I don’t want to make this racial but Africa is the creator of all things. It’s unfortunate how white cultures stolen and claimed as their own and attempted to erase
Loved this montage but one African-American designer who stormed Paris and deserves a mention is Patrick Kelly. I loved his use of colours and buttons as decorative flourishes
Did you all know that Jacqueline" Jackie" Bouvier Kennedy choose an afro american stylist for designing her weeding dress instead of the French House of Chanel which she was the muse.
Unfortunately she never received credit for it while she was alive. She wasn’t allowed to put her name on clothing labels, and Jackie never mentioned her name when saying who designed the dress, she just said “I wanted to go to France, but a colored dressmaker did it.” Wish Ann Lowe would have received the praise for her beautiful designs when she was alive, but unfortunately she didn’t because she was Black
Ooh this is good!! Half of the time I have no idea what the MET Gala theme is until I see the celebrities, even then it's hard to understand, because let's face it, not all of them follow the theme, and they all have different interpretations of the theme. This was very educative and informative for the people who are not very well-versed in fashion like me!
@@mikaylasmith7600 I agree. could have had some potential but most of the looks made no sense to the theme. A lot that I was confused about made more sense when I heard the person explain the look and how it pertained to the theme but most…disappointing.
This series with Hamish Bowles is very interesting and informative, but who's idea was it to leave no pauses, and rush through it at the speed of light? It needs more elaboration, more examples to illustrate the great information presented. These videos each need to be at least 15 minutes long.
Blue jeans, denim, baseball caps, athletic shoes, t-shirts, hoodies, cowboy hats, boots, western wear, leather motorcycle jackets, aviators/sunglasses, and polo shirts are originally American and not a combination of different world cultures
I love that at 7:42 the guy was talking about racial inclusivity but only black hands were shown. Racial inclusivity is meant to be INCLUSIVE to all races, not just 1.
I would bet a few hundred that atleast one person is gonna show up in some flag inspired ensemble…I don’t have hopes that is gonna be great if they do either
I wouldn't call the Telfar Shopping bag vegan as Vegan is mostly known to be plant based. The shopping bag is made of vinyl- which is plastic. that's not vegan.
i noticed americans dont like it when somewhere like Korea has people who dress a certain way but if and americans dresses the same way they will be loved
To be fair i think the ones that criticized BTS did the same about Timothy because at the end they do not correspond to what men should be in their eyes. It's more about the karens out there than about the fashion enthousiasts.
@@68nessi i do agree but timothy wasnt as hated on then kpop idols fashion choices and sooner or later american fashion copys them and gets liked for it as if its new and trendy

They also need to mention Anne Lowe who made Jackie Kennedys wedding dress and was never credited because she was a black woman

im guessing A LOT OF THEM will wear the american flag print or colors lmao
I wish they sent this out to the stylists& glam squads for reference bc… the Met was a mess.

So American fashion is just a combination of the fashions of different world cultures
Exactly, but cant you see how America truly is a melting pot of different cultures and backgrounds historically!
