My dad bought my brother a 71 with a 327 in 1981 . He drove it 3 years until he graduated and I bought it . I still have it. Put a 350 with 202 heads out of a 69 SS nova in it rebuilt. I’ll never get rid of it.🇺🇸
You have got to be one of the best neighbors to live around and I mean that in the most respectful way. I laughed my ass off when you and the wife were walking back home because he just took off. That's a guy that wanted to have some fun in his car. I wish I had a neighbor around me that was as talented as you that's a nice car and it looks like he's going to enjoy it a lot. I agree with the cragars on the car they should have come fr6 the factory that way.
Your a good neighbor. Real nice car, I bought a rust free 64 Malibu in California in 1990 paid $100. For it. I had to many projects at the time had to let it go. I could have got a 65 Malibu wagon a few years ago for $1500. But I wasn't fast enough. I'm 64 now and I have one more project left in me. I just hope something comes along soon. My arthritis is killing me and it's getting harder to walk. I have a LS, 6spd and a 9 inch set up for a gm and a barn full of parts I just have to find something to use it on. Wish I had a neighbor to help.
She's a beautiful survivor! I'm just a few years younger than her and I wish I could get a new fuel tank, grill and definitely a smaller gas tank then I have now!🤣 I wish I looked half as good as she is and I bet Bobby is psyched for her to be on the road again! I love the Cragar SS's there's not to many cars they don't go with, and I'm with you on the swap of them from the 55, perfect fit for both. Who wouldn't love it?❤👍 Hell yeah!!!
My first car was a 65 chevelle SS. It was a 283/PG car that I changed to a 327/th350. It was Crocus yellow on black. 65s have always been my favorite cars. Glad to see another one back on the road
In my lowly opinion, the rims that on your 55 4 door are way better than the Cragars. Overall project came out awesome. Tri-5's snd A bodies are Chevrolet's best!!
As I watch this it's 1976 I'm 17 years old and standing on a K-Mart parking lot looking at a white version of this same car. Which became my first car. I paid $675.00 for it. Maybe someday I'll find another one. Thanks Dave and Wesley for bringing it back to life.
My old man still has a red 65 2d ht that he bought in 66, it’s been around longer than me, hopefully when he’s finished with it he wants me to have it…It’s also a 4 speed…
I watched "Flying Sparks' earlier and they were asking for comments and suggestions about replacing the trunk floor of their 57 and suggested giving you a call
Newbern thank you for making this video, I was a roadkill guy since episode one and I’ve watched every single thing involving you and all the motortrend guys. I absolutely loved this video. I just found your channel this morning I will sub and like and watch all of your videos. I’m near Jacksonville NC, not to far from GA. This video meant a lot to me. My dad had a 65 chevelle malibu back in the day and I’ve heard stories about it my whole life. He sold the car before I was ever born sadly. But seeing this made me think of all the years growing up hearing about that car. And now I get to tell my son about my 01 ws6 t/a hurst car and how i loved it and miss it I had to sell it a few years back was a very sad day. Keep up the content brother
Awesome car, 65 and 64 are my second favorite Chevelles. Car looks great i wish you could have put a old dual plane intake but i understand My old edelbrock cb33x would have been great on that car
Thanks for the video that's a cool Chevelle I had a 64 Super Sport back in the day it's a mind blower the 65 Chevelle has original shocks that's amazing you're probably save those shocks and hang them on the wall they're cool spiral have a great dayI can't build cars anymore I'm at geezer but I can enjoy this thanks my 64 Chevelle was a 327 4 speed SS stood for salt shaker it was so incredibly Rusty it wasn't funny
Dude block off the hot water cross over on the manifold, move the fuel line away from the hot spot between the water pump and the block. Install a spacer that will insolate the carb from the hot ass manifold, and I promise it'll run and restart a heck of a lot better in the hottest part of the year. Plus it'll help the carb stay cleaner internally with the BS gas we have to burn these days.
I clear coat blasted aluminum bits to keep them looking good for as long as possible. Without the paint, the porous aluminum collects every bit of dirt and grease then looks worse in very short time.....
Any idea what the engine is? I saw the block doesn't have the crankcase ventilation parts or even the provisions for it so it looks like a newer casting.
@12VoltDave the 327 cars got a 12 bolt which I saw in the video. Camel hump heads would have been the 300hp 327. The 250hp cars had junk heads. Could have been a L79 350hp originally but most were the 300hp. With a 4spd and some gear that's more than enough to get into trouble with
@@12VoltDave That's cool he has the original, be even better if it was the L79! I have a 65 SS too but the original 327 was long gone. My brother bought it with a LS7 454 but he kept that for one of his cars.
@@anthonysilva4410 I thought the 250 horse cars got a ten bolt. That was based on reading anything 300 horse or more was 12 bolt territory so there's a dang good chance it's wrong!
Don’t understand why you wouldn’t go ahead and clean up the area under the gas tank. Hard work to remove the gas tank and do later. Parts look nice underneath the hood but pressure washing and cleaning would have been nice.
It’s not my car and I did everything for free. It’s not hard to drop the tank. Disconnect the fuel line and take two nuts loose and it’s out. He wanted the car running and driving so now he can clean it and make it better. That’s the best part of getting a new project is cleaning it and making it nice.
American Racing wheels are nice looking, just not on that car. Cragar SS wheels are what Bobby should have chosen. Matter of preference though. 64-66 Malibu cars are awesome looking cars and so simple to upgrade.

Heck yeah man
Perfect choice on the wheels.
Love it. That stance....❤😎
Yes sir me to
One of my all time favorite cars, and a 4spd ta boot !
What a great looking car 👍👍
That car is one of my all time favorites!!
I’ve always wanted this car! Factory black ‘65 in this condition is the perfect cruiser! Amazing find.
You are a good guy, David! Love all that you work on. Take care of your family, They are wonderful!

Just sweet man.......
Good for you getting your son out there bleeding the brakes with you. That takes me back!

Most wholesome car channel on UA-cam! Thanks Dave for another great video.
What a sweet ride!! Gorgeous car!

I commented about the wheels before you swapped them out. See how much better they look!
always the hero brother, keep it up your awesome!
Nice one Dave. That was proper generous swopping up to Your Craigellachie. Mick T London
That is a very nice 65, especially for a non west coast car. Very cool. Enjoy. Be safe!
Been waiting for this since the first video!!!! Well done
Put some shine juice on that baby and it’s ready to ride 🏁🏆🏁
hey dave, id suggest you place new oil seals in the head valve guides, install new rocker nuts and readjust the hydraulic lifters

Literally 1:54 into the vid, then here comes the commercials...
I love this retro car, maybe this car needs an AI smart box or AI interactive display? Could be made even cooler.
12 volt great video and car resurrection even though it smells like rat poop inside😅.
Good move on the wheel swap.
Love the car…..also must say
Nice dog.
Wimarumma our however you spell it!?!

The exhaust sounds like a bubble machine 😅
I like your weimaraner dog. Gray ghost
Nice job, Dave, but you have peeked my curiosity, what kind of a double pumper is not a duel feed?
The bowls are interchangeable. Look up part number BR-67277
@@12VoltDave I thought it was a VS 600, when I was looking at it, with the fuel transfer tube. Thanks for the reply.
What size were the mickey thompson tires that you installed on the rear?
That hole in the frame looks sketchy. Dry ice blasting would work great.
your a good neighbor, any houses for sale close by ?
Hey Dave what is the rim sizes and backspacing on those American racing wheels along with the tire sizes ? I think they look great on that Bu .
Your videos are always full of depth and content. I look forward to each new episode!🌄🗽♀️
The chevelle is sweet i would have left the American racing wheels on it just my opinion
They looked a lot better on the Malibu.
Can you share the mfg, part no. for the drop spindle, front disc brake kit please?
Build Sheet On Top Of Tank ? J B Weld The Intake!
My unicorn ❤
Shoulda at least took yuns back home lol
Is it a 12 bolt rear end?
Are you going to repair that hole in the frame?
Sounds like sponge bobs bubble car

Gotta love the smell of rat poop in the morning
you need to drift it with cragars on it
You do know they make other wheels other than torque thrust style wheels.. lol
What are you making, like 65 a hour 😅
Sell me the 55 4 dr!
All it needs is buffed out
thats not a 650 DP
Yes it is. It’s a brawler 650 mechanical secondary BR-67277
@@12VoltDaveI think most of us are use yo seeing a traditional dual feed double pumper. That is a si gle feed like the old 1850 600cfm VS carbs.
Smells like rat poop in here 😂
I need the Chevelle to go with my 65 Elco
