Mission Impossible: From the Time Capsule lol. We have watched all Mission Impossible movies over on our Patreon and we have even made them into one post for you because we love you! www.patreon.com/posts/mission-uncut-83150850?Link&
What I loved from M-I, was the comics aka The Ethan Hunt chronicles and video games that followed the first movie.
Director: Lets use CGI
Tom: I am CGI ( Cruise Going Insane)
😂😂😂
Jon Voight's character, Jim Phelps, was one of the main characters from the original TV show. The original actor turned down the role because he didn't like that they made him a traitor.
Peter Graves? Loved him in the 80’s show, I never saw the original show.
@@kaybaumann4989 Yeah Peter Graves was.offered the role. Haven't seen either version of the show.
Dang I didn’t even know there was a show
@@gaiusx287 The show is a classic and I seem to remember Leonard Nimoy being on it too.
Leonard Nimoy replaced Martin Landau as the "master of disguise" team member, when the producers refused Landau his requested salary increase.
23:58 Fun Fact: Because of weight distribution Tom kept hitting his head on the floor and needed to fill his shoes with coins to create the iconic hanging scene
That is a very fun fact! 😂 And one I've never heard before!
I also heard it helped with the height differences.
"Anime did it first" Sitting here thinking, "you know there was a whole ass tv show back in the 60's and 70's that this spawned off of right?"
Smh, they are ridiculous. Clueless!!
There was even a second show in the 80's.
I was looking for this comment. That was a TRUE head shaking moment. It’s almost shameful the ignorance lol I can only hope they were eventually educated.
Yup. The original Mission Impossible series, then the 1st season of Space 1999 did it too.
Usually, they know very little about everything
4:35 Ackchyually that montage is an homage to the MI tv show. The original MI show from the 1960s did that in every episode where during the opening credits they would show clips of the upcoming episode!
The scene at the restaurant was a clever way to showcase Cruise's running abilities. Regardless of what character he plays, he always delivers.
He's been running since 1981
Wow..... The Reel Rejects getting a copyright strike from humming the main theme is one of the silliest copyright strikes I've heard of.
That is quite the compliment to their humming ability!
They didn't hum it. They used "Tom Cruise" as the lyrics.
Tom. Tom. Tom Cruise.
Tom, Tom. Tom Cruise. etc.
@@TomVCunningham Still silly.
I know. I rolled my eyes at how pathetically petty this stuff is. So bad.
4:33 *Suraj:* _"Animes did it first."_ 🤔 I don't know *Suraj.* The _Mission Impossible_ TV show did it back in 1966.¹
··•●✺●•··
¹ ─ Full quote: _"That was a very anime intro, 'cause it showed sh!t that was gonna happen in the movie."_
That was very sad at how clueless he was there lol
"This is too stressful for me!"
Who wants to tell her about the rest of the franchise?! :D
"90s shlock"
Excuse me? 🤨
I love the normies in this reaction but someone please tell them that not trusting anyone and accusing everyone of being a traitor doesn't come off as them being smart..it's just them not trying to be fooled so they just say everyone is sus.
Vanessa Redgrave is a revelation. She steals every scene she’s in.
She's beautiful but she is not a good actress
One of the best movie based on a tv show ever.
That 5 gum meme was top-tier.
Incredible.
I wished they had done it again at the helicopter explosion xD
It was soo good that I expected an Axe Body Spray commercial to follow with the Nerd guy.
Sorry, Suraj, but Missional:Impossible the tv show predates anime by decades. Their opening credits always contained clips of the forthcoming episode. :)
The first Mission impossible is the reason why I never take people whosay MI is just a dumb goofy action movie with a bunch of gadgets seriously. That and rogue nation. Sure MI 2 went off the rails a little but this one is the most underrated and focuses on the spy craft/espionage side more than the action side.
Fun side note-despite having it in his posession multiple times, Ethan Hunt never fires his gun for the first movie.
As adaptations go, this totally nailed the cloak and dagger feel of the TV series, but it's been kinda left by the wayside as the franchise has gotten bigger. Also, the finale is of my fave set-pieces from the '90s, over the top and amazing.
I think the cloak and dagger aspect of the series has always been there.
Director, Brian De Palma, brought a noir feel to the first MI film . The sequels got slicker from MI:2 onwards as directors changed and budgets increased. The helicopter was still getting "towed" by the high speed train. I was lucky enough to see this in the cinema.
They're in the old studio, and that's how long ago they reacted to this movie, lol
"I don't love TOM CRUISE the person"
As if he gives a rat's ass 😅
I gladly accept this mission
The restaurant scene was practical effects. Cruise said he wasn't acting when he was running away from the explosion and water.
If you want a more grounded version of this movie, I cannot recommend Ronin (1998) enough. It has some of the best car chases ever committed to film, twists upon twists, and De Niro in his 90s action glory (plus more Jean Reno).
seconded
"Anime did it first" Really hope you're being sarcastic
lmao idk, he seemed VERY sure of himself when he said it.
you guys were hilarious in this! lol. and the editing was 👌
This movie was absolutely INCREDIBLE at the time in theaters. I remember jumping in my seat when Ethan lets go of the train to catch up to Phelps. Such a fantastic start to one of my favorite franchises. Although the next movie is one of those ones where things go a bit over the top and it's my least favorite in the franchise -- but that doesn't mean it's not FUN. This is the type of franchise that winds up getting better as they go.
The only person who doesn’t say he wants to be a spy is the fittest person to be one. Be careful of that guy😅.
It's funny how another train sequence become such a big part of the new movie, MI 7 - Kittrige is still there in more or less same capacity, Vanessa Redgrave's character is replaced by her daughter (played by Vanessa Kirby), action on the top of the train, Someone from Ethan's past comes back to haunt him, sleight of hands, face masks : just wonderful nods to the beginning of the franchise!
Mickey: (like robotic AOL) You've got... SpyMail.
Mickey, that cracked me up. 🤣
Rana: I wanna be a spy!
Also Rana: (during the final action scene) I can't handle the stress! This is too much! 😉
Me: Don't feel bad, Rana. I love the idea of spy stuff, but I'd crumble like banana bread as soon as things got insane. I'd have been sweating like crazy, hanging upside down. There'd have been no way for me to catch all the drops before the alarm sounded. 😆
I've never seen the TV show that this film series is based off of (before my time), but according to my aunts, the Jim character was a good guy on the TV show, so my aunts were really mad when they saw this first film and that they'd made Jim a bad guy. They refused to watch any more of the films because of that, lol. They were like, "You don't understand, the Jim from the TV show would NEVER have done that!" Since I'd never seen the show, it didn't bother me because the overall film is so fun, but they were offended. 😄
Suraj, I suppose it's like if show runners took a favorite good guy character of yours from LOST and made him a bad guy in the film version. Would you be mad? 😉
Mission Impossible was a television show before it was a movie series. I think from the 60s. It has nothing to do with Pierce Bronson's 007.
Came here looking for this. My mom said she watched this and The Fugitive TV shows. Mission Impossible was ground breaking because it had a mixed race cast and was a prime time show. Groundbreaking
Yea.
Cruise and his producer friend, Paula Wagner just wanted to make a film about it.
Not for competition with 007.
But just to adapt a classic show.
"Animes did it first..." Um.
Mission Impossible tv series 1066-1973
Damn! That's a long running show! 😂
1066? Same year as the battle of Hastings?
@@tiger1chu Yes. If you look on the tapestry you'll see a lit fuse running along the bottom of it.
I definitely agree.
Also M-I was actually 2 series.
The 2nd was a continuation of the original with old and new characters.
Ran for 2 seasons, 1988-1990.
That was my introduction to M-I and I had the NES game from Konami.
Who knew that 1066 would be the start of Mission Impossible AND William the Conqueror!
They are saying it's trying to emulate bond movies. Do they not know that it was a TV show?
This series is good from the start (except 2 lol) but it actually becomes incredible imo. Like, FF becomes "these movies are shit, but they're fun to watch at least", but i feel the MI movies become "these are fun to watch and also they're GENUINELY great fucking movies". It's the best action movie series imo.
Two had it's moments but it's definitely the weakest of the series.
@@chaost4544 MI2 felt like a spoof/parody of a spy movie. It felt like I was watching Austin Powers lol
2:26 nah bro, Mission Impossible evolves in a good way, they remain a franchise about spies and impossible missions!
F&F is just ridiculous...
Anime did it first? I doubt that. How much pre-1960's anime did he supposedly watch?
Nicely said haha
I'm pretty sure that Tom Cruise broke his ankle filming Mission Impossible Fallout, jumping between two buildings, he hits his right foot and you can see IN THE MOVIE it just inverts immediately and he limped away. Then it cut to a new shot from either, before the injury or after the heal.
I'm old enough to remember the tv show. The movie and Tom Cruise did a great job. An awesome franchise to begin.👍
I recommend Tom Cruise again in A Few Good Men.
One of my favorite action spy movie franchises!
Originally, Alan Silvestri, composer of Predator, MARVEL'S The Avengers, and Back To The Future, was hired by director Brian DePalma to compose the score for the film, but was fired after DePalma thought the score wasn't powerful enough, so Danny Elfman was hired instead.
Silvestri would later use his rejected score for the 1996 Schwarzenegger action adventure ERASER.
According to editor Paul Hirsch's recent memoirs, when Alan played the first notes of music for the Prague sequence Brian told Tom Cruise derisively "It sounds like 'The Song of the Volga Boatmen'. He never said anything to Silvestri for weeks and when he finally heard his score he wasn't happy and he was fired. They used a cue the movie DEAD PRESIDENTS as a temp track for the CIA break in. The composer was Danny Elfman and he was hired. DePalma went to Elfman's house every day for weeks as he wrote the score. Afterward he confided to Hirsch he had never worked so hard with a composer in his life. Hirsch replied if he had worked this way with Alan he would have written him a great score!
Elfman did Batman 1989 Batman Theme right?
This movie is awesome, great 90’s film and fantastic start to an awesome series
Emilio was awesome in Young Guns
Director : Lets USE CGI
Tom: I am CGI ( Cruise Going Insane )
Now that I re-watched this I just realized Czerny's "Find that's something important to him and you squeeze" line that Chris Evan's character, Lloyd, in The Gray Man said to find Six came exactly from this movie.
LOL ANIME DID IT FIRST? NOPE. MISSION IMPOSSIBLE THE SERIES DID IT FIRST.
it's awesome how this is an "old" spy movie but the twists and turns still feel fresh and unpredictable. the old-school spy gadgets are dated but actually in some ways more interesting now because of the retro feel. the vibe of the movie is great too.. it's got a decent amount of action, but also at times a brooding noir feel
Could someone explain to me why some of the comments are from a year ago?
My best guess is that this was originally uploaded last year as a Patreon exclusive and now it's being made public. Especially with some comments about Fallout being more recent, I think that's the case.
They explained it in the pinned comment. They've already seen all the movies. You just have to look at their hairstyles and the background to know this is an old reaction
Fun Fact: Emilo took this role unaccredited as a return favor to Tom Cruise for staring in his film Young Guns years earlier.
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but Suraj said that Mission Impossible copied some Anime by showing clips of the coming movie in the opening credits. That is wrong. The Mission Impossible TV show from the 1960’s (that the movies are based on) did that in every episode as the opening credits played. Watch a 1960’s episode and se for yourself.
i had to comment because the guy say anime did it first but actually Mission impossible been doing it since the 70 so before anime
I went to Prauge recently.
It’s sooooo beautiful! 😍😍😍😍
I highly HIGHLY recommend you take a visit there! 😊
It's pretty funny that you guys get most of the background information about the movie wrong
Just like most things on this channel, not surprised another thing was wrong
@@aj897 they say so many stupid and completely wrong things but it's still entertaining a lot of the times 😅
Lol Pat u seen this u ain't fooling nobody
Cruise didn’t break him knee or femur, he broke his ankle, but it’s impressive how certain you were. Lmfao Also, you all never learn to move your mics further away from your gobs, you literally scream into your mics and it’s too damn loud.
This was one of several tv series, created by Bruce Gellar.
Among the many iconic series of the 1960s Spy craze.
There was a continuation of the series in the late 1980s with characters from the original and newly added characters.
The theme by Lalo Scrifrin is so timeless with Intrigue and excitement.
Adam Clayton & Larry Mullen from the group, U2 did the new version for the 1st movie.
Tom Cruise in the mid-1990s officially became a producer.
Both Cruise and miss Paula Wagner formed a company.
Both were given the greenlight for the rights to make M:I as an movie.
This first film matches the tv series at almost perfect beat and Cruise becomes the consummate stunt performer we know him to be today.
As the tv series resurged back into reruns, Cruise definitely had a franchise and i couldn't wait for more of the impossible.
How dare you call a DePalma movie schlock.
Man, I'm getting old! I remember when I went to the movies all excited, especially because at the time I loved U2 and really wanted to see the version that Larry and Adam (drummer and bassist) did of the movie theme (it only appears in the end credits 😕).
One really cool thing to follow in these movies is the evolution of technology, from the early days of the internet to the changes in cell phones, from the older ones to today's smartphones.
I love this franchise!
I like that whole rip off facemask thing, I hope they use it and other movies 😉
When I think of the whole mission impossible franchise, I immediately think of this.
A crazy, knowingly over-the-top, but entertaining action movie
You guys are hilarious! Love the silly commentary. 😄 I saw this back around when it came out, as I was a teen in the 90s. It is easily one of my favorite movies of all time. The mystery, suspense and action was close to perfection for me. I wish someone would make more movies like this. Loved how you guys were screaming at the end. I was laughing so hard, like: "Oh, what's the matter guys? It's JUST a 90s movie, right?" 😁
Max is one of my favourite bad guys, Vanessa Redgrave is just so cool!
The entire franchise starts in the 1960s, tho. :P
Just don't judge the series by MI2. This is the only series I know of that gets 100x better after the second one
Remember that IMF is a 3rd party contractor. That's why they can accept or deny missions and don't have to go to a CIA briefing room. This is also why the government can so easily throw IMF under the bus if there is a failure, like Blackwater in real life
ARE YALL NOT WATCHING ANY OF THE WALKING DEAD SPIN OFFS, NEGAN'S IS OUT, DARYLS IS COMING THIS YEAR
Trivia - the iconic theme song is based on the morse code for M and I
I saw this when I was way too young. I remember the dude died on the elevator but my brain blocked out that fact that they show his face being smashed in.
My FAVORITE franchise. I’m so pumped y’all are watching this!!!
Except 2, I pretend that one doesn’t exist 😅
I still have the N64 game. Good Memories.
Since you guys were talking about James Bond in the intro, is there any chance that The Normies could react to the entire 007 franchise?
That is a crazy number of movies....
@35:40 that’s Bollywood right there😂.
Tom hired De Palma, and the rest is history.
1.4K Thumbs Up + Mine! 👍 You're welcome! Thanks! 😊
Notes: I just realized that I miss seeing and hearing your black cat during the closing credits. 😢
Rana, as the only female present, with that set of guys, is a different vibe, from the other combinations.
Cute outfit! But, are those butterflies, moths, seashells, peacocks, or hand fan patterns? 🤔
Born in 1990?! Rana, were only 6 when the movie came out?! 🤯
Normirs, I haven't seen any of the movies since they were new in movie theaters. 😕 I've been hoping to have either a new group of friends like I used to have back then, or a family of my own, to do rewatches with. So far, no such luck. So thanks for watching it! But it is a very strange experience to me to hear people of your generation refer to the 1990s that way! I was in my 20s & 30s. I'm 58 now. 😮
Hey! I was able to see the 1960s original series when it was new as well as the 1980s series. "MeTV" shows the original series. Juliet Landau, who is "Druscilla", her parents co-starred in the original series before moving on to co-star in "Space: 1999"! "Google" just had to show me how old even she looks now! To me she's forever young because of the "Buffyverse"!
Okay, so anyway, at the time, original series fans, some of them were very angry 😠 at how the movie portrayed Peter Graves' character!
It's annoying how you feel the need to clarify your feelings about actor Tom Cruise. 🙄 What about other churches with a bad record? 🤔
One of my former "Pizza Hut" managers has stunt man credits, because apparently just riding a motorcycle counts as a stunt! In one of Dana Carvey's movies, David Bell, is one of the men at the row of urinals. He's in a movie with actress Shawnee Smith. The last time that I saw him, was when he and his wife were talk show guests, seeking help for their marriage. She had committed adultry! I mention him, just to point out that not every "stunt" is dangerous! 😁
That's all I guess. 🤔
Bob Marley Bio-pic trailer reaction soon?
May I just apologize for the atrocity that is Mission: Impossible 2. Glad to hear you had the gall to keep going after that one.
Mi2 was good action film
I'd honestly rather watch a reaction to two than 3. 2 is so goofy over the top it's a great movie to make fun of. 3 is just pretty boring. Philip Seymour Hoffman is is great but it doesn't have a fun ending it's pretty boring throughout.
I’m beginning to think the missions are possible
Far and away the best of the franchise
12:47 Neck cracks 😂 😮
The second someone feels they have to apologize for being a fan on Tom Cruise, I’m out!!
Totally unnecessary and only done due to cowardice and perceived social pressure in the mind of that coward.
I do hope you check out the TV show as well. It's not action like the movies but more spy thriller I guess is the best way I can describe it.
It's funny y'all say it's Home Alone music because Home Alone 3 was a serious spy Thriller for the first 10 minutes
It’s so great when all the stunts become super real in Mi:4 and they leave the green screens behind. And in the most recent Mi movie that’s about to come out they actually fight on top of a real train moving 60mph.
Damn, Suraj manifested Jack's death
[excited Rana noises]
This movie came out 6 to 7 months after "Goldeneye".
Also, congratulations for having the brains to immediately realizing that Ethan was pretending to believe Phelps. In the 28 years since the movie's release, most have complained that the movie's plot was confusing.
Jim was a character and the leader in the Original 60's and 80's TV show they tried getting the original actor but he refused to come onto the movie as he believed Jim Phelps would never betray his team.
In the original script the Team that Dies was originally going to be every member from the original TV show only for them to all decline. Instead, the actual film uses all famous Films stars of the 1990's Like Emilio Estevez and Kirsten Scott Thomas and the girl that played Sarah was in a lot of things in the 90's
Tom Cruise started doing his own stunts from Mission: Impossible 2 onwards.
"Kittridge, you've never seen me very upset."
That's an all-timer line delivery 😤
*MI Dead Reckoning Trailer Spoiler*
Can't wait for Hunt and Kittridge to meet again!!
13:10
"How am I gonna stop some slimy treacherous mother-hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous new bee-hind? The answer? Use gum. And if that don't work? Use more gum"
OH MY GOD
I've never noticed that the begining of this movie takes place in Kyiv 😮.
3:40 Rana, one love ❤️. Thank you, you're my favourite Normie! ❤
Oh I’m so excited for this journey! M.I. Is fantastic
You guys are lost, MIP was first a TV series before bond. Try looking for that series to watch
Tom Cruise is quoted, stating the the movie was not intended to have sequels. He also said that if he had known, he would have refused to do the movie if they had killed off Emilio Estevez's character.
I thought Tom broke his forearm in that scene not his knee but maybe I’m wrong. Tom Cruise as a stuntman is like a mythical creature…there’s so many tales of things he has done.
I feel like Cruise would be like Jackie Chan with less skill if they'd let him. He seems down to take some Knocks.
I remember it being his ankle, cause I feel like remembering watching is ankle flipflopping like rubber when he hit the roof jump badly.
@@SantosAl That was Mission Impossible: Fallout, the sixth film in the franchise. The rooftop jump.
"It's axe body spray" I love Rana's disapproving headshake on that
I love this movie so much. It’s so different from the rest of the mi movies, but in a good way, I love the desperation you can feel in Ethan , the sheer paranoia
Even in the 90s watching this movie, you were like, "Uh, that's not how email works."
Best action franchise
