Chauvin died in 1908 - he lived long enough to see Heliotrope Bouquet published....... im a pianist and love ragtime and Scott Joplin - Heliotrope is my wife's favorite piece
I remember watching this collaborative scene of two talented musicians creating a masterpiece. It was a beautiful yet sad contrast of styles. One artist who took his music seriously while the other although more naturally talented never got to reach his full potential. The Heliotrope was a glimpse of what could have been had very gifted player not wasted his skills. Even Chauvin regretted it himself “Maybe I lived my life wrong. Should have learned to write stuff down like you.” Scott immortalized Chauvin by writing down what he couldn’t thereby perserving a brilliancy that might have been lost forever. Beautiful yet Sad! 😔
5:34 people give off the impression that pianos that sound like these give a 1900 vibe. but in any era of time they sound fitting, i need to get an acoustic that sounds like this

ua-cam.com/video/lid6vJ9uS1Q/v-deo.html - The masterpiece that is Heliotrope Bouquet (1907), my favorite Joplin composition though it is a joint-work with Chauvin you can certainly here Scott's touch certainly in second half of the piece.
Oh man this composition is also one of my favorites. Thank you for linking this version, I think the other ones are played a little too fast for my taste.
@@idkwhattocallmyselfsothiswilld No problem, Scott is one of my heroes, I love the guy. Always a pleasure to talk about his work with someone else who appreciates it.
