Nice job, David, especially in reciting Hamlet’s soliloquy. It’s such a powerful speech which makes evident to us how profoundly Hamlet is suffering, especially since Gertrude has so hastily remarried-and to someone who is so inferior to Hamlet’s father-someone Hamlet sees as a “satyr” when compared to godlike King Hamlet. It’s also so interesting how Hamlet keeps revising the amount of time that has passed since his father’s death in this soliloquy-two months, then not two months, then “within a month.” The amount of time, of course, does not matter. In Hamlet’s mind, the grief is alive and immediate, and he seems to be the only person in the kingdom who is in mourning. We really see Hamlet’s profound suffering here. I’m enjoying hearing you talk about Hamlet. It’s my favorite of the tragedies too. Thanks for doing this series. 😊

I love Hamlet! You explain this so relatable that I think it would be great for a high schooler to watch when studying. We are emphasizing American lit for my daughter’s freshman year next year, but I am saving this to my homeschool playlist for use in 2025. 😊
