Hey everyone and welcome back to another restoration! In today's video I am restoring a Nylint Ford U Haul box truck. This thing was completed rusted out when I found it. I tired to fix the bed with labmetal filler but it was too far gone. Luckily I was able to source a nice rust free original body and a set of wheels.

My dad was a U-Haul dealer in the 70s and I received this truck for Christmas one year thanks for the video brought back good memories
I want this vehicle in Christmas
Well equipped for the job yet replaces many fixable parts, then leaves the orange-painted areas pitted and rough. All the comments saying, Magnificent, Beautiful, Wonderful! A head-scratcher for sure. The net result is a video containing few of the elements we restoration geeks typically look for. I guess it pays off. 35k subscribers. Hat's off!
Yes very poor and sad job
I Love watching these types of videos there so calming and relaxing who else agrees with me? ❤️
I agree totally relaxing...

Polyester glazing putty or 2k high build primer would have been a good option for filling the rust pits.
I got one of these for Christmas when I was 8. That was almost 50 years ago. I still have it ! In its original box. Some childhood memories, I just can't let go of.
Wow. I dont think I even thought of keeping the boxes for any of my toys.
I remember getting a Tonka dump truck (built sort of the same way) and like you I kept the box, looks kind of ratty now but I still have them together. Probably end up in the landfill when I'm gone. Great memories though:)
I still have a road grader I got for Christmas when I was 8 or 9 years old. Had for 50 years.
@@scotthorton1129 LOL, Now that you mention it I could have that as well? I'll have to do some digging. As the years go by the junk builds up.
Would be lovely to see a photo of it?
Youve got me all misty-eyed!! I received this model as a Christmas present... gosh... had to be 45 years ago! It was my favorite toy, had so much fun playing with it! Thanks for the memory ☺
I've seen a toy truck like that nearly 40 years ago when Nylint used to make these toys & that was the last time I've seen that U-Haul toy truck .
Totally amazing how you turned a lump of rust into a brand new toy.
It is really relaxing! & it's so cool to see these old toys saved from the trashcan,& brought back to New Status.....makes me wanna go grab some of my old Tonka trucks, & take a shot at this myself?
Do it!
I’m more amazed that you can actually find replacement parts for these old toys!
Wow amazing restoration on this uhaul truck I never knew that uhaul sold those toy trucks
Magnificent job! Now, some testors model paint for some detail work, clearance lights, tail lights and headlights. That would put it on the next level.
I never realized that U-Haul had unpainted trucks till I saw you restore this truck and didn't understand why you did that. So I looked it up and sure enough U-Haul had unpainted trucks in the 50's, great job and thanks for the history,
I just stumbled across you channel and I must say im impressed. Thank you for being back memories
Не устаю вами восхищаться и смотреть ваши работы!!!! Какая же красота получается, мне кажется новые так не выглядели, как после работ ваших рук!!!
Nicely done, sir. Decals really brought this one home.
Lots of memories for me seeing all these old trucks on your channel.
New to this channel and cannot get enough of it, love watching your work Joe. I find myself now looking at different sales sites for these great toys in the hope of finding a rare one.
This came out nice!!!! These toys are much better than the new ones today!!
Seeing this reminds me how much fun I had with Nylint and Tonka when I was a kid. You do great work!
Dont forget Buddy L
Cool name bro

Ran across these videos this morning & I can’t stop watching. Gotta take a lot of patience to do that.
What a beautiful restoration! I had one of these as a child unfortunately I sold years ago and it was still in nearly perfect condition. How I miss the toys in my childhood!
I think it good someone restores these old toys instead of just throwing them away, this is what we had as kids to play with, We would take them out Tonka's Nylint, to the field while our parents and grandparents was working, and play right out in the hot sun all day, Until we got old enough to work in the fields, I'm thinking some of these old toy trucks maybe still laying around the old barn. If they haven't been thrown away. I may give it a try. Problem is find the correct decals. It would very cool to give these to my grandkids and let them play with our old toys. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it enough to subscribe. I'll be watching
Todo un maestro, increible al ver el antes y el despues quedando como nuevo, mis saludos 👍 de 🇵🇪🇵🇪
A mi también me gustó como ha quedado es un experto sabe lo que hace ❤

I like the truck my favorite part is when he gets rid of the rust
Gosh, just imagine, METAL TOYS!!!!! WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK IT????? OH, HOW I MISS THOSE DAYS. These toys were stronger than my REAL car is in 2020.
Realmente es un maravilloso trabajo! Y me hubiera gustado mucho qué le encendieran los faros!
Oh man thats awesome! Classic u haul box truck.. Badass vintage toy.
Thank you. My dad gave me one for Christmas back in the 70's. Played with it till it fell apart. Good job. A joy to watch .
I am wondering why people would dislike a great art like this!! it’s actually disgusting.
Great job my friend. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.
ihab Abbas probably because the cab and the the frame was the only thing not ebayed.
Such memories, hope you display these in a prominent place in your home.
I have a 1950's Tonka Dump here on a shelf. It really needs some care before it gets in bad shape. Great to see the cool old toys brought back to life.
I had that exact truck as a kid ! Wish I still had it. Brought back some good memories. Thanks!
Never have I craved for a model car but this one...wow...Just beautifully restored. :)
Great work. I would encourage you to try and do more salvage. Use your skills to clean the original parts and reuse them instead of buying repops....
I can imagine how he would bring back a real classic car to life good job...
By replacing nearly every part from eBay.
Love it ! Hope to restore one of these days as well
Bringing the best of the past back to life.

Nice! It's turned out awesome! Thanks for sharing this!
I had several Nylint toys when I was a kid
Incredible. Just watched this and loved it. Might be one of my favorite restorations I’ve watched. Great work.
An amazing restoration good to see someone paying attention to detail and bringing these toys back to life keep it up
WOW JOE YOU DID A REALLY GREAT RESTO ON THIS MOVER TRUCK 👍😁👍
It's looks great thanks for bringing back my childhood when we had some cool toys didn't we
Incredible. Beautiful job! You really brought it back from the dead.
I tried to get that same model U- Haul truck that was restorated in this video. Enjoyed watching. Excellent work. ☺ 🚛
I remember seeing that toy truck on someone's porch in another neighborhood in West Philadelphia nearly 40 years ago during the time that Nylint were then still making & selling these toys & today the restoration job is very good , bringing back that 1960's original paint & design & all I say you can make a profit out of selling these old toys after doing a great job like that .
Nice to “hear from you”!
Old Fords never die! 👍
Next box truck you find, you should turn into a "tiny home". 😂
Gorgeous. Great job Joe. Saved another piece of Americana from the scrap heap!
Dad gave Me one just like this for Christmas one Year. He said, "Keep it around Son & Keep it Nice. You'll need it AFTER Divorce Court Some Day."
Good toys Nylint, i have a black tráiler like new with engine sound simulatión, i have 42 years old and this toys was gift from my grandmother
Quedó excelente la restauración del vintage rusty. Lo tienes a la venta?Es para mi hijo David Fernando
Saludos
you did a great job restoring the moving truck.
Who else fast forwards to the end only to realize I have to watch the whole thing just to see how those great results came about?
Me to had to know how it turned out saved ten minutes of my time
WOW! 3 Million + Views. Nice Work Joe DIY!

This is really AWSOME what a good job
sencillamente, espectacular.

Love the clanking and machining sounds! It's like you are working on a real truck.
I thought you had the finished one spinning on an Amazon Alexa lol🤗🤣🤣
Top notch work! But now, this truck needs to be displayed at some U-Haul store in a glass cabinet.
You do some awesome work restoring these antiques! Does anyone ever send you stuff to restore for them?
bet he did it on purpose. Of course uhaul thing is pefeclty not rust,
GOOD JOB !!👍 LOOKS GREAT !!👍
came out wonderful, I didn't know you could buy parts for these
Me gustó muchísimo tu vídeo, lo disfruté desde el inicio, te quedó exelente el camión y muy bonito...acabas de ganar un suscriptor!
When you see the renovation you suddenly realise how much play that toy went through.
Yea because back then kids actually played with toys
C4 gaming And they still do :)
I would have liked to see the little details painted like the box top light's & the Ford letters. Very Nice Work!
Bom dia! Ótimo trabalho! Parabéns! Ronaldo. Rio de janeiro - Brasil.
Very good. I'd like the collors you used, and the aluminium Collor in chest too
Why not use spot putty to cover some of the pitting on the cab and frame under the cab
This was bothering too. A lot of other channels like this smooth out the rust pitting.
This is such an excellent work!
But later, if you do another restoration (like this) try apply a primer coat before apply a top coat, resulting the paint looks smooth because the rust pits are filled with the primer coat.
I love to watch the work but must admit that I scroll to the sandblasting very quickly. Don’t know why but it makes me happy. Only my therapist can explain that one. 😂😂😂
Yeah. I felt the same way. It's one of those 'oddly satisfying' things that no-one can seem to explain. Your therapist will probably tell you to 'just go with it, so long as it makes you happy.'
Hi Lisa
I also skipped the sandblasting.. 🤭
🇿🇦
@@TheChallengerRT -- He said he skipper "TO" the sandblasting. The opposite.
Really beautiful restoration. Well done.
You should make the other box into a "tiny home"
Absolutely beautiful restoration job so relaxing to watch and satisfying
Kids today would not like that. I had one that came with a trailer and a car. Man did I love it.
I would! Anything from 1930s and above is my fav, I also love 60 and up music!
I had one that I loved. And I'm a freshman in high school.
looks great no matter what others say - well done Joe
Very nice, it’s a shame that you could not restore the box.
Could have if they really wanted to. Just lazy
Amo esses vídeos de restauração de coisas antigas 👏🇧🇷
Yo tambien, 🤣, y tengo algunos, a mis 65 anños.
Muito legal!
Thats cool as heck. I would love to have one of them
Children of this generation cannot imagine how happy we were as children and today we are over 40 years old, they wonder how we managed to play with these types of toys. Today any child from anywhere in the world will only come close to a toy like this if it is connected to the internet
That powder coat covered the pitted body well, as I thought you would fill it. That dent on the left door I couldn't help noticing, but still a wonderful job.
I see one on the left front fender, but not on the door
It's on the left side of the hood.Look at the end part of the video when it's on the turntable. It doesn't matter, it's not much, it's just that I saw it.
The UHAUL Co. ought to buy this from you and display it in their Corporate Hq to show the history of the Co.
I agree
My dads a general manager and got a video from the ceo
You are incredible!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Was this for a customer? My dad would absolutely love this. If it's for sale let me know
You knocked that outta the Ball Park Joe 👍
I have one of these. Mine is missing the grill, but it's in ok-ish condition.
His paint jobs are way better than that one other guy that creates similar videos
damaged Rear wheels of ford F150- 18:1 Scale diecast
from where can I get Replacement
An awesome restoration. It's ready to roll.
I have one in almost perfect condition
Congratulations on your impeccable work ...
Damn, I had one of them. I can only imagine what has happened to it since it was mine. Left all my toys at a day care before I moved out of state
you will miss them for ever i tell you that!
Most likely if they were metal they got scraped. To dangerous for the kids now days!
Good to hear. Wish I still had all of my matchbox and hot wheels. Had a small fortune saved up. Turned around one day when I moved out of my parents house and packed up all of my belongings and found out my mother gave them to my sister's son never to see them again!
Sunnyside Daycare, oh no!
I remember visiting my uncle Steve who owned a farm in Illinois and he had so.e old metal toy tractor and trucks in the barn I would play with. Toys were built to last back then! I've started a new collection of toy cars. They are the Johnny Lightning series and a few other brands.
That truck has had a good time in the sandbox
Mostly replacement parts...I recall the cargo bay exteriors being white.
I remember seeing that in the window of a U-Haul store in Texas in 1975. Mom bought it and I went home with it.
eBay has such parts of antique toys to sell, wonderful.
