Charlene leaving and Alison taking Susan's place was the beginning of the end for me. Alison was just so unlikeable. It got a little better after BJ took Alison's place, but it was too little too late.
100%! The show's last few seasons were just sad--they had some great moments--but without the whole original cast, it wasn't really Designing Women anymore.
Ugh, that line from Dolly about holding Charlenes hand when its her time to go just reignited guilt that i have. I lost my mom last year at home and i was with her calling and yelling for her to stay with me until the ambulance came. Due to how little room there was between her and the counter i couldnt knell next to her and the window was on an angle to the driveway. I was with her true but i missed the opportunity to hold her hand. It make me cry just thinking about it.
@@leif1075 I still miss her, she was my best friend and I would talk to her about everything. I can only say so much with my stepdad but he is stepping up. I had a pulmonary embolism and spent 4 days in ICU in January and was really wishing she was there. And I'm still trying to adjust to doing things on my own. So I'm still holding in there.
Jean Smart and Kim Zimmer had that chemistry just like Jean’s chemistry with the rest of the cast. I love Charlene seeing Reva Shayne even though Kim wasn’t playing Reva!!!!
What were they THINKING replacing Jean Smart and Delta Burke with Jan Hooks (which I could handle) and Julia Duffy??? No wonder the show crashed and burned.
My problem with Jan Hooks’ character was that she was Charlene’s sister, but I don’t recall Charlene mentioning her when she mentioned her other sisters’ names during the first five seasons
January 1, 1991 was the 1st day of the last decade of the 20th century. The 21st century began on 01/01/2001! There is no year 0BC or AD0 on the Julian Calendar! It went from 12/31/01BC to 01/01/AD01.
Mason was not fat, I never understood the deal of it. Charlene was not bikini slender, and yet she seems to be against his weight? The show shoulda ended after Charlene left. She, Anthony, and Mary Jo were the funny ones.
Talking about weight... This show came out when I was a small child...My dad always talked about how fat Delta Burke was. He said she was so pretty for a fat lady. No wonder I have body image issues... She must weigh...what? 135?
She wasn’t really fat though. Yes, she had added some weight since the show started, but everyone always made it sound like she had turned into a human version of Noelle The Pig, which was not the case
Jean Smart one of the best actors of our times, great in both comedy and drama and one of the few kind and good people in showbiz.
Jean Smart was awesome in the movie.. Sweet Home Alabama.. ❤🎉😊

Agree!
So true!!
The could have kept going with BJ! She was a phenomenal edition
I totally agree. I stopped watching it after that.

Charlene helping her abused friend is my favorite moment. Such great acting.
The safest place for ‘Mavis’, her unborn baby, and her three daughters was at Bill and Charlene’s house.
Please put full episodes of Designing Women up!
Hulu
I really miss this show and these lovely women
Jean is on a show called Hacks on HBO Max . It's awesome!!
And Anthony!
Jean Smart still has a great career going. I hope there is another season of "Hacks" soon, now that the writers' strike is over.
There will be.

You held and continue hold your mom your heart so.she can rest in peacefully in HEAVEN 😇.
How have you coped since then if I may ask?

I saw her in person on a talk show, in Hollywood back in the late 80’s
And she’s a very lovely lady and an incredible actress too !!!
Jean Smart and Kim Zimmer had that chemistry just like Jean’s chemistry with the rest of the cast.

Charlene’s laugh in the beginning. Ha!
The HAIR!!!
Bill and Charlene make a great couple and when baby Olivia came along they made a beautiful family.
I really hated it when Jean Smart and Delta Burke left. It just wasn't the same after that.

Jean Smart left the show on her own accord wanted to do other things, it was Delta Burke who was either fired or forced to leave
Oh wooooh ! I just love Jean Smart I have since I first saw her in High Society it was brilliant show wish they would replay it …..🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️
“We’re not talking about the Lord. We’re talking about rug shampoo.” 😂
“She sobbed when I ate the last of the Froot Loops!” 😂
Gee, Olivia would be in her thirties by now.
REALLY, best of Charlene has less then 19 minutes
No, there are way more moments. This is subjective, of course. But still a good list.
I love the Bob Cole ghost show.
Dolly Parton was awesome too 😍
Mason is really not fat, I don't think. He looks kinda like John Candy facially.
"She was the the type of woman who would've dated Lee Harvey Oswald in high school."

The clip when Charlene was talking about joint that MLM, Lady June kind of reminded me of Shannan Watts and her irriating Thrive pitching!
My take-away. That was Jan Hooks y'all!!--"I hope you get it". 😘🖤👏🏽 Does anyone remember her insanely brilliant take of Bette Davis on SNL?

Beautiful scene from the domestic abuse episode.
‘Charlene’ acts like living in a haunted house is no big deal.
It’s interesting by today’s standards Mason isn’t extraordinarily large.

Tell your dAddy Delta is fabulous either way❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Mary Jo said spiel, but it’s actually shpiel. ☺️
Adding S6!? THis DID NOT show Charlene welll... this showed, the downfall of DW.
