    Looks awesome, I just got done with my crossover steering. I’m getting some bump steer. Im looking into a panhard/trackbar set up.

      @205_bowties Thats interesting. I figured I'd wait on the panhard bar to see if I get any bump steer once I start driving it. If so I'll have to do the same.

      @@vikingmech I’m still driving mine without the panhard bar. The kit I want is on back order. I let you know how it does.

      @@205_bowties Yep that would be good. I'm planning to just build my own. It should be pretty simple if you have a welder.

      Thanks I have a 94 OBS on a 1976 k20 chassis with a 6” lift and tired of the wandering when hitting bumps all new stuff still awful now going crossover

      @@backyardbuilttrucks1 Thats crazy. Theres another comment below from @205_bowties that says the same thing. He's still getting bump steer even after going crossover. He's going to add a panhard bar to see if that helps. Once I get mine on the road I'll have to see if I have the same issues. If its bad I might just 4-link it.

    I have a GMC Jimmy with a sway bar. I wonder if crossover drag link will clear the sway bar?

    • @vikingmech
      @vikingmech  5 місяців тому +1

      @jeremyc9229 Thats a really good question. I have a sway bar on my TODO list so I guess we'll find out. I'll make sure to post a video when I get to that part.

      @@vikingmech thanks! I just bought the Jimmy. It came with a 4” ruff country lift on it. It drove ok, but my wife couldn’t, (or wouldn’t) get in. So, I just installed a Tuff country 2” lift. Tuff Country told me I would be fine using the 4” steering arm that the Rough country kit came with.
      Anyhow, I have major Bump steer now! Can’t drive over 35mph without my full concentration. Since my Jimmy didn’t come with the stock steering arm, I just ordered one for the fun of it, to see if it works. If not, I am going crossover! Unless the sway bar gets in the way.
      P.S., I will never be swayed to crossover in any other way! Lol

      @@jeremyc9229 Thats an interesting problem. I would have no idea how to fix bump steer on that short-arm setup. There must be some components not traveling up and down in the same arc. It would be much easier to fix on a crossover setup (on the truck!)

    • @jeremyc9229
      @jeremyc9229 5 місяців тому

      @@vikingmech I think I will have to do the crossover steering, I don’t want to waste anymore money on components I don’t need. But still, for my driving, I do like the sway bar. If it has to be removed, so be it.

    • @vikingmech
      @vikingmech  5 місяців тому

      @@jeremyc9229 I think Offroad Design sells a swaybar kit or at least some brackets to make it fit with a lift kit and crossover steering. I'm going to make it work one way or another once I get to that point.

    I hope this comment gets read, I own a 1978 Chevy Q5 blazer I started up let it idle. Go to stair it to the right. It does not steer to the right go to stare it to the left it stairs to the left. Can you help me it had a 4 inch lift 36 inch tires

    • @vikingmech
      @vikingmech  Місяць тому

      @cameronskaggs4188 Could be many different causes. I would jack it up, put the axle on jackstands and try to move the wheels back and forth by hand. Something must be binding. Could be stuck u-joint, bad steering gearbox, broken tie-rod end. You'll have to look for what's stuck.

    So can you still use 4x4 in both low and high range?

    • @vikingmech
      @vikingmech  6 місяців тому

      @duanesismour8507 Yes you can. High and low range are not a function of the axle. Those are part of the transfer case. The transfer case has the low and high range gearsets in it.

    Where did you get your steering knuckles?

    • @vikingmech
      @vikingmech  2 місяці тому

      @josueramirezmorales8051 I got the axle shafts, ujoints and seals from offroadDesign. I like that place because they carry all american made stuff.
