  • Attention Adventures,
This epic event to the Wild Wild West Fork National Scenic Bikeway is an epic 5 Star experience!
This travel destination will satisfy many types of people with different interests, from hiking to biking, families with children to fisherman, explorers and rock climbers. There is deep canyons to explore, and at least 10 plus waterfalls to chase. This is an explorers dream come true.
The paved road on this trail is smooth, so biking, wheelchairs and things with wheels are very useful and coveneint to travel great distances easily. The trail goes along the San Gabriel River all the way to the Cogswell Reservoir. There are many canyons along the way to see and explore by crossing the west fork of the San Gabriel river. The water flow is great and waterfalls are flowing wonderfully.
When spring starts you will see wildflowers in bloom along the path to early summer, this is a botanists delight, and for nature lovers alike. Nature is alive here and yet just a casual stroll to each epic canyon, river or waterfall, some flow right onto the road literally. The mountain is dripping and leaking water everywhere, its green and lush, a true gem of nature.
We explored several canyons way beyond what is typical, to take you deep into the wild beautiful nature hidden behind the front waterfalls that few venture to explore or record on video.
You will discover Little Mermaid Canyon Falls and natural pools, where we jump, swim and get you up close and personal with wild nature hidden across the river. River crossing is dangerous without knowledge of its power, be wise and safe, travel with a group or trusted partners. Check depth and strength of the river flow before entering.
This trail has a junction to Bear Canyon Trail at the second bridge and can be explored as well, we plan to do so shortly. There are many unexplored canyons along the way, be careful and safe out there, nature is wild and dangerous without experience. I believe this is one of the best nature experiences this year for Hike Bytes.
Check with All Trails or Angeles Forest authorities when the trail is open, this trail is usually open only on Weekends. They have guards or forest rangers standing in front of the road entrance and within the trail during the week, there is most likely a fine if you hike on closed days, do not be unwise and get fined or banned from the area! You will need an adventure pass displayed in the front window in trailhead parking lot.
We started at 7:30 am and 2 people were there besides us and we saw them for only moments, come early and enjoy the solitude of this enchanting nature experience. I will provide an All Trails Link to "The West Fork National Scenic Bikeway."

It’s very long but you can go as far as you like, we did not finish it. We went about 4 miles in and back, so 8 miles for us. It’s a bikeway. 14.5 miles

What fishing sign did you see.. We're they all trout signs?

It’s been a good while, but it started with Santa Ana …
I looked up on Google and they said “fish in San Gabriel River, “Typical fish species found in the river are catfish, largemouth bass, sunfish, carp, longnose gar and various species of bait fish. The sign said trout, and another, Irish I could remember.
