I am from Czechia and I have to say, I was never ever ashamed of my country, language, culture, ethnicity, nationality, its people or landscape etc. Quite the oppossite. Of course, there are cons but I see way more pros here. And Romania is also great country. Beautiful nature, pleasant climate, lovely language similar to Latin and it is going up economically. Together with Poland it is gonna be influential leader in Europe in 20 - 30 years.
Culture and nationality are not quite the same thing. Being from the US there isn't really a unified nationality or culture. What's great is to look at what your culture is doing right and be proud of that and look at what other cultures are doing right and figure out how to income that into your own culture. This i think is what it means to be human. Sharing and learning from others.
Very Intelligent way to look at it. No one is to blame for what blood they have running in their veins. And, of course, no one should be ashamed of it. But the media and society in general, with their more often than not, false ideas of other races or nationalities, have an unfortunately high influence, especially on youth. For example, I have several young friends on Facebook( from the community where I live), who are, well, brown in skin color, but enjoy using filters to make themselves look white. But I have never known any young white friends who use filters to make themselves look brown! In my own opinion, brown people are some of the most beautiful people on earth, but that certainly doesn't take anything away from the beauty that God gave to white people. But why do my friends do that? I am an old man, and I just can't figure it out!
this is one of the hardest things for me, I guess that not liking my own culture is the reason why I'm so obsessed with language learning
