  • The final part of my Falcon build, Painting and weathering.
    I assemble the last few pieces, then finish the main paint job.

    Nicely done Chris, and a good show of how each weathering step was done!

      Thanks, wasn’t see how much of each to show before it got REALLY boring. ;-)

      I think it was just enough, I watched from start to finish, even the repeated part! ;)

    It looks great, love your techniques...my only advice if any newcomer watches this: the streaks coming off the exhaust vents should go straight back, in line with each other

      Thanks.
      I’ve seen it weathered both ways, and having them parallel just doesn’t look right to me.
      Of course, everyone is welcome to build/ paint however they like!

    I’m having a great time during the pandemic following this build. Just applied the black primer coat. I’m not really looking forward to the ultra tiny stickers- I might improvise like you did.

      It doesn’t matter how long it takes as long as you’re enjoying it!

    Turned out nice!
    I don't like the rectangular radar dish but the rest of it was nice.
    You see it from the front and it's real obvious the shape comes from a hamburger bun, doesn't it?
    Yeah, this is influenced by the original Millennium Falcon model more than the models built for the The Empire Strikes Back.

    I'm building this kit and have used some of your painting methods. Appreciate the tips. Also, I have a question about the decals. Decals 28-33 are in a subsection cutout photo. The text underneath reads in English "Side of cockpit." However, I can't find anywhere these six tiny red decals go. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

      Sorry, I don’t remember. There are loads of reference pictures online though.

    You got a dupe! 10 mins is a repeat of around 7 mins,I thought I was going crazy :) you might be able to use the built in UA-cam editor just to snip that bit out save you have to re-upload!

    Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what black have you used for the undercoat/priming? I've been watching the build and taking note of the paints you've been using (so I can order them myself), because I really like the job you've done, but I haven't caught what type of black you've used. Thanks for the videos! :-)

    • @GrossModels
      @GrossModels  4 роки тому

      Not a dumb question at all! I use UMP primers. This one used the normal black, but there is also a gloss black which is very good. They are available under several different names worldwide. Ump in the uk, also badger and mig.

      @@GrossModels Awesome! Thanks so much for the reply! I don't have a spraygun so would you have any recommendations on a brand of spraycan primer/paints? (This is my first time trying to paint so my wife isn't keen on me forking out a lot to start with, and that's probably fair enough LOL.)

    • @GrossModels
      @GrossModels  4 роки тому +1

      I haven’t used spray primer for ages, not really sure. I think Tamiya are still good though. Make sure you do it outside, family seem to have problems with using rattle cans indoors for some reason. :-)

    • @lowman5000
      @lowman5000 4 роки тому

      @@GrossModels Ha ha ha! My wife would have kittens if she even thought I'd do it inside. :-P Thanks for the info. I'll check out Tamiya. The local hobby store supplies Humbrol only (not sure what that's like), so I'll have to search further afield (and hopefully not get stopped by the police for "non-essential travel').

    Hi I really liked the video can you tell me the name of the paintings you used please

    • @GrossModels
      @GrossModels  4 роки тому

      The paint was a UMP primer, and Tamiya spray can for the main body. Some Vallejo colours for the detail. But really, any paint you like can be used.

    • @GrossModels
      @GrossModels  4 роки тому +1

      Sorry. It was over 2 years ago I did this kit and video. It’s probably Vallejo metallic but I don’t remember.

    Where can I purchase those alligator clips and bases to hold the model for priming and painting?

    • @GrossModels
      @GrossModels  4 роки тому

      The clips and sticks are from amazon, the bases are just foam, you can get a big chunk and cut to whatever shape you like!
