where have you been all my life dude, when I needed you!!!! No one else on UA-cam explains as clearly and precise. I would have had two or three startups by now if I had you 15yrs ago. Natural born teacher. It is a lost Art. Good work
This guy is so precise, extremely clear, gets right to the point, and I love his recap. It just puts everything into perspective and gives you that “light bulb” effect. Pretty satisfying. This channel is better than going to college and learning about this in person. With that said, you just got a new subscriber.
Thanks Eli for taking time out of your busy day to help others achieve or require themselves an.education and career. I know your are busy with work and your own studies but yet you take the time to help others even.though you get no lay other than the satisfaction of knowing you helped someone. That's goes a long way in this world and is something you should be proud of. I watch your videos and they remind me.of who I use to be and still are. I lost my self and my career due to a.terrible drug addiction and just now getting back on track. Your.videos have helped me.immensly. I'm back to working and studying hard. Thank.you for all that you do. your hard work and.effort is.not without aprection to so many of us out here.
I am new to learning Windows Server and just installed Server 2012 Essentials. I have watched other videos in the past and I must say that as usual Eli's videos are the best.
Eli, my co-worker Julio recommended your videos and as I start a new job soon, I needed a quick course on adding a user with AD and while I've added accounts at the local level, I'm now prepared to add users to a domain now. Thank you for your easy going attitude on the subject.
You are an amazing teacher.... Thank You! I am a senior Cisco Voice Engineer and I am on a quest to teach myself Skype for Business 2015 to expand my skillset. I am most grateful for your videos...
Eli,I want to say thank you for these videos you taught this green horn how to set up a AP/DS DNS.. I didn't use the dhcp pfsense does my dhcp. I binded the firewall to my domain and that really was not hard to do.. Ive worked on computers for a long time built them and everything just never played around with windows server 2012.. But You helped me out and I thank you. b/c now I have a domain and AD.. You Rock
you are one of the best explainer teacher on UA-cam, if its not the best out there , well talking, man you do good things for people, we thank you a lot !
Eli i have learned alot from you. I changed my path in life and went to for the IT business, you have made that path easier. Thank you alot for your educational videos!
Just a quick thanks for your videos. You are a FANTASTIC teacher. I've wanted to set up a basic home network with Server 2012 and didn't know a lick about Active Directory, DHCP, or DNS (other than very basic definitions). Within less than a day I've gotten a fully functional network up and running. Thank YOU! Oh, and thanks for drilling home that other DHCP servers/devices can cause headaches -- had an existing router causing issues you warned of.
Anyone who struggles with connecting to the internet on client machine. Go to DHCP, right-click on 'Server Options', click on 'Configure Options', tick the box '003 Router', enter default gateway IP and hit ok. It should work. Took me hours finding this.
Thank you Eli, your teaching style really helped me understands because you explain with clarity and just enough information in each videos without overloading of information. 👍
I am so happy I found your channel! these are amazing videos that are very informative and very easy to understand. I am going to make sure all of my Marines watch your videos. Keep up the good work man!
I find it much easier to manage users by adding an "organizational unit" (right click the domain, new, organizational unit) under the domain and put users into different categories in that folder (organizational unit). Think of this like having different folders on your desktop and putting certain files into that folder instead of having them sprayed all over your desktop. You can easily move a user to a different folder by right clicking on that user and select "move..." Don't forget to change their responsibilities (if needed) once you move them to another folder. Moving a standard user into an admin folder doesn't automatically give them admin rights. I have a users folder with all these built-in account types, but by having all my actual users in folders (and even subfolders), I can go directly to the administrators folder to see who is an admin, standard users, managers, older users, etc. Nice basic class!
you my great man, will save my exam, its sad to see that our teacher cant do half of what you can do, thanks for porbably the best windows server 2012 videos out there, great work! :)
For your info Eli (and everybody), you can Alt+F4 out of the Windows 8 "Hi, while we're preparing your PC..." introduction. This will give you a black screen until the point where the desktop is actually ready (which MAY be before the Metro intro ends depending of the machine's speed)
Thank you SO MUCH for your help to learn a lot of things for MS WINDOWS SERVER 2012, AD, DC, DNS, DHCP and all your videos are wonderful learning materials , I really appreciate your help. THANK you and good luck.
Your Information is very clear and accurate. I have learned a lot of the thing through your Video and practiced in Oracle VM VirtualBox. Thank you very much for your videos.
Mr. Eli , your the best instructor in the market for my, as i'm watching your videos in 2018 :) So, a humble request Senpai. Do make your own guide book / work book. Your an amazing Trainer. Love from Pak.
omg ELi you are a life saver man thanks for the videos God bless you !!! I had to help a company with this and i got it now. Same with the groups I got that and group policy video is awesome.
Hi Eli, My name is Khalid im not sure if this means much to you but i am 14 and i have learned alot about computers thanks to you please excuse my grammar its not the best but anyways thanks to you i know lots more about computers like servers hacking ddosing and lots of other things i know more than the average 14 year old does so please keep making these great videos it really helps me alot.I also plan to become a computer programmer
Not always, you can use something like a Windows deployment server which can automatically add the computer to the domain. This will assign a PC name/join the domain. Eg. Accounting01, Accounting05,Accounting06 and so on. But im not 100% on this, hence why I am here. But my main point is that you don't need to be at every computer before creating accounts as it's the Domain controller that holds all the information.
MS OS's come with a 180day trial - see the start of this server track. This is fine for the purpose of teacing. Eli, I was wondering if you were going to be doing more intermediate/advanced classes within this track? I find your classes brilliant and interesting, but I'd like to see a set aimed at more than the very freshest of newbie.
Awesome videos Eli. I am watching all of your videos along with cbtnuggets and research online and hope to receive mcsa server 2012 certificate. Keep up the great job. Ps. I don't see these videos under the server 2012 playlist. It's not a big deal but some people might get confused.
Dear Eli Thank very much for your lessons. I have one questions about users files. So if you add another user (ex.Test User 2) and the Test User 2 login in the same PC (Test PC) what happend? Can Test User 2 see the Test User 1 files or vice versa?
Hey Eli, you are so cool. Thanks for this awesome tutorial. I had done some kind of networking long long ago with windows 2000 Advanced Server in my dad's school just after my studies of software engineering, for a test purpose. I had never come to a situation like establishing a domain controller by myself after that. Today, when I had to encounter the situation like establishing a domain controller for my own office, I had to recall all I had done with windows 2000 server. So I choose the latest version of windows server i.e 2012 server. Was pretty confused on my way, but I found you here and your video was really really helpful. I don't know how am I gonna pay for that, because in the current world, nothing is or should be for free. Whenever you feel like visiting Nepal, a beautiful mountainous country with Mt. Everest, please inform me so that I can sponsor the whole tour for you. Come for adventurous trekking, hiking, mountain climbing, mountain flights and so on. Good luck, and thanks again.
Thanks Eli can you please elaborate a bit on SCCM and how its related to active directory and also SSO with AD directory services.Active Roles Server please..
Hi Babajide You do not need to do that. and with a lot of users -how can you? The PCs can be joined to the domain before handing them to the users and all they need to do is login with their credentials. Otherwise, you can pre-stage the PCs ie have the PC account created in AD. Through remote session, you can login in to the PC as local admin and then join the PC to the domain. There is WDS that can handle this problem too
Hi Eli, thank you so much for the time you take to make these wonderful videos. You are the bomb! Please is also possible to configure Load balancing on a Windows Server just like you can on a Cisco router with up to 6 equal paths using routing protocols like IGRP or OSPF.... can't remember. if it is possible, can you please make a video on how to do so?
Why do we have the option "account is disabled" while creating a NEW user..what's the purpose of disabling the account when it is being newly created????
+zamir sayed security reasons... you can create the account before the person actually needs it and simply make it disabled so that it cannot actually be used. Once the person needs the account you can then enable it.
+zamir sayed This option is for when you need to create multiple users quickly. You create the account, example- "salespeople" fill in the vague fields, disable the account for security and keep copying the user(salespeople) you just made and will inherit the same permissions as the original "salespeople"
We used this a lot for Temps and Consultants that needed access one a case by case basis. That way we could have the account setup and ready to activate when they came and deactivate it when they left.
Hi,Eli, your videos are pretty cool and useful. Thanks a lot! However, it's a little hard to find logic relationship between videos on one technical topic. Could you put one topic into one folder and name videos in a way showing their order to master a specific technology?
Great refresher video. I run my own small business network. Question. Rebuilt a workstation on the Domain after accidentally locking myself out simply changing the name. Rebuilt from scratch. Administrative acct worked fine the day of build but after updates installed overnight, the normal user account works but the admin server acct does not Work on the new workstation build. (win server 2012). Any ideas or remedy?
I have a question though. If a user logs in to a different computer, let’s say, the CEOs PC, and works on it and decides to save a file, where does that file go or where is it saved to? Is the file saved on the CEOs computer or is it saved on a file server setup previously? Or is it saved back on her original computer back at the office?
How did you log into the windows 8 computer while running windows server? Is that due to the vm version you have, that allows you to run multiple vm? Did you added the Pc into the network?
Man, I come to your videos before I go on Job interviews. You 1 teach people how to do things but for me you give me the best refresher courses.
I just love how this guy takes his time to teach. Even the slowest learner will get his concepts which are apt. Continue the good work. God bless you!

Thanks Eli, these videos are a great help. Following the steps while doing it on a test server install, helps the learning curve.

I was wondering whether you needed to have licence to join that windows8 computer to domain etcg?
