G'day Rory. Good video on REX. So I'm a commercial pilot ( all be it's not my full-time gig ) So June last year I changed from V/A to Rex for my business flying between Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane & have not looked back. Rex's customer service is so far in front of the all others its incredible. In 12 months I've flown 12 sectors with Rex & have never had a problem. As a serious aviation enthusiast I always get 14A over the wing. I've got to know a lot of the on board crew. The only aircraft I have not been on is the one you flew to Perth on, the ex silk air. The only route that I continue to fly V/A on is Melbourne - Newcastle. I used to fly with Ansett, then Q when they were destroyed, then changed to V/A when they became a full service Airline but since they went bust in my aviation opinion they are no where near the service quality of Rex. We need to get on board and support Rex to keep the others honest. I've never flown with Jet Star & never will I'd rather walk, drive or catch a bus or train. Keep up the great work & keep flying & supporting Rex. 😊 Rgs Wayne.
Hi Wayne! Thank you for watching the video! I do agree that the Rex crew are absolutely the best! They’re super enthusiastic and friendly. I wish them all the best hope they continue to grow and open up more routes!
Hey Rory just wanted to say thanks amazing video, honestly I’m so happy for Rex airlines for finally doing the Perth route which was dominated by Qantas and virgin hopefully prices can go down and soon Rex can fly from Sydney to Perth soon
Awesome review Rory! This video brings me back to 2021 when I first found your channel, in particular the video on REX’s inaugural flight from Sydney to Melbourne. I think REX flying to Perth is great, as flying east to west in Australia is so expensive.
I hope Rex does well on this route. Wonderful review of the inaugural flight from MEL! Your blogs are relaxing and informative, great viewing in general.
I think Rex business is an excellent product for those who aren't regular business travellers. Anyone accustomed to the Qantas and Virgin products probably won't think much of it, but as someone who has done neither I thought the humble lounge in Melbourne was sufficient (e.g. being able to relax in a very quiet lounge compared with a bustling food court makes such a big difference if it doesn't have hot food or alcohol in the morning) and the comfort and service onboard was great. I'm a fussy sleeper and I was able to get some Z's on their seats, and so even for that it's worth a bid upgrade if you can get it at the lower end of the scale.
Hi Rory 👋 I really enjoyed this review, and I fly with Rex on the rare occasions that I need to fly. I have left comments on previous videos, but for some reason, they are not in the comments. I have been having this problem with other channels as well, and I can't seem to fix it. Excellent video Rory, well done 👏 👍
The economy passengers only got two snacks, similar to the snack I got from Canberra to Melbourne. The BOB menu only has drinks, no food. I think this is something Rex needs to improve on because it’s a pretty long flight and the snacks aren’t substantial enough.
Good video, mate. I won a bid on VA to upgrade to business. Cost me $120 per head but we got the VA lounge at BNE which would’ve cost $130 for us both. I think Rex might need to rethink the entry criteria to their lounge.
I guess the potential issue with letting bid upgraders into the lounge is that it might not be good value for the business. I was able to upgrade SYD-MEL for the minimum ($45) and would have consumed that in beer and food if I had lounge access on top of that!
Great review Rory! I don’t think I’d pay nearly $1000 for business class on Rex. Smart idea bidding up for it. Competition is always welcomed and let’s hope Rex doesn’t go the way of Bonza. I live in Melbourne and despite travelling around the world I’ve never been to Canberra or Perth. Might have to try Rex
Edit: That would have to be one of the shortest served routes in Australian aviation history. Looks like a decent service, with wifi and streaming (despite not working that time) though a shame about the lack of USB in this day and age. I’m still a little sore with Rex for pulling out of Whyalla where I own a property so it might be a while longer before I fly them again. They also seem happy to suspend regional routes as they launch new inter-capital jet routes.
G’day Rory! I met you years ago when you where going on the Indian pacific, and I haven’t watched your videos since because it’s plane content, I’ve recently gotten info planes and I am REALLY, REALLY enjoying it, Rex offer a good solid service, I recon an Embraer or A320 would do them good, as they are very good planes, very enjoyed this video, if I could request maybe one day you could see if you have any 747 Reviews! Great video Rory!
Rex also owns National Jet Express, and they’re flying Perth Adelaide and Brisbane Cairns on an Embraer 190 for Rex. I would love to fly on a 747 again one day! I’ll see what I can do Thanks 😁
As I live in Perth, I was interested to see what the Rex offering would be but the fares have been disappointing. I don’t know how they can justify higher fares from Perth to Melbourne.
I don’t think paying 6 dollars for a seat is too bad , tonnes of international full service carrier does that same. Obviously free is the best but that’s how airlines try to squeeze as much money these days out of consumers Just a matter of time before Rex flies SYD-PER and add more frequencies on the existing routes.
I actually paid the $6, and picked a window seat at the back of the plane, which would’ve given me great views of Canberra city and the snowy mountains during the flight to Melbourne. But I ended up being reassigned to a different seat at the gate. As you can see in the video, the view from my new seat was mostly blocked by the wing. I wasn’t very happy about it. 😅 They were supposed to get their 11th aircraft by the end of this month. I have a feeling they’re waiting for that aircraft to arrive to launch the SYD-PER route.
All very fascinating. I may have to give Rex a go one day! I reckon people will be attracted to them because with Qantas as woke as they are, and Virgin overseas-owned, they will want to fly with a home-grown friendly face😊
Sad that this opportunity is now history if a miracle was to happen and the receiver could wrangle 2x 737 to do Melb Syd Per would be a an unlikely miracle but one lives in hope Giventhat Max & Jim Hazelton were my instructors friends and valued mentors this is a sad day for me
It's a very, very, very long walk from Rex's Gates to Terminal 2 and if you want a seat, arrive early as all the FiFo's take them. I've flown Rex's Saabs' many times, and they are the loudest, bone jarring flights I've ever had. 50 minutes is hell. The whole design of Terminal 2 is atrocious, especially if you have a disability. The taxi rank is located in the adjoining suburb. Wear your hiking boots and ski-poles.
Nice review, Rory. Rex is in my mix of airlines, along with Virgin. Basically I refuse to give any more money to that overpriced and underwhelming woke airline known as Qantas.
Thank youfor this Rory as a resident in Perth Stay happy and well some new routes soon into and out of Per
VH-8JS, yep I've flown on it .... with SilkAir in the past.

I always really enjoy your videos. Great production and I always learn a lot!!

Great Review of Rex's new flight - And Capt Phil Bunder is one of the best - he was a 777 Captain for VA!!

Never flown Rex. Now considering it. Thank you for the review. And how's those new fans at the airport
Try it you'll never look back I changed from V/A to Rex & now fly Rex everywhere possible.
You should I did many times, the best.
I did Rex Brisbane to Sydney recently and previously Adelaide to Melbourne. Excellent
Awesome review
Thank you 😊

@@RoryDing You're very welcome 👍
I really hope rex continue to do well.
What was the load factor like on that flight Rory? Thanks
I think it was probably 70-80% full! 😊
I fly with them a lot, nice crew, no BS woke welcome to country #QANTAS,
Great review Rory. So pleased to see the combustible card board being used for meals
😊
Onya Rory! We use Rex regional a few times a year and always have experienced excellent cabin crew also.
For the longer flight did Economy get a meal or just a standard snack or BOB options avail ?
The economy passengers only got two snacks, similar to the snack I got from Canberra to Melbourne. The BOB menu only has drinks, no food. I think this is something Rex needs to improve on because it’s a pretty long flight and the snacks aren’t substantial enough.

I just took a look at the Rex site not bad for the price I guess. I found this review enjoyable. 😊
Thank you
Their launch price was $299 which I found expensive.
But their current price of $199 is pretty good 😊
Enjoyable video as always!
Wonderful video

Sometimes airlines like to keep to one brand of plane.
Why did you stop at Perth Airport? Or is the train from Perth Airlines to Perth city your next video?
As I live in Perth, I was interested to see what the Rex offering would be but the fares have been disappointing. I don’t know how they can justify higher fares from Perth to Melbourne.

@@RoryDing I can’t wait honestly I usually fly on the a330 to
Perth from Sydney it’s so expensive 😬
I would have liked to listen to all of the captains welcome announcement
Don’t forget Brisbane Airport
Oh no! I can’t believe I forgot to mention it! My apologies!!
Thank you
Why don't you mention any of the flight costs?
What do you do for work?
I flew Rex SYD>BNE they were good.
Intetrsting flight report 👍✈️🇷🇺
Thank you!
Do they serve beer for business class passengers?
They do serve beer and wine in business class for free 😊
All very fascinating. I may have to give Rex a go one day!
I reckon people will be attracted to them because with Qantas as woke as they are, and Virgin overseas-owned, they will want to fly with a home-grown friendly face😊
Why is everyone describing Qantas as “woke”?
All this Acknowledgement of Country BS before EVERY flight... plus championing every leftie cause. This is why I avoid Qantas like the plague!
Boa viagem ai de avião rosy
You had better get that eye checked Rory...
otherwise a great flight review once again
The eye was due to an injury 2 weeks ago, it has been checked by 3 doctors, it’s all good
Thanks 😊

Me too
Last time I flew Qantas I nearly vomited up the vile cup of tea they offered me. Disgusting. Haven’t travelled with them for a few years now
Why do you consider Qantas “woke”?
What is "woke"?
lol Shaun you be complaining about white people then go on about Qantas being woke? lol Asians.. always lacking self awareness
