I believe this is where reincarnation enters the conversation. You get as many lives as it takes until you get it right enough to finish the life given to you. This also explains ghosts, spirits, pergatory, dejavu and others.

My favorite episode so far. I’ve been struggling with my religious identity for years because I love my family who believes in God and the Bible but I personally agree so much with Kendall, specifically because she said it the most this episode, about innocent lives suffering for what? If God is with them, why arnt they protected? Why make them suffer if their lives weren’t meant to be here forever and there is this greater plan? And hearing such honest and respectful opinions have made me take a deep breath and I feel a huge weight off my shoulders that I’m not the only one who has these questions. I love love love love mile higher and the vibe and how SAFE of a space this is.

I love this kind of conversations! I’m a believer in God and Jesus, I have had some powerful spiritual experiences that made my faith stronger. But I also accept that there are many questions that I will never understand and nobody will because God is not from this world, therefore trying to get all the answers might be pointless and no human will ever have the absolute truth. As Josh said, we have to dig and in my opinion that digging for purpose and meaning is what keeps humans going.

This was an insanely good episode y’all. The questions were very thought provoking and you each spoke openly and honestly while being respectful of the beliefs of others. As a les-bean with one Christian parent who explored many other kinds of spiritualities, went down the Christian path at 26, and has now deconstructed their faith heavily while still believing in (a non homophobe) God, this is a subject I love to discuss and hear about.

  • @shaestewart5261
    @shaestewart5261 Рік тому +151

I’m not a Christian, I wasn’t raised a Christian, but the ultimate answer seems very clear to me.
In simple terms, God says to follow the Bible and the teachings of Jesus. Nowhere does it say you must follow anybody else’s interpretation of it other than your own. Ostensibly, Jesus’ teachings are pretty darn wise. It’s how so-called Christians choose to interpret the teachings that are problematic. The Bible doesn’t kill people; people kill people. Thus, follow nobody’s interpretation of the Bible but your own and you won’t get led astray.

    • @shaestewart5261

Perhaps it’s not that there is a predetermined reason for everything,. Perhaps things happen, but it’s up to us to exercise our free will to determine what that reason is and if it’s even important. Reasons don’t always have to be big and meaningful; they can also be small and insignificant…and which reason is which is up to us to determine.

"Nowhere does it say you must follow anybody else's interpretation of it other than your own"..."It's how so-called Christians choose to interpret the teachings that are problematic"
Those you refer to as 'so-called Christians' are following their own interpretation of the Bible, but you judge them because it's an interpretation you may not agree with. You're so close to closing the loop.
The Bible says you mustn't follow anybody else's interpretation of the text.
      2 Peter 1:20 NKJV
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation
      2 Peter 1:20 ESV

I SAW him heal nurmerous people, i heard him direct people to find traditional medicines within our forests etc.. also heard some scary stories too but I wouldnt have choosen any other life except my mine., I witness my whole life seeing my grandfather talk to the spirit world and heard him spoke a few languages coming from a guy who only went to school till grade 3. I am sooo immensly honoured I got to see him speak to the Star Gods and heard many stories about Heaven and Hell. It kinda let me go through life with grace and truste and to never give up or settle for anything less because of the information I accumulated, one day ill write a book, because i would love everyone to go through life without being afraid or hinderous because of faith..

Janelle bringing up the thought of someone you love not coming to heaven with you is really what got me years ago when I starting doubting every single thing I’d believed. Then I seen someone I loved very much who I know what such a genuinely good person, I seen them suffer in severe pain for a long time before they passed away in a way I’ll never get over. Never. And then my aunt explaining to me that she puts her husband before her children, her husband before herself, because the Bible tells her to….I just really don’t understand that kind of life. I believe in a God, but not the scenario I’d been told of in my life.

But then I had my first son, and he passed away at 2.5 months old. I IMMEDIATELY went straight back to Christianity because it’s all I knew, and at that moment I NEEDED to know that my son was in a better place and that he was still somewhere, and safe. I became obsessed with NDEs, because it helped me cope. Now I believe that all religions are a little bit right. I was a little nervy too and actually didn’t bring myself to watch it until now because I pretty much knew how most of them think of it all 😂 but I am so glad Josh has such a great knowledge of the Bible that he basically has the biblical answer to everything and they can all give their perspectives on it and it was a pretty good conversation to listen to. I definitely have answers to some things Kendall had concerns about that I think would help her understand why we believe this way

@@MyriamBernard13 when I say he has a biblical answer to everything, it’s more that he just has great knowledge about the Bible and can counter everything through that, even if he doesn’t quite get everything or answer it truly from a Christian’s perspective. He was definitely more respectful about it all and I feel for him as he battles with believing the Bible or believing his wife…

I can really resonate with what Josh said, and feels. I grew up the same way and its terrifying to be told all your life as a child that whatever you do that is "fun" in life is a sin, and you'll burn in hell for all eternity... unless you ask God to forgive you of your sins and repent. I think as a child you learn to fear hell, and Satan more than loving God. Terrifying as a child, crippling as an adult. I know it can be hard, Josh, but you have others that feel the same. You're not alone in your struggle, and I hope you can find inner peace ❤️

As a Christian, GREAT episode! Just now got the chance to watch it. But loved this & love that you were all open enough to do it! Josh, I can see how this would be incredibly hard with the stance you’re at right now in your own personal beliefs. I really could see Kendall becoming a Christian if she explored it enough and was open enough. And I say that in all respect. I think she’s open enough to do so. But I’m sure it could be incredibly hard. But her kind heart. The love and faith you can receive is something you have to experience to understand. And once you do. Its wonderful. I want nothing but the best for all of you & I hope God really does bless each of you! ❤🥰

When Kendall said that at the end you couldn’t start believing reminded me of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the cross when one of the other men crucified with him said he believed and was saved right then and there. Unlike the other guy who basically told Jesus to shut up because he didn’t believe in that kind of thing.

Another thing you guys should look at is if TRUE selflessness actually exists. Do you donate out of true selflessness, or do you do it because it makes you feel good and look good? Even when you dont expect anything back, it's usually motivated at least partially by a desire for the "warm fuzzy feeling". There was a guy who literally drove himself mad trying to prove or disprove this. He started being generous to the point of ruining his life, only to then realize that he STILL wasn't being truly selfless because he was motivated by a desire to prove something.

I'm a Christian and I of course don't agree with a lot of this but it was interesting to hear how others think/believe. I don't fear going to hell. The bible says if you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you will be with Him for eternity. I know it's hard to understand, especially if you don't know Him. You don't have to jump through hoops to get to heaven. Just believe in Jesus and accept Him into your life.

I also grew up extremely Christian and am currently pregnant. I always thought that I was healed from my childhood beliefs and traumas but now that I’m having kids, I’m having those thoughts creep back into my mind and it literally keeps me up at night 😅Am I going to raise my children right? What if Christianity really is legit and now I’m not living right with my family and we are all destined for “eternity in hell”? When I actually sit back and think about it, I don’t think that’s the case and I left the church for a reason.. but it’s hard not to have those thoughts come up. Glad I’m not the only one!

If you believe in god and adam and Eve, this is the life we live. Because of eves choices. We are on earth and things that happenal are a product of the world we live in.
We see god when we die. And when he comes home, his kingdom comes, his will be done, on earth as it is in heaven

i wonder the same thoughts because my heart breaks for animals that are mistreated or harmed by humans. i think we have an obligation to treat them with respect and kindness whenever its appropriate and safe for us to do so.

Hey Josh - I hear you about traumatic church experiences. I am a Christian and grew up Catholic, then became Protestant, ended up in a very culty church, but made it out with my faith intact and found healthier churches. I have had dreams from God as well as dreams processing through the old trauma. I just want to remind you of what you probably learned already..that God will give you wisdom to know which one it is - you only need to ask! I have no idea, but I pray in the name of Jesus that if He is trying to get your attention, that Jesus, you would make this so evident to Josh. I pray you lead him to grace filled places and people, and that he would taste and see that You are good. Amen 🙏🏻 Josh, thank you for being so transparent and vulnerable! Cradle Catholic here. Brought up in the church but am no longer practicing. Religious trauma is ever present.
One thing I am grateful to Catholic school for was the diverse ‘Religious Education’ that led me to studying Theology at University and delving into it continuously throughout this life. Looking into everything from ancient cave art to Zoroastrian, Hinduism, lAbrahamic religions to new age stuff and all in between. Catholic school was the first to bring up this diversity in spiritual thought. My children have been raised to question, delve into interests and to try and leave all things/people /places a little better than how they found them.
Religious trauma, heaven/hell/fear is always in the background of my mind. I feel those without it seem much more at peace in themselves.

I think generally most parents look to religion as an aid to bringing up kids with a solid understanding of right and wrong and being a good person. I think organized religion and God are 2 vastly different things and I think we sometimes allow organized religion to taint our view of God. would love more episodes like this. so interesting. comments here really interesting too. love julias insight. and all the work she does behind the scenes. content is super thorough. I believe there is something after this, maybe not a literal version of heaven, tangible and 3 dimensional but more an energy. just like I don't think hell is literally burning in fire. not sure what it is but I dont want it. Like Julia said I think all we can do is be the best person we can and try to keep our hearts pure and kind, show compassion and forgiveness, respect life and love. be a good human to others and to yourself.
