As a Wild Kratts fandom veteran (yes there’s a whole fandom), while this wasn’t one of my all time favorite episodes, it was iconic in the fandom! This is the episode where we say that everything kept escalating (if ya know, you know). Also, thank you for the WK Reviews!! These are the first of their kind for this fandom, and we appreciate the content. I personally give the favorite episode title to “Octopus WildKratticus” or “Roadrunner.”
_Whale of A Squid_ is in my top 10 favorite episodes forsure. It is also the episode that all but started the trend of _Chris and Martin nearly _*_d i e._*_ 😌_ Seriously, there's an entire Tumblr thread cataloging it, it's great. 😂.
As a kid, the live action segment were always my favorite, I always liked the fact that Chris and Martin were real people, and the characters in the show are just based on them, their also just a certain charm to the bros just having fun goofing off with animals in the live action scenes.
Oh I remember those I remember they did a battle royal of dinosaurs and I think they relied on the movies since they made the Spinosaurus win against the T Rex
Well, whales are not really agressive, and it's unlikely to eat a human. Some can't chew it, and the ones that eating giant squids has no interest to eat something so small.
Yeah, even though most whales can’t eat you, it doesn’t mean they aren’t deadly. The frequency from a sperm whales call can literally kill a person from rupturing their organs.
My favorite episode was the two-parter "Back in Creature Time" with that trampoline time machine thing which made the gang travel back to see dodos and thylacines. As a kid, I always wished they would use the time trampoline again so they could travel back to the Mesozoic. I just wanted to see the Kratt brothers cover dinosaurs, man. Imagine how cool the creature power suits would look if they did that.
I know I really wish we could have gotten more episodes of them using the time trampoline and to this day I still think it would be super cool that we could see them get dinosaur creature powers
I’m watching that episode if it does come out I don’t think they want to do it right now since a lot of dinosaurs get outdated quickly quickly but once they run out of creature adventure ideas, they probably will cover dinosaurs
0:16 I remember those book and with recent discovery and stuff the Rex v Raptor is so inaccurate as well as the Rex v Spino (watch Goji Center video) and Giga v Ankylosaurus but the art is cool
I always loved squids and octopuses as a kid. Even though the squid lost I still LOVED this episode (this one and the octopus creature power suit episode)
Well unfortunately nowadays the battle is more one sided because more scientific research has shown that the sperm whale easily defeats the giant squid and colossal squid because the sperm whale have been speculated to just simply suck down the squids basically like spaghetti and sure the squids can try to hook on with their sharp suction cups and leaving cuts on the whale but the squids usually loses just down to the sperm whale being their main predator so the only way the squids could win is by escaping with using their speed and ink because as soon as the sperm catches it, their gone
Man, this episode was one of my favorites of the show (at least of the seasons I watched). It’s crazy to think that was one of the first episodes they aired. Also, shoutout MBDTF!
Probably the best episode of wild kratt, tho I prefer the crocodgator episode a bit better but mostly from a nostalgic standpoint since it was the first one I saw as a kid.
Another Wild Kratts episode featuring an orca pod shows an orca calf being grabbed by a giant squid. And guess what happens? The rest of the pod takes turns tearing apart the squid's tentacles, and after all that's over, we're treated with a glimpse of the giant squid's fatally wounded body sinking to the depths of the ocean. Not only is it a surprisingly violent moment for a PBS kids show, but we all never fathom the thought that orcas hunt down giant/colossal squid. We thought it was only sperm whales who hunt those tentacled beasts of the depths. Orcas can plausibly hunt them, but they're less equipped against the extreme pressure of the ocean depths.
While this episode with the "epic battle" was cool, I didn't like how the giant squid was made out to be the villain. I liked "Seasquatch" better because the giant squid was minding its own business before Bumper's mom showed up and chased it away.
There is one thing I didn’t like about this episode. The sizes of the animals are kinda over dramatic. The Colossal Squid isn’t actually that large, it is larger than a person but I highly doubt it’s bigger than a sperm whale. But honestly who really cares? It entertained 8 year old me seeing sea animals fight, top tier action 10/10.
I love rewatching any episode because of how luch i love wild kratts honestly wish they had evil versions if themselves kinda like albedo from ben 10 evil twins would be sick like HELLO WERE THE WILD BRATTS BETTER THAN YOU
Truthfully, Sperm Whales do not consider humans edible. Indeed, most of our encounters with them are friendly since we stopped killing them! There's quite a famous UA-cam video of a marine biology diving expedition that had a huge surprise visitor in the form of a Sperm Whale - at depth: ua-cam.com/video/SkBpummjR5I/v-deo.htmlsi=oRxoNj8Uy0AqEBzZ . A real life version of the Wild Kratts episode. Watching the whale and the "aliens" in his environment interact was something truly unique. When they approach human divers, they are very gentle and careful. They are curious about us, not bloodthirsty, and they are one of the smartest creatures on the planet. I'm absolutely on team Whale. Squid are pretty nasty predators and the big ones are quite capable of eating you. Sperm Whales may well be a people of their own... we just haven't learned how to talk to them yet. Their only real enemy is *another* extremely smart marine cetacean - the orca. Orcas have little chance against adult Sperm Whales, but they can and do kill calves.
irl, it's not actually a fight nor is it close. Sperm whales are perfectly designed to hunt giant squid and a large portion of their diet is just giant squid.
Well, I personally am on the side of the giant squid. Also, damn... Air, you know Aviva is the independent woman type, don't you? You can't tell her to not answer phone calls from other men... Especially because my phone is always on them three~
ti used to watch this show , then i ditched it for ben 10 , which i then ditched for pokemon ( and recently came back too ben 10 ) this is just educational animal science version of ben 10

how does one get deeper into the actual fandom rather than just watching the how? (asking for a friend)
İs the octopus one where an octo gets the brother's jackets and transformed to a mega hybrid abomination?
Agree, the road runner episode was hilarious 😂.
As a kid, the live action segment were always my favorite, I always liked the fact that Chris and Martin were real people, and the characters in the show are just based on them, their also just a certain charm to the bros just having fun goofing off with animals in the live action scenes.
I used to always get those "who would win" books at the library. Me and my friends would always try to predict the outcome.
You'd find those at the scholastic book fairs too
Oh I remember those I remember they did a battle royal of dinosaurs and I think they relied on the movies since they made the Spinosaurus win against the T Rex
No way I commented this a year ago
When Wild Kratts started, this was the very first episode that aired in my area.
Mine too!
Same
Facts. The Nile Crocodile and platypus episodes were goated too.

@@Just_Aero104whale sharks can’t swallow humans, neither can humpbacks, nor can cachalot whales
Yeah at most they might get a little too curious
@@Just_Aero104Yeah I know with baleen whales their throats are ridiculously tiny, like about the size of a fist, so no real risk there
That was my favourite episode as well😭😭😭

Yea giant squids are quite literally on the menu for sperm whales

An octopus found their power suits and then got transformed into various hybrids, adding walrus, shark, and even whale dna to its body

Hearing Overture from Whiplash was surprising
I kept getting mad at this episode kept getting deleted when i was a kid cuz it was also my favorite episode and i kept losing the episode
