My cousin, who is a golf pro, topped his tee shot 100 yards off the first tee on his stag do, in front of about 30 of his mates, most of whom were also pros. He said he had never been as nervous on a first tee in his life. He also hit his 2nd shot to 6 inches and made birdie, somewhat redeeming himself!😂
I’ve watched this hole at least fifty times. It wasn’t until just now that “worse than most” registered with me. That is freaking hilarious. I’m as big a fan of Bryson as there is, but that’s spectacularly good.

What is going on... you modified your setup without even knowing it and it got in your head. I'm sure he figured this out, but damn...it's so easy to do. Glad they show these videos. You could also see him moving off his axis (chest/spine) quite a bit. Tends to happen when you line up too closed.

I've seen ball flight like that when a ball breaks or cracks. It happened to me off the tee and the ball only went about half as far as it should have and dove left. I hit it again and it went way right. Upon the third strike the ball literally broke into two pieces in the air. That's when I knew I'd broken it off the tee. I think If Bryson would have found that ball, or if someone has since found it, I bet it's cracked.
With how hard he hits it, there would be no surprise if his ball cracked, but on the face on angle you can see that he hits the ball straight into the ground, and I think thats why it went so short
@@rfc157 If you think about it, if the ball did break it would break in the front where it's being stretched the most. The crack would open, the ball gets bigger and catches the ground. I've hit about 5 or 6 balls that broke and they all did weird stuff like that one did and we all looked at each other just like he did because the ball speed vs impact is just wildly off and you know something is wrong.
That would make sense for a surlyn ball but he's deffinetly playing a urethane ball. Urethane has a way higher tolerance to being stretched and compressed then hard plastic surlyn
Ever notice that Bryson's shit shots are always the club's fault? Slow motion clearly shows he topped that three wood. Apparently he said his four iron was cracked as well. Bullshit. When you swing that hard and go into a funk....your ball does crazy things.

It’s different to early extension which causes a player to appear to be upright at impact due to the hips thrusting towards the ball, which is very common in amateurs who struggle to rotate properly. His hands were out of sync with his body here; just like the commentators said, his body said he was going to keep it low but the hands just weren’t on the same page. He certainly didn’t ‘stand up’ in his downswing. His upper and lower body are open at impact, his timing was just off. Happens to everyone though.

@@touristguy87 New to golf I see. A drive is a ball hit off the tee, no matter which club it is. You can drive off the tee with a 3 iron or 3 wood for instance. Some players even have driving irons. An iron specifically made for driving the ball & very hard to use from the fairway. Those aren't drivers, they're an iron. A drive is the type of shot. Its not club specific. I've seen people use 7 iron out of the bunker, putt with a lob wedge & use putter from 100 yards away from the flag. Its a type of shot, its not restricted to one particular club A driver is also a wood by the way. It is a 1 wood. Hope that clears it up

I'm not sure why they're so amazed. I tend to hit this same shot about 6 times per hole.
It's very rare to see two pros in the final group literally duff their shots like this. Tom Kite famously shanked one even worse than this.
