When I heard it is a CZ rifle, I knew it would not even be a challenge to make the hits. I own a CZ 550 in 9.3x62 Mauser from brand new that is as accurate as any High-end custom rifle. I actually have trusted my life to this CZ rifle when I am an Alaskan hunting guide.
Thanks for watching Lure! I bet you have some great stories from your days guiding in Alaska. My father in law has hunted up there many times but I have not had the opportunity yet.
The 527 is the best rifle ever! All mine in various calibers have either 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch consistently. Everything is stock, just add scope. I was really disappointed when they discontinued them.
Thanks for watching RayRay! It really is a shame they stopped producing them. I was hoping CZ would come out with something similar, but so far I haven't seen anything yet.
Five shots, two nicks, three solid hits. Good shooting. Thanks for sharing that CZ rifle. Nice! Funny story; I was working in Downtown Courts and we got a last minute preliminary hearing. A DV case involving an elderly Hispanic couple but the husband/defendant was out of custody, so of little security concern. The hearing got underway and I reached over and found an old back issue of SHOOTING TIMES on my shelf and I started to finally educate myself about the .22 Hornet cartridge on company time. BUT WAIT! Only a paragraph in the defendant is causing an outburst, in Spanish, and our court certified interpreter was trying to repeat the words in English, which is her job, but it made no sense. And the wife said something that she had been trying to tell the police that he was "crazy" but they didn't listen. I never did get to finish that article because I did have to get back to work. The judge laughed at me after the hearing about how casually I threw the magazine back on the shelf as I jumped up.
That's a great story! Those DV cases can get pretty hairy quick. Sounds like grandpa is going to get a competency hearing. Glad it didn't escalate. The hornet is a great round. One that has been a staple for farmers and ranchers all around Texas. Many old timers would hunt whitetails with them. Although I don't think that is kosher under current hunting regulations. I became interested in getting something I could shoot more accurately than a 22 magnum out to 150 yards without having to deal with the noise or recoil of a 223.
Thanks Bryant! In one on my first videos, I used this rifle to hit a quarter and nickle at 100 yards. Drilled through both. It's a great CZ rifle. Shame they discontinued it.
That sounds like a great combination! 16 gauge for birds and close varmints and the hornet for long distance shots. I need to google that. Would love to see what it looks like.
It's that I have heard of hunting experiences using a 222 and they are all positive. In new Zealand the guides ( roebucks hunters) use the 222 Remington. Check video outlook
I don’t have a 22 hornet rifle yet but me and my uncle got my little 22lr dialed in nice. At 100 yards my uncle can hit the thin side of a lighter. Pretty damn accurate.
@@doomguy584 Wow! It is sad that they discontinued such a classic rifle. I hope they end up replacing it with something from their new line of rifles. However I don't see any mini action yet in their 600 series.
Give the lollipops a chance and move them out to 150. I have a Ruger that I used pop the little BB gun orange disks with at 150. A lot of fun and don't have to lie to the kids about the candy. I converted it to 17 Ackley Hornet so it makes a bigger explosion now. Still have the 22 barrel so it may go back some day.
Thanks for watching James! I should start trying at longer ranges. Or try other targets. I've heard great things about the Ackley Hornet. But I expect you probably reload. That is one of my shortcomings which restricts me to calibers I can buy ammo for.
The one thing I hate about the 22 Hornet is the bolt. When you pull the bolt back, it is extremely high and doesn't leave much space between it, and the scope. This is especially a problem if you have bigger hands.
