I watch "Band of brothers" every year June 6th. My dad served in W11. This is always a reminder of what war does to our veterans. I proudly fly the flag; grateful for all those serving and all those who fought and died for our freedoms. Thankfully my brother who served in Vietnam made it home.

For my Brothers In Arms, some lost in combat, some lost from just working in a dangerous profession. There is no race, color or creed that separates those who shed blood, sweat and tears under fire. I miss you. I pray we're worthy of your sacrifice.
Thanks for the video, well done.

My father served in Europe during WWII and in my 38 years before his passing he never once spoke of it. If you watch the intros to these episodes from Bands of Brothers there are interviews with actual soldiers that were there and you can see that the experiences still haunt them. I once worked for a man that was a B-52 Bomber Pilot . He was 22 years old at the time. I asked him if he ever had nightmares and he said yes. I made the mistake of asking him when he had his last one and he responded " last week"

Both of my grandfathers fought in WWII. It is my greatest shame that they both passed before I was old enough to understand their sacrifice and say thank you. I have worked alongside Veterans and I have never once met one who thought that war was a good thing, sometimes necessary perhaps, but never good. In my experience those who glorify war have never been near one. War is a horrible thing, a waste of lives. I am grateful for your service, and you are right, those who have never been tested should be grateful of that - I am. Hate the war, Respect the Warrior. Thank you.

    Daniel Elad from Israel wrote:
30 years have gone by, and this incredibly sensitive piece of art still moves me to tears. The minimal-yet-deep lyrics, the almost-whispered singing as if mourning a loved one, the crying guitar riffs that sting the heart in perfect contrast to the restrained singing, the church-like synth cords, the soft drumming and caressing bass line, and all this accompanied by one of the classiest animation-videos of all times. This is the ultimate lamentation on the sheer display of human stupidity which we call war

Every time I listen to this song, against any back ground or performed live, I am moved to my very soul by Mark Knopfler's haunting vocals, lyrics and searing guitar which all come together to capture the horror, the human sacrifice and even the goodness of the human spirit that emerge in a time of war, out in the middle of some unknown, never before seen field of battle. As someone who has made this journey myself, the tears come easily in hindsight. Raise your glass to the common foot soldier.

I don't know about the other viewers. But I consider Brothers In Arms one of Dire Straits' best songs ever. I get pretty emotional when I hear this tune and listen in on the lyrics. Throw in clips from the Brothers In Arms television series does make it more effective. Good for Canada for Remembrance Day and America for Veteran's Day.

And in the name of what is it all? Muslims climb into your country across the southern border? Or are they taking drugs, or are Muslim gangs getting in the way of your cities from living? May you find healing in body and soul and inner peace. Prayers also for all soldiers of all nations to return to their families and loved ones alive and healthy. Lastly prayers for peace, tolerance and love throughout our world so that wars are something of the past. Don't stop praying to our loving and merciful God, because if we stop that, all is lost. These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
    And always will be
    Some day you'll return to
    Your valleys and your farms
    And you'll no longer burn
    To be brothers in arms
    Through these fields of destruction
    Baptisms of fire
    I've witnessed your suffering
    As the battles raged higher
And though we were hurt so bad
    In the fear and alarm
    You did not desert me
    My brothers in arms
    There's so many different worlds
    So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones
Now the sun's gone to hell
    And the moon's riding high
    Let me bid you farewell
    Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line in your palm
    We're fools to make war
    On our brothers in arms

Love this song, even though it hurts to listen. Vietnam never bothered me, but I miss my brothers. War is a forge, and no man who has been untested will never truly know life.

What a fantastic song by Mark Knopfler. I actually drew massive inspiration from this song for my own film which is based within The Falklands War, which can be found on my channel. The song really helped me visualise what The Falklands War must have been like and enabled me vast amounts of creativity for the film. Without this song, the film would never have been made. Kudos to Mark for the inspiration 👍🏻

Scenes from Band of Brothers used in the video. Easy company is the company that met up with my Dad's unit. That poor 101st took a hell of a beating. Many heroes lost. My Dad was 358th Infantry 90 Division of Patton's 3rd Army. He was my hero and still is even though he's gone.

I have the most respect and admiration for those who put their lives in front of war or public safety. We all should be grateful. I also believe many wars have been fought for the wrong reasons. My grandparents lived the civil war in Spain (1936-1939 - Franco) and war probes that man can do the most horrible things against each other, yet the most compassionate things at the same time. We are still a very young species and we have yet to look at history to learn from our mistakes. Cooperation, not competition, ensures survival of species. We are one race, the human race. War should only be in museums. Peace

Hooaahh. I'm a former U.S. Army Cavalry Scout, and today, 22 Nov. 2017, happens to be the 50 year date my uncle (173rd Airborne) along with alot of his buddies, was KIA in Vietnam during the battles at and around Hill 875. This song, and especially Billy Joel's "Goodnight Saigon" get to me, everytime. God bless our warriors and their loved ones. I'm thankful such people still exist and step up in this shitty world. Scouts out.

We were all soldiers. Americans in Vietnam, Portuguese in Africa. I was in front of Mozambique, in a battalion of hunters. This music fills my heart for years, makes me fill my eyes with tears and brings me to the flower of my skin an immense longing for my youth lost in the four years I spent in the army. From the "high" of my 72 years I already only feel nostalgia and sadness. Sub-lieutenant militiaman of Battalion of Hunters 2894, Mozambique, 1969-1972.

+Hameed OskooE Interesting that you say "Golden Age". Growing up I was taught that "Golden Age" was 30s and 40s. Later the radio stations called "Golden Oldies" the 50s, then later as time passed was the 60s. As the years pass what is called "Golden" moves forwards. I dare say that someday folks will say 2015 was "Golden Oldies". ;-)

To all my brothers-in-arms, regardless of your uniform - "We are fools to wage war on our brothers-in-arms" - We who have worn the uniform know the band of brothers we form. And we who have worn the uniform know the horror and hell of war. "No one desires peace as much as the soldier, for he must pay the greatest penalty in war". To peace my brothers!

What hurts must is what's happening now in the U.S. and Europe and what the elites are doing to our countries . I think of how so many of the elites made and still make money from wars and have our heroes died for nothing?
