- Nicole has been pushed to her limit by Mahmoud. "You don't control me anymore!" she tells her husband. Nicole's fed up of Mahmoud's controlling nature and his passive aggressive comments. She hates the burkini she's been forced to wear. And she's having a crisis of faith. All this has built up and now it's time for her to explode. It all comes to a head on the streets of Cairo in front of everyone. And when Mahmoud issues his ultimatum to Nicole to come home or he'll divorce her, Nicole choses to stay. Nicole didn’t like the swimsuit because her identity is her clothes and self expression and independence. The burkini is a symbol of all that being taken away. It had nothing to do with being stared at or not. It was a symbol of her complete submission and her independence being taken away.

I think Nicole applied to 90 Day Fiance before she got married, but impulsively jumped the gun, married Mahmood, lived with him for 2months, fled the country to return to the US - AND THEN 90 Day said she'd appear on the programme. She's getting paid for her appearances, not Mahmood, so she didn;t really have anything to lose to star in the show, but 100% she knew it was over before she left the US. I mean her friends, family, everyone was confused when she up and 'immigrated' to another whole-ass country.

I don’t think it should be up for debate whether women are equal to men, but half the world disagrees. In any case, people who disagree on that shouldn’t date each other.
Women aren't equal to men though. A 15-year-old man has more physical strength than a 25-year-old woman. We are complimentary individuals, not equal.
As someone who became Muslim after meeting their husband, I see where they’re both coming from. I just wish that before converting Nicole would have got the space and freedom to explore Islam without the pressure of them being together or not. I was only able to convert after I learned about the religion on my own and grew to love praying, fasting, and dressing modestly on my own terms in my own time. That’s the only way I think it could work.
Nicole chose this though. Mahmoud did not pressure her, it was her choice. She just made it without thinking.
Hes just shoving it down her throat and she's sick of it. When I was trying to convert my husband to my religion, I learned to let him grow at his own pace. I tried that shoving it down his throat. You have to love them because someone loved you! He came around after 5 years.

The way Mahmoud operates is not how all Muslims operate. This is something specific to him. Many Muslim women don't wear head coverings. But Mahmoud insists Nicole must. Why? Isn't it supposed to be the woman's choice? Then he talks about men and women not going out together in mixed company or something like that and right behind them are people in mixed company. In Egypt, not everyone wears this stuff. Some women wear regular, albeit, relatively modest bathing suits. Why does Nicole have to wear a scuba suit? All of this is about control. Nicole is wrong for agreeing to all this stuff from the beginning and then going back on her word though. She should have never got with this controlling fruit cake. Why would anyone want to deal with some limp-wristed dude telling you what you can and cannot wear everyday? The sister-in-law has NO FRIENDS. Why would anyone not brainwashed want this?
100%. So many comments sound like this is all of Islam and it isn't. Most of this is Mahmood. You also don't have to give up your entire identity and culture to marry someone. Yes, follow the laws there (don't make wine in Qatar like Laura), but when you're in private you compromise. If you can't compromise on anything you have no business being in an international relationship.

Im muslim woman from Eastern Europe married Libyan, and i absolutely agree. However my husband and I find religion as our base for life and have same and simillar goals and thoughts. Her sister in law not having friends is literaly SICK esp since its probably her husband not allowing it.

Exactly. I’ve been to Egypt and it’s really not as strict as he’s making out. I saw a lot of Muslim Egyptian women dressed really classy and covered but without a hijab. She couldn’t look more respectful if she tried. He’s just a control freak but at 38 she should definitely have known better

In Islam when praying alone he isn’t required to recite it aloud but when he has a group or someone behind him he has to. So she is partially telling the truth about never hearing him. Either way this relationship is toxic.

It’s obvious that wearing this type of suit in Egypt is common! Why is she making this about her? I think she has some body image issues. And for whatever reason she feels the need to show her self off, she is now married and has converted to Islam! She left a couple of months after her marriage. Did she not Google what it is to be an Islamic woman? This storyline doesn’t make any sense they’re making it sound like she’s a complete idiot and has no idea that he’s going to be strict? The reports are she had already left Mahmoud and Egypt. But 90 days persuaded her to go back for the filming. Not sure if Mahmoud is in on the fakery or if he really thinks she's back for another try. So her gaps in knowing the guy is real, she was never really into the culture.
Leave now while you can Nicole, and once back home in the states take the time to heal & self reflect and please don't get into any relationship right away and wait at least a year, just focus on you.❤
Nicole is someone who is lost and trying to find something meaningful out of life, spirituality, travel, all that. She is a prime target for this kind of guy. The fact that she converted without even learning how to pray tells everything. its not about religion its about a couple who isn't meant to be together. I've never seen any moment of friendship let alone romance between them, its always tense and awkward. He sees that emptiness in her and he's filling it with control. Maybe it gives him a sense of power to have control over her, he seems off to me. Now her identity is the outsider in Egypt, even without hijab why is she walking around with a 1920's style platinum bob? This relationship isn't healthy either direction and she needs to go home and figure out who she really is. And he needs to marry someone who can put up with his incessant demands!

@@MJ-py7dm when you live in North Africa you see this kind of stuff every day. Because there is an element of party girls who just want a holiday boyfriend and the guys know this. The same way there are men who just want women in Latin America and Eastern Europe. But there are also the soul seekers like Nicole doing yoga, meditating, studying sufism and all this because they feel as if they have no place in their own country. American culture is cold, unattached and there's no community. The way you described her says it all. None of their issues have to do with the age gap and none of her interest in him had to do with his age. I know plenty of success stories of women much older than her who started business or married without even converting. These women have a true self. Nicole does not which makes her ripe for scam artists, users, and guys like this who probably assumed she was rich because she's an American who travels. I don't know if I agree with this take. She is a liberal California woman. She is almost 40 years old, there is no way that she didn't know how conservative this culture was and what she was getting into. Nah it's not an American thing when people are forced into doing things they are not comfortable with. His family is very conservative even in Muslim standards. She needs to go home to her parents. This is not worth it. When I was with my toxic ex in his country, I missed my parents so much everytime he and me got into fights. My love for my parents and myself was enough to stop the relationship forever and go home.

She was "praying" with manicure on her fingers? I doubt that she made wudu (ablution) and then she went to paint her nails. Performing wudu with manicure on it's a failure and the prayer is not accepted.

Recently discovered your channel and love your point of view. That being said. Word on the curb is: TLC learnt of Nicole's previous marriage/situation. Then convinced her to call up M and under the guise of 'rekindling' their broken marriage, appear on this 90 Day series. 1) She'd get paid 2) exposure towards her future business 3) Build her Social Media by (constantly) appearing to be the 'victim'. This was NEVER about them getting back together. Perhaps in M's mind it was?
How many times did he tell us...she agreed to wear a hijab..dress modestly and fulfil her duties as a 'Muslim Wife'. Suddenly she gets there and denies ever saying that? She never had any intention of remaining with him. I wonder why TLC gives a salary to all the Americans on this series - yet their partners get zero but I digress. I cannot stand this woman. Once again....she gives 'Muricans a REALLY bad rep. Who decides to become Muslim..without SERIOUSLY studying all it entails as a wife.
She not only lives in La La Land (Literally) but at 38/near 40 - is the quintessential "Airhead waiting on an airstrip to land".

Edit: Does anyone know why all the 'Murican's on this series get paid, while their partners in often poorer countries do not? Then once the relationships dissolve and they fly back to the US...often leaving said person behind to repair sometimes serious damage done to their family/community.

I am an American and I have traveled extensively around the world and I had no problem whatsoever with wearing a hijab. Nicole and people like her are really selfish and their ignorance is beyond irritating to me. She decided to convert and her arrogant behavior is sickening. In America people like them are very entitled and they take that arrogance with them everywhere they go. I am of the belief that they shouldn’t be allowed to go anywhere because they are very problematic. As for the payment system I find it very unfair that the foreigners don’t receive payments. And I chalk that up to the same system that produces people like Nicole. To them there is no true respect for others cultures and they refuse to actually respect anyone else’s beliefs. I can’t stand them, at her age she is disgusting with her attitude, actions & behaviors. M. Should leave her ignorant but on the streets and not help her in anyway! Smh
