  • Kane lake is one of our favorite backpacking destinations. The waterfalls this time were spectacular. You hike through a meadow, dense forest, rock fields, and at the end a pristine high mountain lake at 9,239 ft. surrounded by 11,000 foot peaks. The lake is located in the Pioneer Mountain Range.
We are Beata and Clint. We are a husband and wife that have embarked on a mission to capture the beauty of this little planet and to share it with you, in hopes of inspiring you to get out in nature, as we were inspired by others.
We enjoy day hiking, night hiking, backpacking, mountain biking day or night riding, rock hounding, skiing, snowshoeing, exploring, and photography.

This is absolutely my favorite hike I've found near where I live (Hailey, Idaho). I've hiked to Kane Lake every single year since 2015. I've been on a lot of different hikes in the area and this one just takes the cake for the most beautiful in my opinion. There's something so majestic about the waterfalls and views you get here. I love love love this lake.

Yes, we 100% agree! Just a perfect hike and a perfect place. Rivers, waterfalls, crystal clear, turquoise water, snow capped peaks, and lots of wildlife. Can’t wait to go again in 2024!

Very nicely done video that shows the extraordinary scenery. I am amazed to see that many cars at the trailhead. Back in the 1970s you might see 2-3 cars on occasion or more likely be the only visitors. The NE side of the lake didn't have as much bare ground and had much more vegetation. Love the pictures of the trout in the stream! Thanks!

Wow, that is so awesome that you had visited the lake that long ago! The early 2000’s were the first time we made it up there. The lake seemed about the same at that time, but there was a lot less visitors and the trail was much less developed. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for sharing!

@@beataclintadventures304 I used to camp in a meadow on the NE side near where you camped. The ground was soft enough to get a good nights sleep🙂. Once I dragged a 4X5 view camera and film holders loaded with Ekta chrome transparency film up there and got a great picture of the lake after an early September morning snowfall. Places like Kane Lake, Bruneau Canyon, Boise River, Silver City, Warm Lake, various hot springs, etc. were my escape from military life. Later in Boise met my dear wife but we moved away due to the price of real-estate.

Yes, we think it’s one of the most scenic places in Idaho, as it’s not really well known for backpacking and mostly used for day hiking. 😊

It’s a great area and the road isn’t too bad. It’s a little bumpy but no major obstacles. Mostly trucks and SUV’s at the trail head but at least 1 small passenger car made it.
