The french woman who said italian food.. Epic
mediteraneen food is one of the most hyped in france , it's the healthiest in the wolrd after all and one of the tastiest
Italian food is very popular in France, it's a mediterranean country as well.
i think Japanese food is considered healthier. Lots of fish and veggies and little to no dairy
I am from a mediterranean country and we have the most delicious and healthy dishes
I mean, to be fair.. isn't Italian food really popular everywhere in Europe? In Germany we eat mostly Italian dishes, since ours are a bit more on the heavier side and good for winter. And what we stole heavily from France is Onion soup!
Secret not so secret. Moderation, cook more often at home, exercise, vegetables, fruits, and healthy drinks like tea, water, coconut juice, or plain black coffee. Ain't so bad. They walk everywhere too.
And smoking.
French people love to make their own food (Young people are more likely to order Junk food though but they don't do it all the time, they'd still love to eat their mom's food)
And smoking
Haha two people said “and smoking”
coconut juice? ive never heard that. Orange juice is very healthy and also, you can drink a coffe with milk lmao not need for it to be plain black
my family is French and I notice that my portions are so much smaller than my friends in England so I'd say that French tip is that the people eat smaller portions
frog Yes I noticed that too when I lived in England and when I visited France. I thought French portions were TINY (probably why many are slim + in good shape).
Marley Barley they are tiny haha i eat such small portions at home that when i eat at my friends their portions look giant in comparison and i usually can’t finish them. what they do not have small portions of is wine and cheese, however
frog Haha true, there are so many courses you’d think the French would eat a lot...probably to save room for the cheese :P. My meals are double that of the French, yet I’m still slim.
Yes, they’re significantly larger in the US too. Sometimes 3 or 4x bigger, depending on the food item.
Same in Italy. Though they eat pasta in huge quantities (or did where I lived), meat, vegetables, and dessert are all cut paper thin. I also learned how to put lemon juice on everything instead of salt.
I went to Paris two years ago and lost 3 pounds by just walking around. My sister and I even climbed the steps of the Eiffel Tower up to the point where we were required to use the elevator. I enjoyed croissants, macaroons, and crepes and still lost weight. We observed many women biking, so I believe their lifestyle contributes tremendously to their lean bodies.
You forgot one things, Many people use public transport in paris.
The most important tip I'm surprised wasn't mentioned was the French eat much smaller portions. They don't deprive themselves, but eat a tiny bit.
French are not aware that US portions are HUGE, that's why they didn't mention it
Amal FETHI complètement vrai !
@@amalfethi1475 Like when that one woman advised viewers to eat salad - salads can go up to 1000 calories in the US, portions are crazy
@@mcmrvr8584 how?!!
i also think that they value food and mealtimes, so they eat slowly and with much more awareness
My stomachs full, but my taste buds want food.
that's why europeans have a cigarette/coffee/strong cheese/wine/etc after meals.
I dont know if this is true or not but my friend who studied abroad in France said when he had meals with his French host family, they would not ask if he is full yet, instead they would ask if he is no longer hungry. If this is somewhat true, I think it really says a lot about how values affect dietary cultures in different countries. These two different questions may carry a close meaning and intention, but the difference in wordings do have an impact on how people eat. Instead of feeling like you can finish the meal only when you are stuffed and full, you can intuitively tell when you are satisfied and no longer needs to eat more. Again, if it's true, that may explain why people in different countries have an easier time staying in shape than most Americans.
I'm french, and what your friend said is true ! I have never realised how "peculiar" this way of phrasing it was before now haha
Yea so interesting. There’s a difference between being full and not being hungry. This is a healthier way of wording it and thinking of it.
I love how at 0:05 it says diet secrets and the woman is smoking hahaha
Maya Miller lol yeah
Maya Miller then her friend told us to stop smoking hahahaha
I think she was tackling her friend a little, humor message to her
And it’s true, a lot of people think French are thin because they smoke, it is an hunger cutter, at least a bit, but it is no amazing secret.
The key of French thin size is to eat everything in small quantities : meat vegetables pasta fruits, “manger équilibré”, and not eating too fast.
in france , they learn about eating well since they are small so maybe that affects their future behaviors!
Maya Miller Because that’s their diet. They’re smoker nation, they smoke to eat less.
The French don’t put on weight for two reasons :
- portions: they have small portions of several things, just a little bit of everything and don’t feel frustrated.
- A lot of them smoke cigarettes. Cigarette makes them loose weight and has a real appetite-suppressant effect.
They seem so disciplined and down to earth, and of course very beautiful and classy.
You're spot on with the fruits and vegetables. Another thing is to eat slowly. A Frenchman in the 18th century once described the American eating lifestyle as "Gobble, gulp, and go." If there is anything I've hated about being American is that we always seem to be in a hurry to go somewhere else. I lived in Italy where everything seemed to be pasta in huge quantities. I learned to slow down and eat less. I didn't lose any weight, but I felt so much better.
You’re spot on with this. It’s so important to slow down and chew your food thoroughly. The first part of our digestive system is our mouths where the food is mechanically broken down. I’ve watched people swallow their food whole and I wonder, do they even get to taste it?
Yes something I always hated and noticed was being made fun of or pointed out that I ate slowly or was a slow eater or chewed a lot. It’s healthy!! Yet in the states it seems as weird or like a weakness?? Americans seem proud of eating too fast, or being unhealthy
as a french the first thing that surprised you when you are in a trip in usa is that the food is everywhere , everytime , americans seems to need to have something to eat at their disposal in any circumstance ( and of course this kind of food you can get everywhere is usually fatty food) . For french people food is basically for meals not for anytime. second thing is about soft drink , so much sweet drinks everywhere in HUGE quantity , you have almost a big bottle in a glass and you can ,in a lot of places, have others drinks freely as long as you want... having said that , i enjoyed my street hotdogs and my iced teas in unlimitted quantity and all the exotic junk food restaurant chains , shame on me 😂
Another thing: walk everywhere! No need for going to the gym if you just get urban with the city you live in! You discover the city and get your workout it while you’re at it!
the real secret is to be French

And smoke
Hahaha meilleur commentaire 😂
In France the most common drink option is water. I love it and especially because people don't judge anyone for it! It's so easy to forget abt other drinks unless of course a special occasion calls for some champagne :)
Je viens de Champagne (la région) et je peux t'assurer qu'ici le Champagne c'est comme de l'eau 😄
I thought that was the case every where haha not even from France. But when I watch American movies I see soda as an every day drink option, people having soda in their fridge daily...like a staple😅don''t know if that's true in reality.
I’m American. I only drink water and don’t have any other drinks in my fridge. Most people here think I’m weird for not having more drink options when they visit my apartment. “What do you have to drink?” “....water?” LOL I also don’t like coffee or tea 🤷🏼♀️
@@surlespasdondine That is very true. A lot of people here drink pop daily and have TONS of it stocked up in their pantries...
@@cait. wow😱
my friend who is french has told me they never really bought canned/premaid stuff, they appreciate vegetables and fresh ingredients, like mentioned in the video, and this often results to healthy food
Paris women have the best answer: less is more. Healthy eating leads to their beautiful skin and personalities. Merci! 💋💕
French women are slim because they do no eat processed food. Everything that they consume is fresh. Also true that they consume lots of fruits and veggies. They don't need to diet because they eat everything but in moderation.
Love such types of videos so much. So inspiring and atmospheric
So glad to hear this! Make sure you subscribe because we've got a lot more like this rolling out soon!
Fruits with breakfast, vegetables with lunch, fruit plat as afternoon snack and for dinner salad with vegetables and hummus.. Oh, a lot of water and a cup of green tea, my secret 🥰
I love this! Thank you for this series
0:47 I just love her style and vibe so much
Black coffee and cigarettes.
I vape and it actually makes me hungrier 😞
@@genevawelch9865
Try real cigarettes
literally
*ok but is nobody going to talk about how excessive smoking causes a lack of appetite?*
Veni Vidi Amavi this has been disproved it's just a myth :)
Veni Vidi Amavi that’s a stereotype
I think its true because instead of some snack which people like to eat in between meals , smokers have a cigarette instead. Also the reason why people who quit smoking often gain weight is because they substitute they cigarette cravings with food. Just my theory. I never tried a cigarette myself so can not prove it.
Liv. As an ex-smoker for me it was to in somehow fill my nicotine craving with something else and have something in my mouth (sounds strange I know🙃). But I wouldn’t say that my appetite changed necessarily. 🤷🏻♀️
Smoking actually made me feel hungrier
I love these short peppy get_to_know videos. Bring them more Bazaar team :-) The lady who said .."Stop smoking stop smoking because we do it too much.." had me ROFL
Soup. Also cheese and bread- French bread in France is made without sugar due to the countries laws. Takes longer to bake but is healthier.
wait what, other countries make bread with sugar in it?
@@ninalempicka2948 yess i was shocked that the irish supreme court even ruled subway’s bread to be classed as cake due to the amount of sugar lol, and even some bottled water companies put sugar in it especially in the us 😩
its amazing how their culture and vibe shine thru this video
Honestly the last secret which basically says no soda is actually the best of all those secret these ladies have shared with us in this video.
The reason for that is that soda water aswell as sparkling water has no calories at all of course, but it can be a reason why you are constantly feeling bloated and it can also cause cellulite- combined with many other bad habits such as smoking cigarettes, too much alcohol and many more.
Cellulite? From carbonation? How?
@@specteramber there are many studies about that topic, you just have to browse through the internet and you'll find some case studies and all the specific information for sure
French women are also very active. They must walk at least 20,000 steps a day. I lived in Paris so I should know. In the U.S., people are often a lot more sedentary. Another big secret, do not eat on the run. Always take 20 to 30 minutes to eat at a table.
drink a lot of water, eat a lot of vegetables + fruits, use a little animal milk product, little red meat, don't drink too much alcool, small main courses + small eating all along the day (yoghurt, carrots, almonds..)
And sometimes buy good pastries because no cakes and sugar is not fun at all and I have a sweet tooth ^^
Portion sizes in the US are outrageous! The quality of US food is MUCH much lower and EVERYTHING is filled with that appetite-inducing sugar! I struggle with insulin resistance, so sugar is like drugs to (someone like) me! I studied in the US for 6 months and was hungry ALL the time! I also lived on a tight budget so a healthy low carb diet was impossible to finance given my appetite and the quality of the foods... Americans also drive everywhere, while in Europe people ride bikes and walk much more! Not everyone is insulin resistant, but the many that are will become obese in the US!
Yes! I lived in the USA for a year and agree that the food is not as dense and filling as European food!
@Magali GIL most parents don’t want their children to walk to school in the US because of safety concerns
@Magali GIL yeah its a problem. My good friend who lives in Berlin was going places in the city and riding the metro alone at a pretty young age but in the States someone would send the cops after you if you let your kid do that because we’re all paranoid 🙄 I wish we would learn from European countries a bit more...
@Magali GIL I mean, maybe not really or not every time, but there have been a lot of stories in the news of parents letting their kids walk home from school alone or there was a dutch couple who left their baby in the pram out on the sidewalk (which I guess is customary in the Netherlands) while they went into a cafe, and someone called the police because they thought they were being neglectful 🙄

Watching a video about diet tips while eating a cookie “oh yeah, these are great tips. I feel healthier already”.
Oh for foreigners, learn how to make ratatouille, one of the best meals in France!! (from a French point of view!)
Too acidic 😦 personally speaking
do you have a great recipe for it?
Great video!
My best friend is from France and she said it's normal to take diet pills in France, but no one will talk about it publicly.
Fuck i just ate mcdonalds
The actual issue is not "what makes French food so healthy". There are way healthier eating habits in other parts of the planet. It's more "what's wrong the American diet".
avoid ready meals, take your time to cook unprocessed food, and of course exercise
Who tf have the time to take the time

Diet secret. They smoke.
In 2020, 40% of french people were overweighted or obese… quite a model to follow the buttery french gastronomy.
17.5% in France and 42.5% in USA. Why are you posting wrong information?
merci and on my way to france
If it’s packaged and has an ingredient list with ingredients that read like a chemistry textbook, probs not the best idea to eat. A slice of handmade chocolate cake is better than a slice of one from a chain supermarket 😊
So just eat your veg&fruit frink water & tea with no sugas, eat a lot of soups and keep the junk minimal..that is all
Lovely tips 😍! On my weight loss journey now that I’m documenting on my channel🤗! Wish me luck🙏🏿!
These women eat very little and drink black coffee all the time. It's quite different from the states where workout is popular and girls like to be fit.
American girls are NOT fit wtf
@@SRBOMBONICA86 maybe not ALL of them, but as someone who lives in France I would definitely say that there seems to be more of a "fitness culture" in USA than in France (EVEN with the obesity rates in US). French women may be skinny but moreso through tiny portions and copious coffee and cigarettes. They don't have a gym/exercise culture at all like in the USA. I guess they think they "don't need to"...
@@amakaa2393 I agree. French people don't have the "go to the gym" culture. Sport is practiced in clubs (biking clubs, running clubs, soccer clubs...) or people just go outside to bike, play tennis, hike... in the weekend.
We eat smaller portions and a lot of fruits and vegetables and i drink lemon water and green tea through out the day and sugar is a No No in my family
LOL they say fruits and veg, but having lived in Paris for a year as a vegeterian, my options were so limited. The staples of the french diet are dairy, bread, meat/seafood, mushrooms and wine.
One time when i was in paris i decided to go vegetarian for like 2 days and i couldn’t find shit lmaoooo
When did you go to Paris? Because I am vegan and I can tell you how easy it is to find restaurants that are vegan friendly. Same thing in supermarkets you find everything you dream about, there are shops that are specialized for us too. In all the big French cities you will find food for vegans. So next time you come to France...
@@animalrevenge1058 it’s very true that there are a lot of specialized stores and restaurants and the amount keeps growing every year. But if you walk into a random restaurant or bistro with your carnist friends and family your options will be very limited :(
@@xijinping1474 you are good for French fries and a salad I know! I personally don’t go to restos with carnists, I just can’t anymore...For vegetarians it’s easier, you’ll always find a pizza without meat or fish, instead you’ll have cheese. And lots of meals prepared with cheese so much easier.
Eat lots of veggies and fruits, they don't add up to much calories excluding starchy ones.
The French secret: buy a tiny Isabel Marant dress for 1000 euro and you become motivated to eat very little to fit into it. This also works with Christian Dior lol
I mostly prepare my meals at home. when you go to a restaurant the portions are huge and most of the time youll try to eat all of it because you paid for all of it. never understood why restaurants dont offer mini versions. I'd love to eat a mini kebab, mini pizza, mini sandwich etc.
The expensive ones do
Jersey Mike's has a mini sandwich option. And u can get a veggie sub mini if u want!
"STOP SMOKING, STOP. YOU KNOW IN FRANCE WE LOVE THE SMOKE."
Gets French citizenship apprehended the next day
I think she was saying this to her friend in the middle :P
I love French 😍
So beautiful : )
As I parisian and like many others there is no special diet. Just eat some vegetables and fruits it's basic , and a lot of French pastries.
A lot of people are walking, running a lot and for me there are the reasons to stay slim . Of course I don't talk about all the Parisian womens but a lot.
This is common knowledge, its universal.
Its the will of people, or lack of rather, that the French girls should be advising them on.
what do they know?
Sugar and things that turn to sugar (like bread and pasta) are things to limit or completely stop eating.
I love the girl that said stop smoking, if only French ppl would
I was so naturally thin when I was a smoker
Eat fruits and vegetables as she puffs away on the cigarettes. Hilarious.
France has a high rate of aneroxia
I think the issue is smoking, not anorexia. They smoke soooo much that they don't feel hungry, and, therefore, become really skinny.
There IS an anorexia problem in France though, whut o_o... In fact, there is even a law against anorexic models to apply to try to see if this epidemy stops (wich is fantastic btw - and usa ffs needs to make this happen; any country really).
All I know is that every single person I ever met/spoke to that went to france, uncluding myself and my entire family, couldn't handle the whole smoking thing in France, contrary to any other country we went (including usa - including damn Russia lmao). Everyone speaks about french smoking, is def a thing.
Then again, it may just be the culture of smoking anywhere (even in inside places - even waiters!!) that sets that idea to everyone (anyone _'civilized'_ anyway). And 18% of americans smoke contrary to 30% of french, so yeah usa smokes more but there is far more people and the places are far bigger (wich that alone helps even more, plus the culture of not smoking just about anywhere).
Either way, it's an issue. Smoking, drinking, eating, not eating a lot (that this even becomes clearly visible to anyone else) is a signal of self control issues that both your countries need to fix for sure (instead of pointing out wich one is the worse -_-). Blesssss
Dans la matin j'adore chocolat et thé avev citrons
It is true that Mediterranean genes play an important role (A large portion of Spaniards, French, Italian, Portuguese, Malta, North African people have good skin), but diet is indeed the biggest reason. You dont see fast food(or for that matter, a lot of fried and salty food) as part of French cuisine.
Her : "Stop smoking".
Friend : casually continues smoking.
Their real secret is portion size, the French eat a lot of high fat foods in small portions
And their love of cigarettes
and smoking a pack a day 🤣
They walk more than we do... We lead a very sedentary lifestyle here in America.. We use cars almost daily and when we get back home we binge on Mcdonalds or burger King... Its not that they are better than us . I personally love the United States , its just our lifestyles are a bit different.... I do believe though that with time and the increase of gyms around the United States that more and more people lead a healthier life because its just simply better.
Most people have a general idea of what they should be eating, but might be too lazy or ignorant on how to prepare food. It's really a matter of education and adopting certain habits. It's difficult for people who were raised on white bread, bologna, and pop tarts instead of healthy food, or perhaps had parents who cooked poorly (it's pretty easy to make vegetables unappetizing).
CIGARETTES IS THE SECRET
I didn't know the french eat i thiught all they did was smoke
LOL, I think you need to check your "facts". The link you put there to back you up did the exact opposite.. France is full of smokers and don't deny it, they aren't #2 for highest cancer rates for no reason........ Barely anyone smokes in the US anymore, because of rules, and its not deemed socially acceptable. Not all Americans eat a lot of crap also, stop using that stereotype that all Americans are fat. And at least we don't have our incomes robbed from us for lousy, socialist healthcare... But how can I blame you? French are the most arrogant in the world. Fact.
Honey, sorry if I offended you honestly. Neither of us are trash, I am just trying to state how public healthcare is really not the best:
Here in the US, we have insurance so it barely costs a cent depending on who you have. Meanwhile we still get to keep most of our paychecks (you have a choice to get healthcare or not, so if you don't- you save the money and lets hope never get ill) .
How is our system corrupt? Why would we want to pay for a healthcare from our income when we don't need it 24/7?
Im sorry but America is the best. Unlike other countries, we don't have to live in fear of civil wars between religious groups, corrupt governments (North Korea) , terrorist groups within the countries terrorizing their OWN people .
Please don't compare us with countries that want us dead.(basically most communist ones)
The reason universal healthcare system people think United States healthcare is bad:
You all agree our health care is terrible because poor people in European countries can live off of the government while here if you are poor you are POOR and have to find a way to survive. (even though our poor are considered rich in third world) ..... Yes, we have our shelters but we don't hand out "public" housing. You poor here? get a job, you poor in England etc. ? live off the hard working people.
Why should my paycheck from a job that I earned after going to Uni be paid to a drug addicted person leeching off of me?
I honestly feel sorry for you all. You sir, probably have a very nice job, yet as stated here most of your paychecks are taken for taxes. HMM what are these taxes used for? www.oecd.org/ctp/tax-policy/taxing-wages-20725124.htm healthcare! You should not have to pay for others when you have to pay for yourself already! you should be able to keep your hard earned money and do what you please (charities etc) #thankyouTRUMP.
Sorry that you felt the need to call me trash and double negate me! Imma stupid dumb!!, sorry If I offended you earlier. Frankly, I am too tired to read my first comments after your 100 page book of a one. Yes we will probably never agree, because we were both brought up in different countries thinking we are right (same as people brought up in different religions)
Hence both are somewhat arrogant. I do agree some Americans are IGnorant due to the fact that we only have Canada and (pretty unsafe to travel to) latin American countries. Meanwhile Europeans are surrounded by all the European countries and asian! very jealous of you! we are very patriotic so i see why we appear to be very... arrogant, however we just are not as cultured, which is not our fault (geography's and monetary). In all, nice chat with you! Sorry if I offended you, lets agree to disagree, and if I ever see your name on a video again fighting for something I agree with, I will back you up (:
Gracias,

doctrinamscio thanks for the stereotype that we are the most arrogant people in the world 🤔 Have you been to every single country to be able to compare? If keeping a distance with people, saying thank you constantly (probably more than in any other countries) is arrogant then we are definitely arrogant people. Maybe you are more used to people being outgoing. What is the norm for you might not be the norm for everyone and that's fine. We all act differently depending on the place we are from.

Don't diet should be the best advice.

You Can also speak to french man not only woman. In Paris, it IS very difficult to drive (not Many parking,). So Many people use bike or public transport.
Ou la marche selon le trajet !
Usually they drink and smoking and skipped dinner 😂
Really?
No haha (I'm french, most of my relatives and friends don't smoke and we NEVER skip dinner, I don't know a single soul who does that) (not saying this in a angry way or anything, all the comments are just very funny to me 😁)

i see
Eat well. Walk instead of drive and smoke tres bein.
Do not bother yourself with these tips! I have been living in the State for four years now! Before coming here I was a skinny girl and everyone kept telling me to eat more! and I have gained 20 Ibs now! Food companies put too much sugar in everything! it is just here that they add sugar in bread, milk, and tomato paste! fast foods in the USA is sweeter and more oily compare to Europe! Just make everything at home from scratch! even your bread! lol! and of course a city like Paris is walkable, compare to here that is car-based.
that’s your fault not U.S.’s fault. Plenty of fruits and vegetables available here. Not hard to stay fit and healthy as gyms and fitness culture is a big thing here. I buy canned vegetables and sauces that are either low sugar or no salt. You just have to read labels and put in the effort.
One min silence for those woman in the video who lied just for the camera 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is kind of weird, why does it have to be focused on ‘diet’ and not on something like health?
bc a lot of americans have shitty diets
Because diet IS health. Being skinny is a full-on lifestyle and it is extremely different from an unhealthy person's routine.
Well I guess it depends on the situation
I mean smoking does help lol
Smoking!!!
I feel so fat 😭😭😭
Secret is portion control
I don't get the stop smoking
fuck society's norms. everyone is beautiful
Јести кување сваки дан,колико је год могуће поготово варива,то је најздравије
I don't comment usually, but this video is the worst in term of self acceptance and cliches. I am French, I am 18, 1m 79 for 75 kg and I don't look like them at all, but you would probably say I'm the French stereotype. The thing I struggle the most with, here, is their choice of women. They give the idea that we are all skinny and under 35 years old. We do appear to be around 1m65, for 50 kg or less, and aware of a national secret that allows us to eat "patisseries" without gaining weight. The thing is we eat almost the same things than you do, and we do have a lot of junk food, obesity is rising, traditional cooking and self acceptance deseapear.
So don't take this women as examples, they are not. They are 15% of the french women. Eat what you want but don't destroy your mental health or your physical health. Sharpen your body accordingly to what your own beauty standards are and keep a balance. That's the only thing to remember and that is not a national secret. Come on, don't be cliche ! Be a real French woman !
Marianne AAA love this! Thanks for your comment!
I completely agree with you but as a french person, are you sure obesity is rising here? I'm pretty sure we're still doing well
Hey Choi Moon, I have just checked on Internet and our obesity rate is well expanding (www.obesite-sante.com/comprendre_l_obesite/obesite_et_surpoids/chiffres_de_l_obesite1.shtml , this seemed serious).
However, I guess we are still far from the US (check out this, quite interesting : t.co/0rAdWjng8N), so you're right, our rate seems to be less explosing !
My bad :)
I wonder how many smoke.
A lot. As an American it's crazy to see how many people still do and how publicly they're allowed to there since it's not allowed in pretty much any restaurants, bars, public places, etc. in America. It's like no one ever told them about lung cancer and emphysema there lol
