Thank you for the sewalong - it was very useful. The fabric choice was definitely very beautiful, but for beginners it would be really useful if you could use a fabric that had a more defined right and wrong side, as I really struggled with some of the steps (for example I accidentally put the facing on the wrong way around and needed to unstitch it…. 😕) Great sewalong though!
I love following sew alongs, and I especially love this pattern! My only request with future videos is that the wrong/right sides of the fabric are easier to discern for the sew along video. I still very much appreciate the sew along and the fabric itself is beautiful and something I would wear
Thank you for this. Just had a mind blown moment seeing how you cut into the dart on the pattern to transfer the markings onto the fabric. So straightforward compared to my usual approach.
Thankyou for this video. I struggled to understand how to turn the yoke but with the video it was straight forward. Also never done plackets so a guide helped. I do learn better when I see it done so keep up the good work. A beautiful blouse which I am sure will be repeated in different fabrics.
Thank you for this superb sew along! Today I finished my green silk Patina Blouse! It is stunning! Even though I'm an experienced Sewist, I enjoyed and appreciated having this sew along. Thank you for the wonderful pattern and sew along.
You do the best sewalongs - the pace is great, it's easy to see what you're doing, and the little tips are very helpful. And they're free! I've paid for hour-long video tutorials before that weren't half as good, so thank you very much, Chelsea!
What a beautiful, handcrafted blouse and you look so pretty wearing it. Well done! I will strive to do as good a job sewing my next blouse as you did yours and your instructions will be at my side. Thanks so very much!
Thank you for this tutorial sew along I really like the pattern, I will certainly be buying this pattern, your instructions are so easy and clear to follow. 😊✂️🧵💕
Thank you for a great tutorial. I can’t imagine the work that goes into this. Beautiful fabric choice. All of the young ladies you used as models look fabulous. 💗
Hi Chelsea, did do the higher or lower neckline. It looks like the lower one to me. Beautiful blouse and I found the sewalong really useful, thank you.
Great instructional video however it is very confusing to tell which is the wrong or right side with this fabric. I did manage to make my first shirt but it would have been easier if the fabric had an obvious right and wrong side. Making my second blouse with the video but again very confused at vital points of construction. Love this blouse and will probably make several more. Thanks for video as being fairly new to sewing I’d never had managed it.
I love the blouse and the tutorial. My only problem is where the placket fastening ends up. It almost seems to be underneath the arm. Everything else is perfect but the button and buttonhole on the cuff do not seem to be in the same place as on other blouses I have made. Could you suggest what I might have done wrong. I cut the slash as per the pattern. Thank you.
I bought this pattern the moment it came out, and I made an emerald green version with a contrasting green gingham collar. I love it, and I love this pattern, but I am just wondering if I could make it without the collar, too? It would still be a beautiful blouse, and a little less of a statement, maybe? I could just omit the collar and use the facing, right?
@FridayPatternCompany I love this blouse and just purchased the paper pattern. I however have a concern, I am trying to cut out size extra large but the cutting lines are not clear enough where to cut as all the lines are so close together. The pattern pieces I can't seem to cut out are the facing (F) and Collar (E) Any suggestions? If I had purchased the PDF would it have given the option to just print the size needed? Please look into this and let me know what I can do as I really want to make it. I have been sewing for over 40 years so I am not a beginner but this has me baffled. I even asked three friends if they could see where I should be cutting and they couldn't see how.
That was a really good sew along! I’ve just gotten my pattern printed off and i’m about to start making it. Did you mention which neckline that was? I think it’s the lower one, but hopefully you’ll see this and reply 🤞🏼
This is a really good sew-a-long which for a beginner was easy to listen to but visually it would have been better if we could see what is the right side and wrong side of your fabric
Do you need to do the guide stitch along the facing and the hem? I haven't come across it before. Can you skip it and just press? Is it a better finish with or without? And if it's better with, what length? Thank you!
The guide is not entirely necessary but it is really helpful for getting a clean curve around the facing. It needs to be even since it will be edgestitched in place and you will see that on the face. If you skip it you're just pressing under 3/8" all around the facing.
@@FridayPatternCompany thank you for your reply! I have some of those ironable rulers so I was wondering if I can skip the guide, but your answer was very helpful thanks!
Hi! On the printed pattern cover on the website it says “confident beginner”- so it’s probably better suited for people who have made a few garments before. Imo, the button placket on the long sleeve might be tricky for a beginner, but you could still do the long sleeve and put on a normal cuff (without the placket)- or even put in elastic like in the Avenir Jumpsuit long sleeves. I don’t know if I’d recommend this as a first garment sew, but if it is your first garment and you’re determined, I say just take it one step at a time and take breaks. 😊 I also probably wouldn’t recommend making this as a beginner with slinky/silky/slippery fabric that will move around a lot on you- I think a more stable cotton would be the easiest to work with. (I mention this bc I’m currently sewing this with some more thin/slinky fabric than I’m used to and I have to be really careful lol.) I hope that’s helpful! 🫶
I'm really struggling with how to understitch, since when you do it, it's mostly off-camera. Do you have a better example of this somewhere? Totally stuck! :(
Hi! I’m not sure if there’s a better example of understitching in a Friday Pattern Company video, but Professor Pincushion recently (a few months ago) made a short video demonstrating understitching- if you just search “understitching” here on YT, it should be one of the first videos to pop up. If you haven’t already figured this out, I hope that can be helpful. You got this! 😊🫶
Hi! If you google “Friday pattern company patina blouse neckline”, the third or so link (after the links to buy the pattern) should be the blog post on their website with links to and instructions for the different neckline depths. The 1” deeper neckline is included with the pattern and the blog post has links to a 2” deeper neckline and a 1” shallower neckline. I hope that’s helpful! 🫶
Wd be easier to follow if u used plain clour and contrasting thread. If u cant wear it better to treat it as business expense and educational expense. The pattern price is heffty and should cover a batter sample. After all is a teaching aid

Thank you for this excellent tutorial.❤️
Thank you, would love to see the actual view of the stitching on the sewing machine, specially for the collar : )

Thank you so much. ☕💐♥️
Fabulous tutorial again Chelsea and such a pretty blouse 👌💝😁😘
I just made this up today in A beautiful black embossed Swiss cotton. Love the pattern , I’m dying to make it in a softer drapey fabric now .
Thank you for this tutorial sew along I really like the pattern, I will certainly be buying this pattern, your instructions are so easy and clear to follow. 😊✂️🧵💕
excellent tutorial!! Love the fabric and it looks great! Almost done with mine....a little terrified of buttonholes.....
thank you and you look terrific in your beautiful blouse!
Another fabulous instructional sew along!!!! Can’t wait to stitch mine up!

Beautiful blouse❤
Amazing tutorial I am glad I purchased this pattern cannot wait to make mine :) :) thankyou for sharing Great Pattern
Great sewalong. I’ve just bought the pattern and I’m really looking forward to making it up. Love your patterns.
Beautiful.
Beautiful sewing job!
Hi Chelsea, did do the higher or lower neckline. It looks like the lower one to me. Beautiful blouse and I found the sewalong really useful, thank you.
This is the standard neckline!
Thank you for doing this sew along but it is really hard to follow as it is really hard to see what is the right side and wrong side of the fabric

That is a great idea! You could totally do that! The instructions wouldn't change except just leaving off the collar.

Great sew a long
Love the tutorial and everything but being able to differentiate the right and wrong sides of the fabric would have been amazing T.T

What scissors do you use and favour please ? Xx
I like the brand Kai they are lighter weight but still pretty sharp!

Hi Chelsea! Are there plans to have the Patina in paper format?
Yes! Although I don't have a timeline yet because I need to find a new supplier for the pattern tissues.

I’ve watched the sleeve placket part a thousand times and still don’t understand it. This fabric was the wrong choice for a tutorial video!
