I think it would be awesome if you collabed with someone who could make it work with a hidden camera in the canvas and mechanize it to automatically follow people who walk by
This is what UA-cam was made for. Talented hidden gems like yourself are able to share your gifts with the masses. Uri, you're one of a kind and thank you for giving us a glmpse inside your mind. Awesome work:-)
Ok seriously, you need to stop! You’re making everyone else in the entire world feel completely inadequate. How talented ARE you??? Gorgeous work, thank you for sharing.
You have every right to be very proud of that Uri! Every step was mesmerising to watch and showed off incredible skill. Well done Sir! Well done indeed :)
Wow, that looks amazing. Your skill as an artist really works in well alongside your skills as a craftsman in a piece like this, the finished piece came out looking wonderful 😀👍
ᗰіɢʜѕᴛ ᗩʟʟ ᑕʀᴜᴄᴋіɴɢ ᖴіɢʜᴛʏ thank you! It's great fun to practice different types of craft in one project, however now, instead of just having to deal with sawdust and metal dust, there's dry paint too :|
You've got no quit in you. You can't stop with a great painting; you have to add moving eyes. You can't stop with crazy hand-filed metal fabrication of a gear-driven eyeball mechanism; you have to build a frame with seriously professional joinery. Then the hidden key storage. THEN the frickin' marquetry. AGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!
everything about this is just incredible! i love how literally everything, right down to the mechanisms and the little gears, is made from scratch. you have such an amazing talent!
Great job man! There are tons of people on UA-cam who can paint, woodwork, metal work, engrave....you’re the first to combine all of that together to make something really beautiful and creative and fun. Excellent job!!

Uri. You did a very nice job. I’m not surprised you can paint since your other work has the feel of an artist that also is a craftsman. The thickness of the plywood came through a little in the eyes. If you could file the holes to a knifes edge at the front near the paint then there would be less interference between the main painting and the painted eyes. Great work though. Being a craftsman myself I always look for constructive criticism to help hone my skills. I hope you take this in the same light and don’t think I’m picking on your excellent work. :-)
I’m speechless. I don’t even know what to say. This is EXTREME talent. That piece alone is worth thousands. I’m sure people would pay thousands for art like that.
You're on a completely other level of talented! I love your automaton videos. It's so cool to see someone with such defined skill in our modern world. I really admire that you're taking on these challenges (and exceeding success). You will have a great legacy!
You are utterly amazing Uri. Just discovered these videos and I'm transfixed. I love the off the wall designs and your ingenuity but impressed most of all by your matter of fact explanations about the designs as though it is an everyday thing to do. How can one person be so universally skilled?
Was für eine verrückte Idee. Genau so verrückt wie der Künstler👍🏻... Aber mit viel Charme und Spaß. Macht immer wieder Freude, Deine Projektvideos zu sehen.
He painted the picture, then made the cog and all the components from scratch for the mechanism, then the frame and marketed, this guy is phenomenal 🤩 A maverick of creative genius! 🤓❤️👌
Unbelievable. A consummate craftsman doubled by a consummate artist. Thank God such miraculous people still exist, and thank you Uri for showing yourself to us.
Lovely work! Only thing I could say is to paint the exposed plywood inside the eyelids, as to have a more seamless transition to the mechanism behind it.
The ppl who gave this a thumbs down accidently slipped, they were distracted by the incredible, can do it all, Uri - so that's how that happened. I shouldn't be in awe of every new talent we discover within you but I can't help it. I love watching ppl truly create and that's what you do. A man of many beautiful talents! I don't know about others but I'd love to watch a few videos of you just painting, I thoroughly enjoyed that! Thank you!!! 👏👏👏
Can't believe I'm just now finding your channel, this is incredibly cool! I love the effect those deep set eyes give while looking from different angles, they truly do follow you around. The mechanical aspect just brings it to a-whole-nother level. The over all finish really gives it that old Victorian portrait look and is pretty convincing. You are a perfect example of an artisan: artist+craftsman= artisan ;) I've watched a few of your vids now and look forward to watching more. Keep up the creativity! Thanks for sharing =)
As a painter, tip of the hat to you for how well you blend acrylics. That's why I went to oils--I want to be able to come back days later, and say, "Nah, I want to change that". Great work!
I had to go back and watch this again. it's Brilliant. I love the use of Kevin MacLeod in your videos. He's a great source for free music with every theme possible covered in his library of music pieces. The painting is amazing and I hope that it's handed down through the generations as a testament of your unique talents. The wood might suffer over the years due to environmental warpage but if taken care of shouldn't fare to badly. Yet again thanks for sharing. I'm glad I was here early on to follow your journey.
I did not expect such an accomplished painting. Here i am thinking 'the light playing on the skin is almost worthy of Rembrandt' - then you stick a drill in there! Crazy Artists !
I find it funny that this probably has the least views of all of your videos. Maybe calling it creepy got people less excited. All of your videos are awesome. Just doing the veneer was amazing by itself.
I'm speechless after seeing this video. Not only is the painting fantastic, the whole frame and mechanisms is made excellently by hand, I didn't see any power tools. You got yourself another subscriber and you deserve way more. Also there is so much detail, there was no reason to make the key that incredible but you did, amazing.
You look so shy at the end of the Video. Uri, please be proud of that nicely Dome work Like i am. It looks so amazing. We all love what you do. Especially me. I would Like to meet you. Heard you live in south of Berlin?
Evan Tsigonoff that argument doesn’t make much sense. A skilled craftsman can be incredibly accurate but the fact that he does it with hand tools, does not mean hand tools are more accurate onto themselves. A surface grinder might be able to flatten a steel plate to within a few microns of flat and parallel in a matter of minutes, show me a hand tool that could match that level of accuracy and speed?
Russell Gerdes I would never argue that something built by hand couldn’t be as accurate or beautiful as something built by a machine. I think the simple fact that a human is the engine behind a creation can make it more special and beautiful. I would however argue that for speed and accuracy the robot is the winner hands down. There is a reason why some of the most important work a craftsman ever does is building their tools. Bare hands alone are shitty tools unless your working in clay.

I can see why...
They do not teach any of this in art school lol
And also at the neighbouring engineering college

I love how instead of just getting a screen printed copy of a painting you made your own.

Only to have the gears be totally unnecessary in the end.
I am blown away by the detail and how everything was made/done BY HAND, especially the gears. Amazing work.
You are amazing, man! Didn't expect you would really paint, I'm impressed!
You make the painting process look like it is as easy as mowing the lawn when actually it is very difficult and takes a lot of talent.
