While it may look like the Countryman was having trouble keeping up with the Corolla, you are not allowed to pass during a hot lap.
So Cristian had to slow down to avoid overtaking the Corolla.
The Corolla was actually slower than the Countryman.
Don't bother my friend, they don't WANT to read... Let them believe what they want, it's easier for some of them 😅

That GR Corolla is absolutely leaving the Countryman for dust, that’s embarrassing ngl. I always knew the extra horsepower on the previous model was the reason why it always gapped most high performance hatchbacks.

I know you and I were. Can’t say the same for others. I had to make a community post as well so people understand you can’t pass during hot laps. Otherwise Cristian would have done donuts around the GR Corolla.

As a 2023 countryman S owner and loyal mini cooper repeat buyer, im a little disappointed.. It looks like i might need to look at Toyota 😢 for my next purchase in 2026....

He was slowing down to avoid passing it.
It is true, that Corolla could outrace your Countryman S. I would recommend getting a JCW.
Maybe at VIR they’ll let us pass the Corolla.
They actually radioed asking the Countryman to hold back a bit to allow for a gap between it and the Corolla.
They Corolla couldn’t shake the Countryman. I have 3 more laps on video and all of them the Countryman caught up and almost passed the Corolla but had to slow down due to the rules.
