Anthony has played everything. Hiromi has played everything. Phillips has played everything. All of them, for decades. And they all excel at it all. This is the top level.
@@terrydee9045 I didn't see green shirt dude until your comment. After I saw him, there's another dude right next to him. Those four are all techs so maybe 3 for Simon, and 1 for Anthony? Hiromi's tech is behind her somewhere. Good catch. So which one of them is Simon's personal drum tech?
The fact that Anthony can murder 6-strings of bass AND balance his pick on his mouth without dropping it or swallowing it during the whole song is something worthy of the utmost admiration.
THANK YOU! i was skipping forward and reverse to figure out what the heck is he chewing on the whole time while looking surprised with EVERY note he play!
@@fretworks9692 is that the title? He was the composer/originator of the bass line…also played incredible bass on Michal Urbaniaks Fusion III. Worth checking out. Shalom
We truly live in the golden age of jazz. Efforts like this prove it. Hiromi's music is accessible and challenging at the same time with elements of swing, modern, and metal. Charisma and chromaticism with a decidedly rhythmic approach that is hypnotic.
Simon, Hiromi and Anthony are simply in another level, it's amazing how complex these compositions are and they nail it everytime. Simon Phillips it's my favourite drummer of all time, I wish to see them live someday.
Johnny G : In 2011, I saw Simon and his beautiful "Sunburst" Tama with Philippe Saisse on piano and Pino Palladino on bass at The New Morning Club in Paris. We were sitting ten meters from him and my gosh, what a fantastic and impressive drummer ! But also a simple and nice guy, always laughing and joking with his pals on stage as with the public ! Not three unbearable "stars" only here for the money. Just three wonderful musicians who offered us an unforgettable evening...
Dave Edwards I wish my brain and fingers worked as fast and fluently as Anthony Jackson (the no shit statement of the year). The guy is pure genius. Invented the six string!
Full of fire, passion and fun. People - this is what genius looks and sounds like. Absolutely epic... love the way she lifts her leg off the stool when the moment is right
For everyone wondering about the quality of the sound, why the bass seems "lost in the mix" or why the piano sounds like its "underwater," I'm pretty sure its just a byproduct of recording a huge venue, live. With all that sound bouncing around, its hard to capture pure, studio-like quality. Besides, I think their talent shines way brighter than the audio discrepancies...
Hiromi, Anthony, Simon !!! OMG! You are all "off this planet!" musically from another Universe surely!!! Precise execution of precise notes/hits in precise time by extraordinarily precise musicians x 3 !!! Amazingly Brilliant is a severe understatement!!! Thank you.😮😊
Hiromi is a fresh and beautiful summer breeze in the depths of January Music that is simple to listen to yet so very difficult to achieve . I have missed her sound and her smile Welcome back fair and sweet minstrel!! Please don't stay away so long!!
I show this to my students (3:16) as an an example of the deepest walking feel I've ever heard. The depth of his time... could listen to that passage all day.
There would not be a six string bass without Anthony Jackson. I love this video because these are all older players, who are proving they can still set the world on fire!
Thank you so much for this video 👊🏿 INCREDIBLE Musicianship 👌🏿👏🏿 Anthony Jackson is The Electric Bass G.O.A.T 👏🏿 This trio needs to be studied by all Musicians, they're that good!! Greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬👊🏿🖤
I bow to the forces of life given to us. To the wonder of our shared being and the mulcitipulous joys in hearing, seeing and viscerally feeling such magnitude of talent along this life path. Kudos Hiromi and the project. You inspire and lift us with your skills and voices. Hoorah!
she's ever had an incredible mastery, but through the years she's grown up in expression and sensitivity. Now she's not only fast and furious, she's music.
AMAZING MUSIC.I WAS STRANGED ANTHONY JACKSON WITH CAMILO.HIROMI IS A MONSTER IN PIANO & SIMON PERFECT.WHAT A TRIO PROYECT. SO GOOD ANDWONDERFULL MUSIC.MY BEST WISHING FROM LIMA-PERU.
What a phenomenal performance!Wow!🔥From around 07:30, there was such a great harmony between the bass and the piano.I wish the drummer had played the hi-hats instead of toms to let that harmony simmer and then slowly build it up.Hell of a show!!👍🏼💯🔥
I used to love watching Anthony Jackson kill it with Michel Camilo and Horatio Hernandez back in the day, so I'm not surprised that he would end up playing in another fabulous pianist's trio.
Some people prefer criticising instead of appreciating, and it's not even funny; M. Jackson is a GREAT ARTIST and I appreciate very much his performance
First time I heard Hiromi was 2008, Beyond Standard and it was not my cup of coffee. but THIS ?!... holy shit, it sounds so fucking good it blew me away so glad it appeared in my recommendation list
Is that thick bass a hollow body? Must be! Such a gorgeous trio. Suddenly goes be-bop and switch back to contemporary. Anthony's walking bassline is so good.
you can notice her classical schooling. she is by far the best jazz pianist and her technical skills excells everyone.
You dont listen to much Jazz, do you?
She's so good though
Anthony has played everything. Hiromi has played everything. Phillips has played everything. All of them, for decades. And they all excel at it all. This is the top level.
Her recording career has only been the last 20 years.
Do you think Simon has a drum tech three takes with him on the road huge drum set

The bassist's guitar face is one of the best I've seen.
indeed!
"Uh huh"
Clearly! 😂 And so much talent..
It's even better in the "From Within" with Michel Camilo and Horacio Hernandez 😏
Fun fact: he played bass on "For the Love of Money" by the O'Jays.

Johnny G Got to see him with the TOTO tour here in South Africa a few years back
He blew my mind .
All three these musos are fat, hot and tight.

Incredibly Ambidextrous
everyone's commenting on the bassist but oh my fuck she is a mad pianist! I love it so much, this is talent that aged like a fine wine.
Genius. Anthony is just incredible, and Hiromi - amazing. Phillips, as well.

I can't believe that this song is played by only 3.
音楽の素晴らしさ、、、
WOW. Simply breathtaking!!!!!! Pure energy.
11:05 ... that section is some of the finest audio I've heard in several years..... That part. those chords!
amazing finale
4am and i cant stop watching this... they are absolutely great so complex and skillful but tasteful and intense
Wow! You can actually forget about depression for 11 wonderful moments. Thank you Hiromi. 🥲
Genius pianist, she really is. And a quite good comedian too

My crush on Hiromi has been going on for the last 2 years and I still can't stop smiling at how freaking brilliant at this music thing she is.
So good to see the interaction between the musicians and the pleasure of Hiromi playing with such an outstanding rythm section.
Anthony is my hero. Hearing him on Public Access changed my playing forever.
She's so incredible! I love her! She's been such an inspiration to me for years.
This is absolutely amazing! This music inspired my first novel entitled "Flashback". Thanks for posting this video
I get stunned watching this. I really cant believe the level of talent in this stage. Love you Hiromi!!

Well that's pretty obvious sir. Thank you for clearing that up for us
one year too late but also i think hiromi puts a chorus effect on the piano
No it’s just out of phase mics lol
Ephrones Sharp Nope.
Out of phase mics can make the sound a bit chorus like because they pick different frequencies and overtones at different times
The bass also blends really well with the painos low notes hiding it in the mix.
