as a woman with no personal interest in makeup or fashion for myself, i have huge respect for ppl who express themselves that way, especially if they go all out. i think there's a huge difference between a like, kid wearing makeup bc they feel pressured to look a certain way vs an adult expressing themselves through a certain aesthetic. there's definitely baggage within the makeup & fashion industry because they need us to think we're unlovable without their products, but at some point creativity + intention + hard work = art, no matter what tools you're using. lots of love, raecine! thanks for spending your time with us!⚘️🖤

I wore cat eyeliner, and red lips, and dyed my hair dark when I was younger. I just turned 58 in November and I find that with the changes in my skin wearing lots of makeup actually makes me look older and clownish. Sadly, the look is less Liz Taylor and more Ozzie Osbourne which is only good on Halloween. Now I usually just wear tinted sunscreen and lip balm. I've come to enjoy being a crone running through the woods with leaves in my hair and dirt under my fingernails. People complain about my look too. I recently got trolled on IG by a twenty-something woman for posting a no-makeup selfie with my cat. No matter what our choices are someone is going to take umbrage. I think you look super hot though! The glamour look totally sucked me into your videos as I was looking for oracle deck reviews. A friend of mine wrote a book called Waking the Witch. Have you read it? She writes about the different incarnations of the witch in our culture. Whichever witch we choose to embody, we are empowered. 🖤

This was such a wonderful and powerful video Racine - I have so enjoyed your subsequent videos also. I also filmed a glamour magick video nearly two months ago but it took me ages to upload so I only got it up a couple of weeks ago. I think there is something energetic happening a lot atmo with the divine feminine as well, and it's a powerful stream of consciousness. I definitely want to see more content creators speaking on these topics. 🙏💜xx

This is prefect! I'm in my 50s and working on how to evolve into this new powerful phase of femininity in a graceful and positive manner. I don't think taking less space, be less visible, step back, wear sensible clothes and less makeup is part of the answer. Thank you!

If you continue this series and ever consider having a guest on your channel, I would love to see this topic discussed further from a Crone's perspective. What are your thoughts on glamour magic and aging? This may be a controversial opinion but I think Anton LaVey had a lot of interesting things to say about glamour magic in The Satanic Witch, even though he was problematic in a lot of ways.
Interesting that men say makeup is false advertising when their first complaint in marriage is usually that the wife let herself go, meaning she quit putting on the glamour (makeup, jewelry, sexy clothes, etc). Personally I from my dating experience I do not trust men who say they don't like girls who wear makeup. It just gives off controlling vibes and frankly I'm not about to give up my vampire lipstick for any damn man 😆
The way I see it is -as women we are going to be judged by our appearance no matter what. You are better off doing what makes you feel confident and you will attract the right people into your life ❤

I love the idea of a crone who is past the “sexy” years doing glamour magick talks.
I’m approaching that time, and I’m just like… when are women “allowed” to NOT have to try to be “sexy” and alluring, and would love to know how glamours work in a different light when you’re not trying to look sexy, and other ways to express it

Insightful! Every true Witch knows that makeup and beauty are nothing more than tools. They can help get us what we want, who we may want, or how we may desire to feel about ourselves. However the tool should NEVER be equated to who we are. Women tend to shame and look down on other women whose natural “tool” (Beauty) may be more or less acceptable and praised than theirs. This type of vanity has essentially killed our sacred sisterhood. Let’s us use our tools wisely and purposefully, without condemnation of others, or allowing it to cast illusionary spells on us making us believe we are something we are not, because our beloved tool is always fading. Even as we speak. ;)

I love "The Love Witch" its such a great movie.
I will never understand people who put restrictions on what feminism is. Its about women being able to do what they want and live how they want and not be punished or seen as less than for whatever those choices are. If they want to wear makeup, great! If they want to be a stay at home mom, great! If they want to start a business or throw themselves into their career and never have children, great. Of course there is more to it such as equal pay but at its core its about not shaming women for living the life they want and being their best selves.

In Your Beauty Mark, Dita says something like "You can be the juiciest, most delicious peach in the world, but there will always be someone who doesn't like peaches."

Agree 💯👍. As a woman whose beauty was not always obvious to myself or others, I have had to do shadow work on this area. I think that women would lose the desire to antagonize other women over their looks if they could all get healing on the subject of their own beauty. I am so interested in this subject, also, as someone exploring these themes in my own novels. ❤ I see Taylor Swift carrying so much of this into the public awareness, too. She's another who's not afraid to rock a red lip. 💋✨

  • @rootsofaurora
    @rootsofaurora Рік тому +1

This is so interesting and I can relate a lot. :) It's funny because me and my husband discuss this subject sometimes, and he's often on the opposite side not understanding at all how makeup, outfits, and esthetics can matter to me. I think some people are just a lot more in tune with the five senses and perhaps are more sensitive to them.
Do you ever feel like "beauty" can be taken too far? I think we all must set our own boundaries and I respect that some women think using makeup is a huge waste of time and money (even though I'm a makeup nut like you lol). For me there is a line that I draw and it's connected to plastic surgery. I see so many young women getting breast implants and lip fillers and as a general phenomenon I think it's extremely sad. And I don't mean the results, but rather the fact that women willingly go through risky surgery in the name of beauty... Especially newer surgeries like BBL come with risks that seem to be ignored. I wonder how far we should go just to come closer to the ideal beauty...

Makeup, just like any skill, takes some practice. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. I think of it more like fun self-expression and creativity. Things that are conventionally beautiful or just what we like and find empowering can be different. Sometimes you don't know what you like until you try, which is a good reason to try new things. Makeup doesn't have to be something that is taken very seriously. Just some thoughts from my journey. And, it's not permanent. If you don't like it, wash it off and try something else.

Love ❤️ this video - can’t wait for more! ‘We don’t heal the feminine by becoming masculine’ - absolutely 👏 . My first professional job, I was told by a woman in HR that I should wear trousers/pants because it was ‘more professional’. Many new employees followed her advice, but it inspired me to be who I am - I love dresses/skirt and my high high heels! It makes me feel comfortable and strong. And of course, I had no issues whatsoever with being taken seriously by others, including men. Spending time to look good is a form of self care for me - it really should not be seen as either a requirement for women or an indication that we are being false or otherwise. I am so glad that you are going to speak more on the topic of glamour magic - you are the perfect person to do so! Blessings 🖤💋

I so resonate with you. Beauty as an archetype is sacred and HOLY and it’s something that women (and all those people who feel womanly) can more easily tap into.
There’s two books that I’m thinking of that empowered me in my beauty- one was Goddesses Within Everywoman by Jean Shinoda Bolen, specifically the section on Aphrodite (as a predominantly Aphrodite type)- it’s an amazing book.
Another one was The Satanic Witch by Anton LaVey. I don’t love everything in that book, but he’s right about sooooo much and obviously he’s a man and he’s honest about his perspective as what kind of power women have and a lot of it is our beauty! And he definitely recommends a red lip.
I will definitely check out those books. I’ve already watched The Love Witch after you recommended it on another video. I loved it!

Awesome conversation! I'm a Gen X'er, but also grew up turning heads & they were mostly very undesirable older one's at that! I understand make up as a mask, as something I'd ply on bc I had no self esteem.. lots of childhood shiz I won't get into, but now... I'm in a comfortable place where yes, I like make up, but I very much just like applying it to subtly enhance. I'm good at application & I fronted rock bands for years so as a performer I'd wear more of it, kinda like your look today, & yes... very much felt empowered on stage. When we suffer low self worth, no matter how many (& there were many) peeps rant on about how beautiful we are, make up can almost be detrimental to knowing oneself, bc the drag aspect is all we can cope with. This is my own personal experience, no reflection on anyone else. So now I just love when I go out, to do me & the subtle but empowering make up I feel good in my own skin, about. I don't like to see my make up coming into a room before me, if that makes sense. Personally, anyways... but even with more subtle make up I either love a good gloss or a statement lippy. It can rock with little else, also. We are lucky that we can experiment & give ourselves new looks when we feel like it. Its good to know we can tap into that when we want to. Also, I've always called myself a feminine feminist & I stand by that! I was born feminine looking & have had no desire to male drag up to make any point. No judgements, but thats not me! But I 100% stand for our rights as sacred femininity gracing the world, & fight all injustice fights! Always❤

This video was such a wake up call for me. A piece of the pussle I never have had. I cried so much and journaled so hard on all of it. So many realisations!
As a person with a traumatic upbringing cantered with neglect, loneliness and psychological abuse I never had a sense of women. Never even a sense of mind or body. I was a tom boy that only lived to survive. I still am. This video is such an eye opener to me 💔💖💔
I'm going to work on changing my outlook of myself. This is such an obvious thing that I've been missing and so badly wanting for so many years. Now, at 40, and after watching this video I can say that I want this. I want the expression of being sensual. To feel and express sexiness. I've thought about this and I feel if a person does shadow work and is honest to themselves, they will find that make up is worn to puff up and feel less insecure and to attempt to manipulate how others perceive them. Why do people need to make themselves look better? People can't even see themselves without reflections. Cat eye makes a person feel more confident because it makes them look like a "tough boss bitch". Why does someone need to project that? because they are insecure. I wear make up and like to make my brows very sharp and arched, I could lie to myself about all kinds of things why I do this but at the absolute root of it is just insecurity. Large part of glamour magick is using it as a coping mechanism for insecurity, the other part is manipulating others.
