    2:10 NO! Do not stop in the outside lane of a 50mph road if your car is driveable. Move to a place of safety to do full damage checks, exchange details etc. If vehicles are not driveable, get all people out and to a place of safety whilst calling for police assistance.

      @@97antiv Incorrect, it's a 3-lane A-road. You can even see the "50 MPH" signs. The same applies, though, whether it's a road like this or it's a motorway. As Steve said, if your vehicle is driveable you should move it over to the left as soon and as safely as possible. You absolutely should NOT just stop in the third lane and get out, it's a stupid and dangerous thing to do.

      If you are on a 'smart motorway' the outside lane is very likely to be safer than lane 1, as lane 1 has fully loaded HGVs doing maximum speed, whereas the outside lane only has cars in it which are lighter, easier to stop and do less damage if they hit you.
      This is why smart motorways need to be shut down, they are incredibly dangerous.

      Considering the attitude to motorbike riders (in particular, but to other road users in general too) I'm not surprised, most people are thinking "good, he deserves it!"
      Can see why he made the move he did though, he must've assumed that he would be shielded by the other car that moved, but timed it wrong
      On the positive side though, I've slipped off my bike twice (in the wet! Still a noob) without damaging or injuring anyone else, and loads of people came to ask me if I was alright and helped me! Makes me think that people really are caring after all, hopefully I practice the same if someone needs help too...

    1:39. The Highway Code isn’t as clear cut as that. Whilst it says get into the right lane on the roundabout (it seems to assume 2 lanes; whereas multiple lanes it seems to imply they all have good clear direction which is rubbish), and it then says to only choose the outer left lane after the penultimate exit … there is nothing to say you cannot stay on the roundabout. It makes it still seem as if traffic on a roundabout is in an infinite circle until it exits. It actually emphasises users to look out for people going around, and poor signals etc.
    As always the Highway Code, beyond the MUST etc, usually also gives advice which asks you to look out for others mistakes. It doesn’t mean you’re wrong if you fail to do so, but it does ask you to - and it could be argued you’re driving without attention. And often the HWC usually gives rules that compliment each other - a rule for one car and a different rule for the other car - that basically ask both users to look out for the other and to avoid collisions. Therefore - never assume everything is going to plan. You’ve got to allow for mistakes of others.
    What’s annoying these days is that most folk seem to drive without a care, making mistakes daily, in turn becoming habit. Then those habits become a society accepted norm. Take the 2 second rule for example; or lane discipline.

    At 3:52 I can see why the car flashed his lights, at his speed he had to hit his brakes hard,
    the lorry driver isn`t judging the speed of the car correctly otherwise he wouldn`t have pulled out.
    I`ve had that happen to me 100s of times (not just by lorries) as I travel within the speed limit.
    We`ve all had those 1 flash pull out road users.

      @adamfekete9230 2 роки тому +4

      Totally agree with this. It's happened to me loads as well. Just because someone is indicating doesn't mean they have the right to change lane. Indicate, wait for all passing traffic, and then make your manoeuvre in such a way that no other road use has to alter their speed because of you.

    • @mangohines9276
      @mangohines9276 Рік тому +2

      I have to agree, the comment that the B&Q driver did the right thing is completely wrong and car drivers can be just as bad. The driver knowing that they would be over taking the lorry in front should have checked their mirror and blind spot to see what is in the outside lane. Two seconds later they should have looked again to see how much closer the car was to them. That will give any driver a good idea of how fast the vehicle is getting close to you and whether if it would be safe to overtake.
      The driver was moving towards the outside lane as soon as their indicator had flashed once.
      TIP: When you are driving in the outside lane, keep an eye on vehicles in the inside lane as you approach them. If the distance between them and the vehicle in front of them gets to less the three car lengths, they will overtake that vehicle.

    1.39 You imply that the red car, which stayed in the left hand lane, was the one to blame, but, it was the blue car which crossed over a lane. As you say "It's then their job (a car in the right hand lane) to make sure they aren't cutting anyone up", but that's exactly what the blue car did. Also, it is common practise for slower vehicles to run round on the left lane as they then don't cause difficulties trying to get back out.

The number of times I see brake lights, turn steering wheel, put on indicators! 3) PLEASE, if you're going to pull out to pass a parked vehicle or cyclist, especially on urban roads, INDICATE, the following vehicle can't necessarily see why you're pulling out. and finally 4) Always indicate correctly even when you don't think there's anyone to see your indicator, it's as much for pedestrians as other road traffic. If you indicate and no one sees it, no harm done, if you don't indicate when you should, well work it out for your self! We all share the road system and should respect each others right and safety to be on it.

      There's no such thing as a "fast lane"... The road is 50mph, that limit applies to all lanes, so if you're doing 50 in the left lane on a 50 limit road, you shouldn't have to expect someone zooming past you at a considerably higher speed like that in the overtake lane. Astra van driver was going waaay too fast.
      But that also does not excuse the other car for moving over without checking that it was safe to do so.

    • @PointNemo9

      @@killakanzgaming It's difficult to tell exactly, but to me it looks as if the cammer (and car ahead) was going quite a bit under 50.
      But anyway I disagree, even if you are doing 80 you should still have to check for faster moving more traffic before changing lanes. Speed limits should not mean you have any right to abandon basic motorway principles.
      Also I did not use the term "fast lane", I used the correct term of passing lane.

If you were to pull out into a lane and cause someone to take evasive action - either braking or changing direction it's an instant major fault and a fail. This is shown in the highway code section 7.133 "If you need to change lane, first use your mirrors and if necessary take a quick sideways glance to make sure you will not force another road user to change course or speed. When it is safe to do so, signal to indicate your intentions to other road users and when clear, move over." That doesn't mean stick your indicators on and fuck everyone else because I'm moving. I see so many close calls on the motorway because of peoples incorrect assessment that their indicators mean they can do what they like

      I think that some of the reasons are
      People rarely actually think about there driving
      People with big engined cars often think that the engine is enough
      Most drivers don't look anywhere near far enough ahead, so planning ahead is impossible.
      Most UK traffic police recognise that motorcycle riders make significantly better car drivers, I think the reason for that is that motorcyclists tend to look much further ahead and, being more vulnerable, are much more attentive to dangers and road conditions.

    No 5 - NO , that is NOT a multi lane roundabout ; I am very familiar with stand its location at the top of the M9 , between Dunblane and Bridge of Allan, linking as it does to the A9 dual carriageway , as well as a minor road to Doune and the old A9 dual carriageway which goes through Dunblane . The roundabout was previously restricted to 30 or 40 mph , but the signage seems to have been removed ( bad move by whoever responsible ) .
    The small red car entered from Dunblane and was clearly trafficating right to continue round ; the fastard in the Golf , most likely came down the A9 from Perth and entered the roundabout far too fast , paying no attention to what was happening in front of him , it was unlikely he was on the roundabout when the Fiat entered so the rule about giving way does not apply ; however the rule about not overtaking through a junction most certainly does apply and the Gold driver entirely at fault for overtaking where unsafe , excess speed which goes to DWDCA and failing to concentrate on his driving .
    Where there is only one lane through a roundabout , even if multiple lanes enter and leave , as is the case here , then overtaking is done at your own peril .

    Agree with every point bar one. The collision at 6:30 is not the fault of both parties. When you overtake or manoeuvre between lanes it IS YOUR responsibility to check your mirrors and make sure it’s safe to do so. The car moving lanes was entirely at fault, yes the car in the outside lane was probably driving at the limit in the overtaking lane, at any speed over 40 mph the result would have been the same given the late timing and ignorance of the car moving lanes.
    I’m fed up with justifications like the one in the video. How do you know cars speeding in the outside lane aren’t undercover officers who are by the way permitted to travel at speeds in excess of limits and without blue lights? You’re saying I could just pull out on them because “oh he’s going too fast anyway”
    Drivers should be taught pro active defensive driving rather than reactive. If the manoeuvring car had bothered to check his mirrors the accident could have been avoided.
    The only thing the ‘speeding car’ was at fault for was overtaking while approaching a slip way which is bad driving but not illegal.

    • @Scoupe400
      @Scoupe400 2 роки тому +1

      Agree yet again the comment by the video poster is wrong.
      Although your last comment isn’t entirely accurate. You’re allowed to overtake. It’s advanced driving that recommends you align to a gap in traffic where you think others may swerve.
      Speeder - we don’t even know he’s speeding. It maybe a national limit. The other vehicles tell us nothing - often people drive too slow on dual carriageways not knowing the limit.
      But ultimately you’re right. This : I’m changing lanes because I’ve indicated is utterly wrong. And often caused by this stupid notion that you have to let merging traffic on, to join an empty lane - you only do this if the road behind/alongside is clear if you want - but ultimately you have priority and the joining traffic has to yield at the dotted line and only swap into the main lanes once clear.

      But look closely at the end of the clip and you'll see that the BMW driver DOES pull in behind the police car. It's a good bet that the Merc driver was the reckless one some distance/time before the cammer came along and then recorded what we see. Neither of the two drivers were in the right for acting the way they did, though.
