My criticism of gene keys...
A) The superstition:
1)It relies on the I ching, which is an ancient Chinese document. While it may be an intriguing piece of literature, there is nothing in it that a human could not have come up with even during those times. You may find Hindu scriptures equally intriguing, if not more. So I do not buy into the claim that it is from a divine source.
2) Human design combines astrology with I ching: Astrology is not real. People at those times could not have known more about astrophysics more than modern day astrophysicists. And according to them the stars do not affect you except for a minor gravitational force. The date of birth does not have a universal effect on your gene expression, that is silly. The factors affecting gene expression are the genes you inherit( you cannot express a gene that you have not inherited), epigenetic factors, environmental factors and maternal factors. A simple evidence to demonstrate that, is the existence of non identical twins. Non identical twins have the exact same date of birth and place of birth. Yet their genetics is very different and as a result so is their personality.
3) I ching apparently represents the human gene code: This is known as retro fitting. The I ching has nothing to do with the gene codes. It has 64 codes and that allowed Richard Rudd to add some additional information to make it seem that way. the original I ching document does not mention anything about genetics. Many people of various religions claim how their scriptures talk about multiverse and cosmology and what not. But the reality is that the scriptures are vague and do not make specific claims so it is possible to carry out mental acrobatics to make them seem like scientific documents. Same applies for I ching.
B) Wrong scientific information:
1) Each of the 64 codes of I ching represents a codon and if you have that codon you are likely to have certain psychological traits. This is very wrong. A codon codes for an amino acid. And it is wrong to say that an amino acid could influence your behavior a certain specific way. It is the kind of mistake that would cause you to fail high school biology. The same amino acid could have opposite effects on you depending on what protein it is a part of. Imagine this...I cannot say that chlorine atoms can harm your skin. It depends what is that chlorine atom a part of...If the chloride ions are a part of bleach, then yes it can harm your skin. But if it is a part of sodium chloride, table salt that is, then no, it won't harm your skin. Same logic for amino acids.These are facts by the way, not my opinion.
2) Building a false case for free will using genetic regulatory networks: The genetic regulatory network is controlled by transcription factors. The degree to which gene expression changes in response to environmental influences depend on these transcription factors, epigenetic factors and the biochemistry of the cells. And these factors are determined by the genes themselves. You do not have a conscious control over gene regulation. There is a wriggle room for the genes yes, but these wriggle room is determined by physical factors which you do not control. And yes, this gene regulation process can cause a re wiring of the neurons of your brain. It is not really a re wiring, the strength of the connections between neurons are changed. This process is called neural plasticity. And you do not have a conscious control over this process. It is happening to you now as you read this and learn new things. This process occurs in response to new firing patterns based on new stimulus. So you can expose yourself to a new physical environment or new ideas and hope this process takes place. But your consciousness does not control this process. You cannot know how and to what extent this modification of neurons is occurring. It is the same process as chess computer. A chess computer can learn new moves based on experience.And this learning process involves a re arrangement of the stored information, which is analogous to re wiring of neurons.But you are not going to argue that it has a free will. The computer is learning because it is programmed to learn and cannot exceed it's learning capacity that is pre determined by the programming. So Richard Rudd builds a false case for free will. We have a navigating capacity, yes, but it is analogous to the navigating capacity of a chess computer in a chess game. This navigating capacity and learning capacity does not prove free will. The absence of free will makes the feelings of pride and hate unjustified emotions. Plus it makes it easy for a person to forgive another person. It is liberating. So I do not see the need to build a false case for free will.
I feel that you are too weighted down by the Physical Realm and TRULY NEED more of The Stillness & Refinement of Transcendental Meditation so the Spiritual Realm May release your Higher BEing 2 connect the dots 4 Your Vision.
Please, don't mistake Me 4 wanting a discussion or debate.
