I really liked this film as well. Tar, May December and this are all incredible films that have been released within the last few years. But I have a more unconventional interpretation and reading of this film than most. the implication on the surface is that Emily receiving the promotion was just and the natural outcome of a performance-based workplace meritocracy, and Luke just acted out in a fit of misogynistic rage. what's funny though is that, if you granularly inspect the plot and dialogue, it's actually not obvious that Emily's promotion is entirely performance based. both of them appear to be equally competent at their jobs based on the events that actually happen in the movie (which of course they are; theyre just literal gamblers on the stock market with a 50% chance of winning or losing insofar as they arent basically trading on inside information), and there are strong implications that Emily was given the promotion for the psychosexual gratification of her boss. the only substantive difference seems to be that Luke is less risk-averse than Emily. so as opposed to being a purely girlboss movie, it simultaneously acknowledges workplace misogyny and the fact that females are very often not graded on a performance basis and are not interchangeable with men. I think it's almost anti-feminist in the way it affirms this recurring anthropological dynamic between the sexes
