped with my idea of taking a laptop motherboard and turning it into a tablet. Wish there were videos on this to help me out
“I have a broken marriage...” - well U channels are perfect for that!
maybe not U-channels, but some pipe could help

(Even if the standalone battery life would most certainly be dismal 🤣)
All while negating the need of the waterlines+gigantic wall piece, which killed the first ps5 board.
Absolutely not bashing, I’m in love with your work and your channel, and would just love to see the first laptop style, ps5 “move,” be amongst your accolades in the DIY creator space.
I can’t thank you enough, for all the inspiration you give me in own home projects.
